DionFanAlways Posted August 26, 2020 at 12:06 PM Posted August 26, 2020 at 12:06 PM Like I said, most people are critiquing Celine and her team about their pre-pandemic activities and strategies. No one is blaming her for pandemic behavior, but many fans have said they miss her. People mostly compare her to her earlier self, when the tour set lists, even the last few years, were better. It's too late to save the Courage tour or album. But, again, how hard is it to go live on Instagram or Facebook? Artists with a lot less going on than Celine, and less money to gain, are doing so. Sophie Ellis Baxter literally does karaoke from her living room with her kids and it's amazing. Annie Lennox posts short videos and interviews on her Instagram (she's over 65). Adele...well she doesn't have an album out and she went through giving birth and divorce. She was on break. Rihanna invested in business. Beyoncé also just started her family. But that said, I'm sure all of their fans complain all the time about not seeing enough of them! I would be shocked if they didn't. People don't just follow artists for the music alone, it's for their essence and being and to have a connection. We know Celine is probably singing around the house anyway. Then again, I don't want to judge pandemic behavior because we don't know her life. But to pretend it's asking a lot, assuming she is holding up relatively well emotionally. All that said, we love Celine! She is not her career.Nailed it! For me that is. It's like me talking to my one of my sons, 'Would it kill you to call once in a while!?' It's just nice to hear something from the people you love. That's all. 4 Quote I have had the time of my life following this woman! Much love.
Xpresso Posted August 26, 2020 at 12:38 PM Posted August 26, 2020 at 12:38 PM (edited) You will always be disappointed if you compare to artists at their prime like Taylor Swift. Let's see in 20 years how much Taylor promotes.Exactly. These people who are not happy with what Celine is doing or not doing are just too young. They missed the 90's when Celine was EVERYWHERE and releasing albums non stop. Even her people were afraid of over-exposure.Don't worry, when Taylor gets older, she will slow down. By the way, Celine hasn't really slowed down even if Sony doesn't release new singles or if she doesn't tweet every day or week. We have been so spoiled since the 90's!! Everyone needs some downtime. manu23 Posted August 26, 2020 at 01:26 PM Posted August 26, 2020 at 01:26 PM (edited) It's too late to save the Courage tour or album. But, again, how hard is it to go live on Instagram or Facebook? Artists with a lot less going on than Celine, and less money to gain, are doing so. Save Courage tour and album from what? Courage is the highest grossing female tour this year and the album has sold more than Madonna, Mariah, Shania, Dixie Chicks, even Selena Gomez, just to name a few. Yes promotion was bad and all focus was in promoting the tour, but it doesn't take away the fact that Celine still outsold all her peers. You answer yourself to the question, "artists with a lot less going on". Celine has said many times that she is forced to say no to many projects because she basically doesn't have the time. Do you really want to see Celine doing a karaoke from her living room? I think she is above that, she has always been kind of old fashion. To me it's fine she remains silent if she has nothing important to say. Edit: It is true that Celine is less active in social media, but it is also true that Celine always tries to give fans the opportunity to meet her or see her. How many artists of Celine status stop their cars to sign autographs or take pictures? Or leave their hotels for a second time for people to see her, as she did in London. She spent hours at the door of her hotel singing autographs after one of the Paris concerts in 2017 I believe (I was there). She always stops and takes pictures with so many people when leaving hotels. I have never seen Beyoncé or Madonna doing that. Edited August 26, 2020 at 01:45 PM by manu23 7 Quote
mirage Posted August 26, 2020 at 02:15 PM Posted August 26, 2020 at 02:15 PM Ugh just like D'elles. I'm amazed by that comment of her. I feel like okay if you are that sad and you loved that album so much, what is stopping you from performing it? Same with this album she claims to LOVE sooo much. A way to get it over with is just to do a 1 night only. We get the songs 'live' she gets to perform the whole album. Done, now back to the oldies and covers. It's so simply and yet they choose otherwise. You know what? In a few years, when asked about the album, I'm sure she'll say "It's a great album and it makes me sad that I couldn't sing it enough back in the day" 2 Quote

sarit_celine Posted August 26, 2020 at 05:36 PM Posted August 26, 2020 at 05:36 PM Well no one asking Celine to sing from her bedroom or swimming pool, but singing from her house (Where she sang "The prayer" for the global event following Covid19?) won't do no harm, or singing from the studio is this not to her class? The rapidness Celine chose to give up on this work keep be a riddle. Our lifes sure doesn't depent on thisbut yes, it will be so nice to see her singing some songs from Courage, and she supposes to enjoy it, I guess. Some fans treat Celine like every act she might take that has to do with her music will cause her discomfort. I’m just saying what I’d like her to do, it’s exciting following such a legendary singer and dreaming of how things could be. I’m also coping with her absence better than I was expecting! I almost don’t miss her at all since I’ve got a decades-long career to look back over. I do however miss the anticipation before every show and the excitement of looking up footage from the show the following morning. couldawouldashoulda Posted August 26, 2020 at 06:33 PM Posted August 26, 2020 at 06:33 PM Question: Do people here realize how recording works? That Celine will sing 2 or 3 lines of a song and then take a break. Then sing another 2-3 lines and then take a break. Then it all gets edited together. That’s a generalization of course - there’ll be some songs where she can do a whole chorus or ending improvisation. But you can hear in songs how the vocals are laid on top of other vocals. The Hard Way is a good example. She would NEVER be able to sing that song live beginning to end. Way too difficult. She’d have to lip the song. And I don’t think Celine likes to lip anymore. She only lips her old hits. If she can’t sing a new song, she simply deletes it from the set list. Quote

Too late to give the album its proper promo, or make the Courage setlist more feature more Courage songs. And yes, I'm comparing Celine to being the best of herself, not comparing her to others necessarily. And maybe it's unfair, but I expect something of Celine especially...she's not the same as everyone else...she is a once-in-a-lifetime voice who also has the most success of almost all living musicians. I think that counts for something. She stands alone, AND she is at an age where she can still gain sizeable fan followings--not that she needs them necessarily. Of course, I don't want to see Celine do karaoke from her living room (that's not exactly what Sophie does, but easiest synonym since the microphone is crap). Just some more fan engagement would be nice, because we miss her. That could take many forms! She could do an interview on one of the late shows, for god's sake. It doesn't have to be social media, what about saying hello or singing a song on Jimmy Fallon or Andy Cohen. Your point is well-taken about Celine and stopping for fans. She does make herself very available in-person a lot. I'm not saying she's all bad. I love her! Though I think that is a somewhat special situation, and I can't say for sure that others artists don't do that because I don't follow them more closely. If she doesn't want to, fine! C'est la vie. But if it's her team dropping the ball, c'est pas bon! * p.s. love the forum + everyone, but taking a little break for a while! not sure when i'll be back, but hope all stay safe and well.* Edited August 26, 2020 at 08:45 PM by PuraVida Quote
