There was no post about a new project. This is where this forum is like a game of telephone. The completely-unrelated-to-Celine-twitter-account posted “Can You Keep A Secret” with the hashtags: Celine Dion, News Celine Dion, Coming Soon, and 2021. There were no words “new project” at all. This could be bs because it’s not an official Celine account. It could be they think there will be announcement about a new French album coming soon. It could be the announcement of the postponement of the Courage World Tour.

 

But nowhere, anywhere, did anyone on Twitter, either Celine’s real account or fake fan accounts, post the words “New Project.”

No we shouldn’t. If Taylor Swift can record an entire album and shoot videos in lockdown (and sell how many times more than Courage has sold to date in just one day?!) and Mariah can record new music and do Good Morning America interviews to promote and all the rest, then Céline can leave the apples alone and pull her finger out and show some respect to her music. Why not release a new song and a video from the album? Where’s the imagination??

Lol. I wonder if Celine has seen or has any interest in the latest music released. I think she would enjoy Dua Lipa.

 

The thing is, I critique a lot, but I’m also easy to please! Give me one unreleased song or two from back in the day, and I’d shut up for a while indeed! I mean, even the Berlin 1997 concert making the rounds again lifted my spirits.

I think we should just get the idea Celine got tired of this business. I think she kinda lost the passion for it.

Or maybe, she just won't do things that doesn't make her make a lot of money.

This is not the same Celine anymore, who wants to prove the world she is the owner of it.

And since she's the real boss and no more Rene to make her move things, she just chooses to do the obvious. As a huge fan, I just expect nothing anymore, but still have hope to be surprised.

I agree with you. Sony Music coul do it and obviously promote Courage. Respect to her hard work because she worth it.

on public and in private on the very same day for greater impact. If we will see things going on the same

at least we'll know we tried, and from there, really I won't bother anymore.

Seeing the amazing stuff other singers pull out, this encouraged me to give it a try.

 

We can started by asking Celine to support Courage and then to dare and ask two live performances from her studio

or home for 15min long, not too much, just like Mariah and Shania did

 

I'm still thinking what to do, and once have it, will try to post on her FB group again, I hope they won't take it down. And see if the fans understand why it's important to join this, and of course, if we don't want to wait another decade to have a new album

For the writers of the songs it is a dissapointment too. Whitney Philips who wrote the hard way was so enthusiastic in the start and I really thought Celine would include the song on tour..

Take the TCWT, there she performed quite some new material on tour and the show worked so well. A good mixture of old and new repertoire. But the courage tour is just a lot of old and tiny new.

Ah well, look on Twitter how the fans respond on that fashionvideo recorded long ago in New York , that one that was on apple first, they react like we react; give us something new, about the incompetence of Team Celine etc etc

I'm not sure what people really demand or expect from Celine in these pandemic months. What is she supposed to do? They probably had a promotion round planned in Europe right before the tour, with a new single maybe, but things have changed for everyone. I doubt Sony (or any other label) have spare money to spend on promoting a consolidated artist just for the sake of pleasing a few fans, specially if she has nothing to share at the moment (Mariah had planned this long ago, is not because of the pandemic that she is releasing the rarities. Great for the fans, though the general public has zero interest). Have you heard anything from Adele in the last 4 years (a few post showing her new body) or from Rihanna? If anything, Celine career is very predictable and after an English record, a French one follows. She is for sure already working in the French album. I doubt she is home sitting doing nothing. But they have probably learned the lesson. If they show her recording and then things get delayed people here will go crazy asking for the album that she started recording so long ago.

 

Celine is more active than most artists (definitely more than any artist from the 90s). She stopped the tour in February because of the Pandemic, that's only 6 months ago! She has always worked really hard, putting her career first. She cancelled her honeymoon to promote Think Twice, she gave concerts when both her parents died just to not disappoint fans that have traveled to see her, etc etc. That commitment to her career is what brought her here. Some fans even complain that she sells so many tickets or albums without promo. Is that wrong? She got that status and commercial success working really hard, so that's something to feel proud as a fan.

 

Somebody already wrote than the problem for some fans is that they don't adjust their expectations and I agree. You will always be disappointed if you compare to artists at their prime like Taylor Swift. Let's see in 20 years how much Taylor promotes.

Like I said, most people are critiquing Celine and her team about their pre-pandemic activities and strategies. No one is blaming her for pandemic behavior, but many fans have said they miss her. People mostly compare her to her earlier self, when the tour set lists, even the last few years, were better.

 

It’s too late to save the Courage tour or album. But, again, how hard is it to go live on Instagram or Facebook? Artists with a lot less going on than Celine, and less money to gain, are doing so.

 

Sophie Ellis Baxter literally does karaoke from her living room with her kids and it’s amazing. Annie Lennox posts short videos and interviews on her Instagram (she’s over 65). Adele...well she doesn’t have an album out and she went through giving birth and divorce. She was on break. Rihanna invested in business. Beyoncé also just started her family. But that said, I’m sure all of their fans complain all the time about not seeing enough of them! I would be shocked if they didn’t.

 

People don’t just follow artists for the music alone, it’s for their essence and being and to have a connection. We know Celine is probably singing around the house anyway.

 

Then again, I don’t want to judge pandemic behavior because we don’t know her life. But to pretend it’s asking a lot, assuming she is holding up relatively well emotionally.

 

 

All that said, we love Celine! She is not her career.
