"Courage" album - Official Topic

I was joking everytime I said that she will forget about the album the day after its release.

Unfortunately their actions show that it was not a joke unfortunately.

But on a darker note - hate to be bearer of bad news, but album is currently sitting at #55 on Billboard Daily Top 200, with just 4.9k STEAs through end-of-day Monday.

Where’s the promo, Team Celine?!

Actually is there any promotion going on? Printed ads? Billboards? Commercials on TV, spots on the radio?! It seems Sony Music isn't doing that at all!

An ad for the album was played before an video on youtube that I was watching. It used Imperfections and its music video.

The logical part of my brain knows it's very very likely that this is all the promo we are getting but the hopeful part is holding out on Celine & team + Sony to have a long game that'll keep the album at least somewhat alive in people's minds (even if a little) throughout next year to maxamize the chance of Celine getting nominated for a few awards.

A girl can dream.

Regardless, as has been stated, I'm happy we've gotten more than we ever expected.

Celine will never be strong in streaming, she's a veteran/legend performer, and no matter how much respect she has from general music fans she's not what they are searching out for.

The only way I can see her truly getting back on top is if she goes back to releasing music/albums steadily, every year or two, doing heavy promo, performing on television, etc. Maybe we won't get the promo but she's expressed wanting to release consecutive English albums or singles. She had said she wanted a double album and Courage is basically that so who knows.

I'm just so happy she is still wanting to make new music and isn't planning on slowing down. The only thing that could really make this all better is if she performed more of her new songs on the tour.

Ok that's cool. But I wonder if they air on TV too? Like during The View or Ellen or some other big show?

Sony Music NL said they'd only do radio ads. Which is so stupid and a paradox! The radio doesn't play Céline!! A TV commercial would have been better IMO.

Said it before, this album deserves a proper TV Special! And Oprah

Most of these methods wouldn’t directly affect streaming. Now billboards though, didn’t Sony put up huge Spotify billboards in major cities?? Haven’t we seen Instagram ads for Courage?? Those are both way more likely to reach people than a fluff piece in Entertainment Weekly or Entertainment Tonight. Sure, I would have loved a traditional, prime-time T.V. Special, but maybe Sony/TC decided to spend their budget elsewhere, like on the aforementioned digital methods.

Then again we haven’t yet seen all the cards they have up their sleeves, either. There is at least 1-2+ music video (Lying Down, NY mansion/ IACBTMN), and a new season of award shows on the horizon. The show is far from over. “Calm down, people”. I stand by the idea that they have a more evenly-spread, long-term marketing plan for this album that will spill over into the New Year.

I see this album —both content-wise and PR strategy-wise— as a stepping stone to greater things. As far as I’m concerned, Courage might as well be her first English album... at least for her new career. In the 90s, she had David Foster, Jim Steinman, Phil Spector, etc. but those guys weren’t “cool”. Now she can work with anyone she f******* wants to. Ryan Reynolds, Sia, Sam Smith, etc. All she has to do is snap her fingers :-D

Maybe I’m wrong... maybe this is the END!!!

True about those digital billboards... I guess they helped a bit. But yeah it's hard to reach the streaming audience. What I always find annoying is that Céline songs are hardly ever added to Spotify playlists. And if they are, it's the same old TPOL/MHWGO/BYLM

It would be great if the new songs would be added to hot tracks or something.

Maybe I’m wrong... maybe this is the END!!!

So goodnight baby, kiss me now, don't make me sad

After midnight promise we'll never look back

This s*** is perfect

Each second worth it

Let's save this love before we go and hurt it now

Goodnight baby

The stars in the sky

This is the perfect goodbye

How Do You Keep The Music Playing? - Celine Opening Night March 15th, March 16th

Hard to reach younger audiences is not impossible. I was watching some reaction videos from Cleine's new album on Youtube, there are a lot of young people who don't know her and they are surprised that her voice and her new album is so good, some of these young people said they didn't even know her and never listened. from Celine.

So the game is working, they just need a little more disclosure, it needs to appear more on TV and cttar their new songs.

What I don't understand is that the people who bought the tickets are not redeeming their CDs, they have no interest in Celine's new music.

Some places the traditional media, like TV appearances are still very strong, as in Latin America, sony could arrange some interviews for the major television in Latin America to promote the new album, that would give a big boost here.

Streams are not what we need. We need promo that will induce physical sales fo more Céline’s core base. Streaming just will never translate to anything for her compared to the other young acts.

I’m amazed it’s now Wednesday and we haven’t heard anything of her all week. And she’s sat with a number 1 album...not for long :( I don’t expect it to sell millions (and obviously it won’t) but this week she should have been hammering it.

