In my opinion, one of the best.

 

she sits there, walks around doing her normal bodily gyrations and hand gesticulations that she does on stage. no ounce of genuinity in it, looks so cliched and fake.

Anyway, she could promote the hell out of this album again.

Doing interviews from her home.

Perfect excuse for not being in a TV show in person now.

 

They should have made a remix of that song featuring Justin Bieber with a silly video on Zoom and released it as a single for the summer! Lol That would have been a fun thing to do in that boring pandemic time!

That could be a long time from now.

 

I think she & her team should promote it now (if she’s in a healthy place). Just simple posts, sharing stories, singing the songs from home like she did with The Prayer, etc. She could do a fabulous acoustic setup from home and sing her faves from the album — talking about each one a bit. It could bring her joy & be therapeutic. And we’d watch the album RISE.

While I don’t hate the “Courage” music video, it’s hard to disagree with your comment. My only thought is : if this is her best “dramatic acting” in front of a camera, then she can kiss her dream of starring in a serious movie goodbye! Her expressions and movements look really unnatural.

 

Still, I don’t hate it. It’s just Céline being her usual awkward self.

They didn't do much proper promo when the album released or during the tour. They didn't do the promo when the tour take a break. So what makes you think they are going to promote it when the tour restart?

I thought she was quite good in Des fleurs sur la neige. But that was eons ago, she was a different person then. Her music video "acting" since certainly hasn't inspired confidence.

That said, with humility and proper coaching, I believe she could do well in he right kind of role.

that was before she became huge and started being surrounded by her bubble and people who tell her how amazing she is at everything. the latest media adoration about her fashion stuff and ridiculous posing won't help get her back to reality. but i guess that is something the super rich and famous don't need to worry about.

As weird as it could sound I’m not sure we can or should judge her actress abilities based on her video clip history. I would never understand why but she is clearly not interested in doing that nor she thinks it could really be a first step in being a true actress.

And I also don’t think that any film director out there wouldn’t engaged Celine just because her video clip are bad or because she is just that stereotyped and exaggerated Celine Dion.

 

I’m sure she has strong ideas in mind and when the times comes she can be an amazing actress. I don’t know, her face her confidence, her story screams for that in my mind even if I would never say that her video clips and actress games in it are good. and I’m sure she can appeal with her look, her charisma, her story... to a lot of film producers.

these were 100% not her own ideas. I’m sure her comanagers told her that it’s good for her career. Moreover, she wouldn’t do that online acoustic event because she wouldn’t get any money for it, but would have to make an effort and prepare and sing. She got too comfortable and exclusive. She said in one of the Courage interviews last year that she had offers she and her team were considering, so there's interest.

 

And I agree that it's no good to judge her acting based solely on her mv. These videos that are normally over the top dramatic by nature and in which she has no character with a personality or backstory or even any lines. There are few that can work as a base to see if she has talent and in those, imo, she demonstrates she does. But at the end of the day no one can say she's good or not with any certainty because it's all our subjective opinion at this point.

I also distinctly remember someone that interviewed her mentioning how they didn't expect Celine to have the soul of an actress. I have to start saving some of these written interviews.

 

But just looking at the limited series she did in her 20's I'm convinced she'd be very good. It's also safe to say that she might not fit all kinds of roles, there's a reason lots of actors stick to a specific genre. Celine wants to do dramas, maybe she has a very particular idea of what type of role she would be good in and that's why she hasn't accepted any offers.

In my opinion she'd be great in dramas, period stories, maybe some dark comedies, and musicals.

 

And to be a biased Celine stan for a moment, she's shown to be good at everything she sets her mind to (singing, dancing, golf, fashion, etc). I have no doubt she'd show she can be a good actress.

I don't know about a serious dramatic role; that would probably be a stretch. But she could definitely do a movie musical - like a Chicago, Mamma Mia, Moulin Rouge, that kind of thing. Don't think she could carry a movie, but she could definitely do a meaty supporting role.

 

But you make a good point - when she tries something, she doesn't just dabble. She goes all in and and pulls it off.

 

Anyway, this is all probably conjecture and wishful thinking. She's been talking about it for years, if it has yet to happen, it's probably for good reason.

I would pay to see her in a good movie. Hopefully not just a caricature of herself. (ex. the Muppets)

To most people her lipping really isn’t that obvious and the rest don’t mind. Of course there will always be that 1% who complains that they didn’t pay to see her lipsync but she won’t stop just for them. The lipped songs are her biggest hits and most people expect to hear them a certain way, usually not knowing or not caring that they’re lipped.

 

Also, why smaller events? She has way too much demand (perhaps more than ever) to scale down anything. She should save that for when she can no longer sell out like she does now. Maybe in 30-40 years? And, in fact, she has done more small/intimate concerts than most artists out there. Over 1100 shows in a 4100 seat theatre. That’s intimate shows done in the Céline Dion way probably all we’re gonna get.

Fully agree. Plus, as I said, she’s done more of those than any artist of her stature.
