Nice interview, but it's too late.

I think she was proud of the album and she still loves to sing, but then it flopped and she was disappointed. So she and Sony didn't promote it anymore. Yes, she needs a new team/management and it will be interesting to see how her English career will continue.

It has nothing to do with the album sales. For exemple FOMO and Lying Down were dropped from the setlist before the album was released. Back in September and October 2019 Celine could have easily performed FOMO, Courage, Lying Down and Imperfections all in full lenght but she choosed to not to do it for obscure reasons.

Well Courage has sold more than Madonna's last album that was filled with younger and hip acts (and big streaming artists). And more than Mariah's album so before calling it a flop, you need to compare with other veteran acts.

Plus Madonna's Promo Tour for Madame X was heavier and better coordonated than Celine's Promo Tour for Courage and yet Celine sold more.

Oh well, the world shall never know what happened to the plans. The team didn’t “Say Yes” quick enough for the album to catch fire. They were too busy “Lying Down’ and will learn “The Hard Way” that you have to hit it while you are still in “The Chase”. Perhaps they will be able to “Change My Mind” with the next release that they can do things differently.

Plus i do not get that for such modern sounding songs as Imperfections and flying on my own the live arrangements lack a proper digital beat with a the right kind of kickdrum and synth bass. Same goes for loved me back to live which in a live version lacked that ooomph in the drums.

I still hope - if she tours again next year - that at least 7 courage songs will fill up the setlist. why is it that she is so proud on this album but it does not show in the promotion at all.

I think that a few more music videos (Lying Down, Flying On My Own, Look At Us Now, Change My Mind) would have helped the album earn more streams and thus « sell » more. I hope we’ll see at least one more coming!

Anything would’ve helped the album sell more but instead they decided to go with no strategy whatsoever and just random TV appearances and videos from time to time. ‘More’ is the key word. They should’ve invested more time, more money and more effort into the promo. We should’ve been overwhelmed with Céline. She should’ve been everywhere. It’s a job for goodness’ sake.

What a great video, but why now? I love the album, and I don't want it to fade into obscurity, but unfortunately the album is over. They should still release music videos though. At least what they already shot, like Lying Down. I mean, why not? If this truly was her "passion project", the success of the album wouldn't matter that much, but she could still release a bunch of material from it. It doesn't take much for them to release music videos, and/or behind the scenes stuff.

exactly!! Even mixed footage of her swimming (The mhwgo background footage for the new tour) or running with the blindfold could be mixed into a music video for e.g. Heart Of Glass

The problem is that it was not marketed right at all. There was not enough buzz. She should have been literally everywhere for a full week or even more and a crazy amount of making of videos should circulate all around social media, but none of that happened! Instead, they were releasing ridiculously short clips of her in the studio that hardly show anything every two or 3 months, and a full proper interview where she addresses the making of the album one year after the release. THIS IS A CRIME! Do these people have brains at all? I mean, this almost appears to be sabotage. She trusted her people when it comes to marketing, and they totally screwed it up. Perfect Goodbye for example could have been a Lana Del Ray song and would have been refreshing. Change my mind would work too. So many songs that would work well.

Yes indeed Perfect Goodbye has the vibe of Lana del rey I was thrilled to it, that style goes so well for her.

This song really touch me like no other song of her did for very long time. And the other one, in my opinion is a stellar!

but because they know that, they will simply ignore it. I see many singers doing live broadcasts on Facebook

I can't get out from my head how scared she was when one Interviewer asked her about

singing songs she never sang before, or sang them very few time, she had on her face expression of hate

for her own music, I admit this is a phenomena, this approach for her own music.

And you can start noticing the positive things I write about her music and songs,

whishing to see her taking her live shows to a more creative level, and staying true

to her words, aka supporting Celine

and not supporing the sad situation we've been witnessing for more than a year now.