Finally I got my CDs yesterday so I played it and I have to say again that it is hard to listen to it in the order of songs as they are officially mixed. Still thinking about tracklist order, here is my list for now:

  1. Flying on My Own

  2. Heart of Glass

  3. Falling in Love Again

  4. Lying Down

  5. Courage

  6. Imperfections

  7. Change My Mind

  8. Lovers Never Die

  9. Nobody’s Watching

  10. The Chase

  11. For the Lover That I Lost

  12. Baby

  13. Look at Us Now

  14. Boundaries

  15. Say Yes

  16. Perfect Goodbye

  17. The Hard Way

BONUS

  1. Best of All

  2. How Did You Get Here

  3. I Will Be Stronger

I don´t like last two "bonus" songs so never mind for me if there were not on the album at all. Still thinking about FOMO if it ´s better to be opener or it would be better as last bonus song.

So my copy of the Japanese version arrived today! I'm super happy about that! Oh, and I love the postcard that's included!

Still not received the regular versions from celinedion.com, but at least CDjapan is professional.

Does it come with two versions of the album or something? In your picture, it looks like you have a Jewel Case version and a Paper Sleeve version?

No, that's just the postcard. The whole jewel case is kind of heavy though, with the poster and lyrics inside. :-D

And I love the included lyrics! I have no idea why they wouldn't include lyrics in all physical releases.

What I can't understand is how you promote an album without actually playing the songs. If she gives an interview on TV, we never get to listen to bits of the songs (not to say performances) so the audience can discover the album and look it up. It's more about René and fashion than about the songs.

For one mariah know how to capitalize her christmas song and mariah is very good in social media, participating in tiktok, glitter campaign, and with fans as well.

Why celine can't be more active with the youngsters and she does not even know what binge is. Sigh....

Anyway, her team needs to make her more viral. Cher for example is quite active on twitter. You can tell Cher write her quotes personally, not through a personal assistant!

Well Mariah doesn't have to do anything about her Xmas song. It's a yearly thing. Even if she is good using social media, did that help her last album? Her album Caution debuted (Mid-November 2018) at #5 in the US with 55k sales equivalent (44k pure sales). And in the UK, she debuted at #40 with 3,357 copies sold.

So she might know what Binge means, but does that translate into sales? It doesn't seem to make a difference. The problem is streaming, and any older act faces that problem, Mariah included. So Celine is doing exceptionally well worldwide.

Do you know what "Kudoes where kudoes are due" mean?

It actually seems to be a strategy to not play the songs!! Maybe to avoid shocking her fanbase for now? Then watch out, she will attack with the S word... :P

As for this bundle, I had a discussion about that with some friends, all agreed it's unmoral thing to do

to include an album within the price for a show. People should be given a choice

to buy it or not and point. I still think she could get a #1 thanks to her die-hard fans. :whee: :ermm:

You are given the choice to either bundle or not. You just then have to redeem the album afterwards. You can still buy a ticket and choose not to get the album with it.

Well, she will be a on a hugely televised show tomorrow on NBC (literally 20 plus million expected) and is performing the full version of Imperfections; and this is the day before BF. Hopefully that will translate into granny album purchases at Target on Friday. Hell, i don't care the age demographic who buy the damn CD i just want it sold lol.

Now, she just needs to jet to the UK on December 15 and film the X-Factor , or some other high profile shows Slay a Lying down performance and scare up some 40-50K last week of December sales.

Team Celine--Co managers--Sony--You reading this? ;)

I doubt it. Celine is just terrible and lazy when it comes to promoting her own music. She much prefers to promote the dead legends.

Why doesn’t she talk more about her new album in her show? Why doesn’t she promote the album?

While Celine is one of the hardest working women in the business, she doesn’t balance her hard work, she continues to try and perform an insane amount of shows in a year & WHEN after years she releases new music, she lets it die. I’d like huge success for Celine but who cares about the charts, however, this new music deserves to have a life onstage and to be promoted and shown off.

This is her best album since ANDHC and it’s frustrating as a fan, when she ignores it. We all could probably careless about the charts, if she actually sang these songs in her show and once in a while on television with a big appearance.

Instead we got “Courage” and “Lying Down” 2 of 20 songs in her COURAGE WORLD TOUR, then she FINALLY Adds “Imperfections” which should’ve been in this tour since day one........ but comes with a cost; we lose “Lying Down”. It’s like in Celine-land it’s a law to not have more than 2 songs from the album on the tour, it’s truly baffling.
