I hope Céline never acts in any movie. I don’t see the point. I don’t get singers who get into acting just for the sake of it. She’s an amazing singer with a successful career and she should focus more on that than trying to juggle with all these other things. It would be at most 2-4 months I suppose? Although that might not count preparation time. I think if she's not releasing new music or touring, she might as well venture off on a new project. But I'm only imagining a Maria Callas project, one where she is uniquely suited and also very interested. I don't think she should act in anything else.

IMO Celine must do whatever she wants to do. She’s an artist, a legend, an icon. Not just a singer.

But if she get’s to acting I hope we’ll get something really good and not a silly film.

There is a simple point: if she really wants to do it.

 

It's not as if it's something impulsive... she's been saying this for yeeeeears now. And the fact that it hasn't happened yet, is also very positive: she doesn't *just* wants to do it. She wants do it properly when the time is right. Will she be a good actress? We will see, but if you see her interviews, etc. she always loves to do personas etc. so she has it in her.

Does that mean that you want to do the same job forever? Everyone wants to try different things if they can. For a singer, getting an acting job would be like a promotion for the rest of us!

Some singers act on a movie to showcase their other talent. JLo for example.. she can really act. Barbra, Cher and many more. And I think céline can act.

Me too! I want to see her as a villain because people see her as a good person. Now, on a movie let’s see her as a bad person. I think Céline can be very scary haha

I don't know about a serious dramatic role; that would probably be a stretch. But she could definitely do a movie musical - like a Chicago, Mamma Mia, Moulin Rouge, that kind of thing. Don't think she could carry a movie, but she could definitely do a meaty supporting role.

 

But you make a good point - when she tries something, she doesn't just dabble. She goes all in and and pulls it off.

 

Anyway, this is all probably conjecture and wishful thinking. She's been talking about it for years, if it has yet to happen, it's probably for good reason.

 

Exactly. If she really wanted to steer her career towards acting, you’d think she’d use her music videos to showcase her ability — not just to strut around as usual. Obviously “Courage” the song may not be the choice to present those skills, but that in itself sort of proves my point. If her budget has room for 3 MVs and the two-thirds of them are basic, plotless, point-and-shoot fashion shows (and the other epic one is collecting dust in the vault) it’s a wasted opportunity.

I might change my mind. I think Disney movies could work for her. What I wouldn’t like is her being in some serious, boring, love drama thing.

I personally don’t thinks she has the acting chops to portray anything other than a version of herself. A villainess...not without a LOT of acting classes and coaching. Would love to be proved wrong though!

Not with the instant gratitude attitude and lack of attention span of most people in the world these days. Most want quick preview to judge whether or not they will purchase/download the song and probably would not watch a 3-6 minute video in its entirety.

You're so right with that. People want short, catchy and entertaining. Anything long they loose interest and move on to something else.

That's the current Nielsen data. And keep in mind the ~188k is physical + digital albums + digital track equivalents (10 tracks = 1 album) + streaming equivalents (3,750 ad-supported streams = 1 album, 1,250 premium streams = album, 3,750 video streams = 1 album).

With all that, it seems to be doing ~650 copies / week at the moment.

 

Maybe Sony decided to allocate their marketing dollars elsewhere, but for one reason or another, this really was the most poorly marketed album in her English career. A pity, as it's probably the best one, and one with a very marketable back-story.

To put it into perspective, here is info on Streisand’s last album - one of the few people on Celine’s level - and Mariah Carey’s last album - she’s another 90s pop singer so a peer to Celine.

maybe she should stick to a supporting role somewhere if she tries something. It would be a fun thrill if she stole the scene in some movie unexpectedly, in a supporting role

I honestly never really understood why Celine hasn't been casted in any movie, especially after her talking about acting all the time.

 

I'm starting to feel that she is not really that "wanted" by people in the industry.

Remember the story with Ryan Reynolds, she instantly said yes, for singing a boring song for R-rated movie, so there's definitely not a problem about her being "picky".

 

Kinda same feeling about her never singing duets with the biggest names out there (Adele, Gaga, Mariah, Beyonce, Pink, Bruno Mars etc). Maybe she just never got an actual invitation from anyone. Yes they do love her and sometimes work for her behind the curtain but that's about it.
