Every now and then I go to Mariah's forum just to read what they have to say about Celine (I know:D) and even they didn't have to think twice to realize how Celine doesn't do anything to promote and be passionate about her own music like Mariah does. Sad.

 

One comment as an example from their forum when Courage was released:

 

"Now, christmas season is over. Let’s see if Celine’s new album will return to top 100. She should promote the album not L’oreal or whatever beauty products that has nothing to do with her music lol. She should learn more with Mariah."

 

I just have to say amen to that.

 

We are spoiled by Celine doing incredibly well with sales and tour tickets without any promotion, but how long does it gonna last? She's literally doing the same show every year, I'm afraid it will get boring sooner or later and people will stop showing up.

 

Yes, but Celine sits on her couch, eats her chips and thinks : my tickets and music will sell anyway.

 

And why wasn't Ashes on the album???

Still amazes me how selfish people are... Celine has done nothing more to give her whole life to fans... She had to take a break to be able to have kids and then put on a show after 5 months of having twins while recording albums in english and french... And now that she can finally have some time to herself to process life to figure out to enjoy life, fans are being the most selfish of it's kind... Reason Mariah carey fans are succesful is because they love her no matter what.. Even though her voice is not what is once was, or all the mental breakdown she had they never talked crap about her and decided she needed to do more.. not her true fans anyways they are happy with what they get... Sometimes when i am on this forum i feel ashamed of how people who call themselves her biggest fans thrash her talk crap about her and always expect more than what they get... Get a life and let her have her time... She is a legacy artist get it through your heads no matter how muhc you love her music labels and the music industry will not look at legacy artists the same as in their prime.. So if she wants a break or spend time with family than thats great she gave us what we wanted new music and 20 songs... I love them and enjoy them every day... who cares shes is not more popular or number one... I just love her music and the fact that she is still willing to tour and make new music ..

If, as I suspect, the "selfish fan" label was aimed at me then I ask you to again read my post. Nowhere did I lay any "blame" at Celine. She could take a break for the rest of her life if she wants. She's certainly earned it!

 

The point is, and I will say it again, is that her "team" and her "record label" are proving time and time again to be utterly useless. All Celine has to do in record the songs. She says herself she enjoys doing this. After that it's over to the "experts" to promote it, sustain it, and ultimately make money from it.

Streisand continues to sell out concerts and sell enough albums and she doesn’t do any promotion. At a certain point, legacy artists, beloved artists, don’t have to do promotion. Mariah will never be considered either of those. Mariah is the one who is more likely to be forgotten and no longer have a career in 20 years. She’s been focused on having hits; Celine has been focused on having a career.

Because the company who has the music rights for it only wanted it on the Deadpool 2 soundtrack. Celine wasn’t given permission to have it on hers.

Streisand continues to sell out concerts and sell enough albums and she doesn’t do any promotion. At a certain point, legacy artists, beloved artists, don’t have to do promotion. Mariah will never be considered either of those. Mariah is the one who is more likely to be forgotten and no longer have a career in 20 years. She’s been focused on having hits; Celine has been focused on having a career.

I disagree with you on that. Celine is barely recognize by the newer generations, at least in America. The reason why she still sells album is because her audience is older. Nobody cares about album sales this days and Celine is really bad in streaming, more than Mariah even. Her last successful album were drop in 2002 and even so, she's more recognized for her work from 96/97. That's a long time. I think if someone has a chance to fade out in the next years is Celine. At least in America. In Europe she's gonna be the one to be remember.

 

I see Celine and Mariah in the same spot: legends who doesn't matter how good work they put out, they won't never get a chance again because of their ages. That's what Madonna has been fighting for years now and I give her credit for that. It certainly better than pretend that this is not happening, like Celine and Mariah do.

 

And the thing, for me, it's not even about numbers. It's about content. As I fan, I like to see the artist that I admire produce. More than half of Mariah's last album were performed live, at least 4 songs were sung on TV shows or awards. She released new stuff, released old rarities, perform fan favorites, does a lot of music videos, does random videos of herself singing, revive old gems... Meanwhile, we're here watching Celine sunk the Titanic again, and again, again for about 20 years now.

 

I accepted that about Celine years ago. It is what it is. But if we going to compare: we, as Celine's fans, are losing by much.

And if they truly wanted to promote Ashes in a way, they were a year to late.

She was everywhere when they dropped it. A few award shows wouldn't hurt back than.

 

Same goes for Lying Down, premiering it at Carpool Karaoke, and nada zero nothing after it aired.