I know English is her second language...that makes her sometimes go on and on to the point where I feel like she’s just saying words. That she doesn’t really believe in what she’s saying. It’s such a weird video/interview. They’re talking as if she’s not on tour yet, yet it was edited in October, and released now. Everything they’re doing defies any sort of logic - there’s no making sense of it.

 

They probably had some sort of plan to market the album - remember she was supposed the month of November essential off for promo - but, alas, she got sick and lost two weeks of the tour which had to be rescheduled during their promo time. I think it was a bit mistake to start the tour before the album was released. Again, there’s just no logic or sense there. Hopefully, they learned a lesson from that and, if we do ever get another English album (I’m starting to think we won’t see one until 2028/2029) I hope things are different.

 

I still love this album. Listen to it all the time - although it’s mostly my “Heart of Glass” EP rather than my “Courage” album. I actually think I’ll go back and revisit the Courage album now.

It was sad that she got sick during the promocion time, and we were so worried about her, but further on it seems they

didn't have any plans how to keep this album in the public consciousness, and her cutting off new songs

so quick while touring either helped here. No smart use in her online free platforms EVER.

They never really had plans with the promotion matter imo, all was done in rush from some unclear reason.

 

But what baffled me most was, that during the off days from the shows, when the album needed badly support

she did find the time to film and put to shame one of her most iconic songs in one meaningless commercial.

That means that when she IS IN for something she goes with it full force.

 

I can't see them having a new English album 7 years from now.

They will always have the option to release the leftovers from Courage, I'm sure they hid there some other jams

right with the video for LD

I don't get why some of you are excited about an interview almost a year old and too late.

 

It's sad to see how excited she is about the songs and the tour.

Knowing that she just sings like 2 new songs, and the rest is all messed up.

 

They definitely had the time to release some 'new' singles.

They don't care to promote the songs anyway so just release some songs as a single.

I won't cost them anything.

 

Could have taking advantage of the social media hype, but nah.

Could have released Nobody's Watching as a single, make it a tiktok challenge. But nah.

 

Release an interview about the tour and album like 10 months later. YEAAAH!!

 

This is all too little to late and it winds me up when these clowns now, nearly a year on from the first three songs being released start to post all this behind the scenes rubbish and recycle what has previously been posted about this album.

 

For an album that they epically failed, they seem somehow proud about the behind the scenes of it and less about the songs on it and releasing another music video whether it be lying down or another song from it regardless if Celine’s in it or not due to the current situation, as they have had a hell of a lot of time on their hands to do something since March.

 

Either way during this year off she needs to sort a lot of stuff out before her return and employee certain people as alot seriously needs to be improved on from a business point of view!!!

Btw, after some long months I managed to like, to a certain degree LD, the lyrics are strong, she sings it well

the only thing that ruined it was the endless auto-tune and it's pity, given her lovely raw voice.

 

I wonder if on the shows when she performed it, one could hear more of her raw voice.

haha yea the acting thing we have been hearing about for the past 20+ years... but alas @ this point it doesnt seem to actually come to reality, it has been all "talk" from celine, but after all these decades, nothing has still been done with celine being an actress (& no, a few VERY TINY guest appearances on TV over 20 years ago DO NOT COUNT & her also very tiny miniscle "cameo" in a muppets movie doesnt count either as acting lol!) & especially because of the movie industry (just like the music, television, & sports industries & every other entertainment industry,) right now being shut down because of the stupid pandemic, no new movies or shows are being filmed, so there would go any "acting opportunities" for celine thrown "out the window" anyway even if she wanted to act ughhhhh... 😣😬

Yes she work hard to record the album, no doubt about that. But once the production finished, then what? Doesn’t she has some kind of interest about marketing and promo? Does she doesn’t care about the promo and marketing at all? Doesn’t she follow and give some instructions to her team marketing wise? Is this what she mean by ‘I’ve got nothing to prove’ that she only doing recording and singing part and have zero interest about the promo/marketing/selling number?
