Yes she work hard to record the album, no doubt about that. But once the production finished, then what? Doesn't she has some kind of interest about marketing and promo? Does she doesn't care about the promo and marketing at all? Doesn't she follow and give some instructions to her team marketing wise? Is this what she mean by 'I've got nothing to prove' that she only doing recording and singing part and have zero interest about the promo/marketing/selling number?

 

Any artist will be very happy to know that his album doing well on charts, or getting nominations for music events.

Courage was very legit for that. It's clear she stopped caring for the aspect of sales and charts long time ago,

I can get that, but the major problem keep being the same where she is not showing any interest for her own music.

 

She really prefer to do anything else, but not to show interest for her own music.

Instead of releasing the pale duet with Chris Isaak she could let other jam on the album

the opportunity to shine. Or if it's a duet let it be something new, fresh and well produced.

 

She acts as if she at her end of her career, can't stand the comments that praise this stagnation.

As i said before she needs a manager to take care of these things because this is not her main job. It’s all Rene’s job as a manager. Céline doesn’t know these things. Well Courage has sold more than Madonna's last album that was filled with younger and hip acts (and big streaming artists). And more than Mariah's album so before calling it a flop, you need to compare with other veteran acts.

Well in my opinion this is not about Courage sold more than Madonna’s last album. It’s about lack of proper promo her team did for Courage. Courage sold more than Madame X without any proper promo. Imagine if her team do their job, Courage will sold more than 1 mio copies easily.

 

So unless she doesn’t care about her music after the recording process (“I’ve got nothing to prove anymore”), she need to find a good manager, and hire a new marketing team who know what they do.

So I think that celine needs a manager, she seems to be lost, I think it is noble of her to want to manage her own career but this is not working very well, a manager could have built a better marketing plan for the album, could have placed she placed on TV, besides that she could have fought to protect her interests before the record company, which seems to me that Celine has no active voice in there, if it is not pleasing to end the contract, I am sure that with a new contract better things they saw.

That sentence of: I've got nothing to prove anymore" turned to be "Me forgeting about my hardcore fans

and disrepsecting them while never staying true to my own words". Rene is turning around in his grave.

 

See for example Shania Twain. She had to take a long break before managing to pull out a new album

only in 2017 but since she got back in 2017, she never really stopped.

She just released a new duet+video, soon going to release a special edition for one of her greatest selling albums

with some addiontal tracks never released before and some live recordings. Plus, she uses her online platforms

so cleverly, always enganging with her fans. Posting relevant stuff all the time that has to do with her musical career.

She proves how easy it's to balance between her music career to some of her other hobbies (acting/producer)

and no one comes on top of the other.

All that while we're having the damned pandemia. Clever woman indeed.

 

If one of those things will happen with Celine, it will make me glad, just to little show any caring

I just did a google search to find out what a record label does for an artist. After reading through 5 different articles, they all said the same thing: the record label markets the album. The record label is the one who who scheduled tv appearances, talk shows, etc. to help sell the album. If that’s the case, Celine will rarely do TV appearances in America because Sony clearly just sees her as a legacy artist and thinks she sells fine without them doing any work. They’re more interested in working for other artists.

 

I remember reading that Celine made a point of visiting the Sony offices while in NYC. She was probably trying to make connections with them since she’d been in Vegas for so long and none of the people at Sony were there in the 90s. No one at Sony really knows her so they probably just don’t care about her.

No, I think she blindly trusted the wrong people. Look, they had amazing promo footage (her driving the bus, her swimming, with the armor etc. etc.) and they hardly even did anything with it. There was no agressive promotion on social media, even though they had by far more material than they needed. Celine was there, available to shoot and participate in everything, but it was up to her team to us it in the right way. But her team hardly made use of anything. They were offering some crappy super short clips avery few months. How can that be called promo? The Loreal spots could have been combined with some of her new songs too.

It is up to Celine to talk and try to come to an agreement with her label, she needs to have an active voice and say what she wants, if the label does not make her look for other means, what she cannot always do is give in what the label wants.

Let's not forget she (or her team) fails to utilize her social media properly for the promo, marketing , and benefit of the album at the moment. Oddly enough, when she has new album and ton of great new songs to talk about, she and her team decided to talk about an old song from decades ago and recreate the video of IACBTMN. And it was only a week after the release of Courage. Now, almost a year since 3 songs of Courage dropped, they decided to release that interview video. Even a PR student can do a better job than this. LOL.

I think it is unfair to judge her...

I have seen her clearly tired in recent years, in fact, she looks much older than she really is... She has overworked a lot.

Also she has suffered a lot in late year, losing both of her parents, her brother, her husband. What else could you lost in your life ?

What if she does not want to be in the spotlight ? It is very clear that for her, it is all about family, she is rich, she is talented and famous.

Of course I want her to be on top. But maybe it is not important for her anymore.

And I love her enough to respect that.

 

PD: Music industry has changed so much, it would take a loooot of work to make her perform average in album charts. She made good music, and that her responsibility.

This! It's great that the still sells so well like this, even without promo. But I'm curious when I'm imagine what courage could have sold by now if they would promoted it like other album like FIY or LTAL, ANDHC or TC albums.
