"Courage" album - Official Topic

Oh come on the album did not flop. For an artist of her legacy achieving a #1 album is a milestone. Yes, it was through ticket bundles but they still had the choice to redeem or not. And she sold a s*** ton of tickets to 'courage' world tour. The album sold well in Canada the UK and France and was her highest charting album in Australia in decades.

You can't compare apples with oranges. She will not have a Taylor Swift chart run at this stage in her career. She is a legacy act. Come back here in 25 years and tell me if Taylor Swift is moving what she does now. For her generation Celine and Courage made an impact. You say you work with people who didn't like it. ...I work with folks who were only casual celine fans, BOUGHT courage and loved and proceeded to make a point in telling me. These were people who have not bought a Celine album since Falling Into you. This one case study alone debunks your theory.

We’ll have to agree to disagree. To me, Courage album was a major flop for Celine. Even she knows it - she only sings 2 song from it on the tour named after the album. Flop.

I think it was mainly due to a very very poor and insufficient marketing strategy, because they have focused all their attention and energy on the world tour.

There was very high interest in her new album eversince Rene died, but it was not until late 2019 that they finally released that damn album. It was too long of a wait, and in addition, the promotion was poorly handled and rushed. Look what Aldo did when EUS was released and now compare! It’s all about proper management.

Exactly. Nothing is impossible as long as they want to achieve it and know how to achieve it. We need someone like Aldo who actually cares about what happens and knows what to do. The one big difference is that Aldo used to send Céline to many TV shows, award shows and documentaries. Nowadays, it’s as if they can’t be bothered to get involved in anything. They’re happy making money and that’s all that matters to them

For some reason I don't think they would've included more songs from the album had it sold more... didn't they start the effing tour before the album was even released?

They just have strange brains

In an interview before the tour began Céline said that they will include 3 or 4 new songs in the show. On opening night there were 3 and then they cut them because Céline was sick.

Which did they cut?

She’s too fat to be wearing that. Or maybe I’m just used to Céline standards?

If she could fit into it to begin with, I wouldn't dare call her fat. But she didn't seem like she could move much... Beyonce has too many great curves to fit the traditional catwalk model body...but I still think she looks great in the outfit.

FOMO and “Lying Down”. Even “Courage” was out for one show.

This has to be the most ridiculous comment ever made in this forum. Fat-shaming? In 2020? Really?

First of all, if you think she is overweight in this video, you might have body dysmorphic disorder. Go find a psychiatrist.

Also, 'fat' people can wear whatever the hell they want. Nobody is "too fat" for nothing. If it fits, they can wear.

It's not up to you to have an opinion on someone else's body. Be better!

this has nothing to do with being politically correct, this is more about being a decent human being.

People come here and spout all sorts of things about Céline being too thin/anorexic and criticize how she dresses. They say thing like “she shouldn’t wear a bun cos she’s too skinny” and no one cares. Yet when I dare call Beyoncé fat, saying she shouldn’t wear something, I get told to go a psychiatrist and that I’m not a decent human being.

To respond to guigafs15’s post, I can absolutely have an opinion on somebody else’s body. Everyone does. You can’t say you never thought someone was too fat or too thin. I’m a very direct, no-nonsense person, perhaps too much so. Had I known it would infuriate people like that, I probably would’ve kept it to myself.

Sorry for offending you.

people criticizing celine's weight are also out of place doing so. criticizing a person's body is something we need as societies to learn how to stop doing. i don't agree with the attack about needing a psychiatrist whoever said it shouldn't have. and the intention of my post wasn't to say that you aren't a decent human being but that the topic is about decency and not political correctness. hope this clarified it.

how did they make her have Boobs,, cause the last time Ive seen her ,, she doesnt have any there to show off.
Posted (edited)

see, there is still interest in her

Whenever media talk about her today, it's always about her fashion, bodysuit, outfit, etc. The publicity when she attended Paris Fashion Week is way bigger than the publicity about Courage. For me it only shows that her team doesn't know how to utilize the interest of media about her as fashion icon to benefits of album marketing/promo. Take a look at Courage music video and compare to Loreal ads, Vogue Met Gala video, or Vogue Paris Best Couture Looks of the Season.

It seems okay to call people skinny and anorexic, but fat is a no-no for some reason.

And no, I'm not saying it's fine to call someone fat. I'm just mentioning the odd double standard.

There's a bunch of Thin-shaming comments regarding Celine on this forum and yet nobody seems to care. Double standard...

So, the right thing to do is scold everytime any of this type of comment's surface, like I did before BTW, instead of allowing anyone to said any hurtful thing they want about someone's body just because 'there was that time that somebody said something and no one responded'.

The next time someone said something about anyone's weight (fat or thin), you call them out. It's certainly better than use this as an argument to endorse bad behavior.

PS: I wonder if that had been a racist comment, or misogynistic, or homophobic, or xenophobic, I would have to defend this point so strongly. It seems like it's wrong to discriminate people over the color of they skin, or their gender, or sexual orientation, or nationality, but it's perfectly acceptable to discriminate them over their bodies. And you talk about double standards...

Bad comparison. You can't change your skin color, gender, sexual orientation, or nationality. In most cases, you can change your body.

This is all too little to late and it winds me up when these clowns now, nearly a year on from the first three songs being released start to post all this behind the scenes rubbish and recycle what has previously been posted about this album.

For an album that they epically failed, they seem somehow proud about the behind the scenes of it and less about the songs on it and releasing another music video whether it be lying down or another song from it regardless if Celine’s in it or not due to the current situation, as they have had a hell of a lot of time on their hands to do something since March.

Either way during this year off she needs to sort a lot of stuff out before her return and employee certain people as alot seriously needs to be improved on from a business point of view!!!

LOL. The album is dead. And this interview video arrived a million years too late. It’s a nice interview, but what’s the point? The party is over. She should fire her current team and hire someone who know about marketing strategy.

Btw, looks like she’s so proud and work hard about this album. At least until the release date. Then BAM! Everything’s vanished.

Nice interview, but it's too late.

I think she was proud of the album and she still loves to sing, but then it flopped and she was disappointed. So she and Sony didn't promote it anymore. Yes, she needs a new team/management and it will be interesting to see how her English career will continue.

The album didn’t flop by itself. They did literally zero to promote it after the release weak, which was beyond stupid. Moreover, the promo was way too weak. And now, one year later, they start posting all the interesting making off material which should have circulated after it was released. It’s way too late. This team deserves to be fired. She definitely needs more competent people in her marketing team. Edited by ryba