 

I'm still baffled from that live event. She talks about new songs, you could hear a new song during the intro video. And she gives you MHWGO

 

 

 

Both good points. You're not telling me that Jimmy Kimmel insisted she sing "Ashes." This would've been a "TeamCeline" decision.

 

I get, and understand, she was more than comfortable performing "Ashes" by this point and we know she gets nervous performing new material. It would've even made sense if "Ashes" was included on the album but no!

 

However this is where the "team" and the record label need to be providing direction and support. "Hey, we've got a high profile tour launch and high profile television appearance booked for you so this would be the ideal opportunity to perform the new single." Is anyone having these conversations? Does anyone care?

Looking at the phenomenon that is Mariah again and comparing it with the sleeping state of Celine's career, I cannot fail to make the following reflection:

 

Did you know that Coco Chanel and Elsa Schiaparelli were legendary rivals? They were the best of their time BUT today one's name is known worldwide, and the other is nearly forgotten...

 

That’s because of promotion!!!

Celine needs to promote herself, her music, her work. That if she wants to be known in the next 100 years.

I adore the Courage album but I’m so disappointed because only fans know about it.

 

Mariah is doing her homework very well. With less voice when compared to Celine, she menages to be everywhere with numerous #1 hits.

Celine has always been an athlete... Now it’s not time to cross arms. It’s time to release music vIdeos, perform in award ceremonies, release new songs or unreleased ones, record an album of duets, jazz, act in some films... so many possibilities.

 

It’s time to Celine be Celine!

 

I need to disagree. Celine status and current career are above Mariah. Mariah wouldn’t even be remembered today if it weren’t for her Christmas classic. In Europe for instance, they are not even comparable. I won’t deny that Mariah has made an effort in the last years and have amended some of her fiascos (her tv performances were embarrassing most of times and I don’t want to comment on her reality). Just an example, Celine at Met Gala had more impact than anything Mariah has done in the last 10 years. I don’t know what the future will bring, but I doubt Mariah will be more remembered than Celine.

Hmmmmm. I’m trying to figure out how, if America doesn’t remember Celine, she managed to sell out a world tour IN AMERICA. I went to seven shows. It was not only “old people” at her shows. The audience was mostly people in their 20s/30s/40s.

Y'all are really something. Fans on social media have been asking for new pics of her and we finally got them and while I see happiness elsewhere all I see here is "well where's the music?"

And so what if the new pics & video were taken days or weeks ago, it's still new to us. Many complain about the fact she only posts fashion pics but now they post something casual and it's still not good enough.

 

Never happy about anything.

 

People here love to claim she's in it only for the money but turn around and praise Mariah or whoever releasing albums or whatever during a pandemic that has left millions of people unemployed. But yeah, Celine is the one in the wrong because she's gone on hiatus during a pandemic.

 

 

You know why this forum is dead? Because the fans here only know how to suck out any fun one can have from anything. At least Mariah fans support her no matter what. For instance, I'm sure if Celine sang as poorly as Mariah has done in the past you'd be eating her alive. Not saying we should be blind to her flaws but just chill, it's her life and career so let her do what she wants.

 

Can TC and her management do better? for sure. I think we all agree with that but can we just enjoy the little things and ask for more but with love and care instead of just demanding things at every turn. You know the saying "you catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar."

I am so tired of people dramatazing lives of celebrities. Yes they might not be perfect, but saying she have her life to fans is such an exaggeration.

 

I’d say an entertainer with a 30+ career with only about 4.5 years off total (2000-02, 09-11 and the half year between 14-15 to care for Rene), I’d say she pretty much gave her life to her career and fans. There are plenty of entertainers who go 5+ years at a time without releasing an album or even doing a performance. Celine I feel is one of those rare performers who genuinely cares about her fans. Of course it’s how she makes her living, and how she takes care of her family. But I don’t for one minute believe that it’s solely for the money.

 

That being said. I think she IS at the point in her life and career where she gets to decide how she wants to spend her time away from the stage. If she doesn’t want to show face, she doesn’t have to. If she doesn’t want to perform from her home, she doesn’t have to. And we shouldn’t expect her to.

I’m 90% sure this was last year.

 

But if the 10% shows she’s there now with “Dee Inner Circle” I will be majorly f***** off if she’s now there working on a French album, album cover and French music video after abandoning the English album.

 

But then again in recent years the French albums got more time, money, attention and promo than the English albums do at the same time, so maybe not altogether surprising if that’s the case,

She's wearing an outfit from the 2018 Prada summer collection (as per Celinish Closet's instagram) and it would explain Dee's presence.
