Let's just enjoy more and stress less. And let's get excited for the new set list!

 

I would love more promo because the album is so good it deserves to be heard by as many people as possible and she (and the writers/producers) deserves the recognition for it but this is what matters to me.

 

If she won't do big promo then she could at least sing more of its songs on her COURAGE tour.

 

Should we start a campaign if there aren't any changes when she comes back Dec 1st? We should bombard her social media, on posts TC make and create posts & tag her. They are watching us, maybe if we make enough noise they'll listen.

I'm surprised nobody responded to him that not every ticket sold means an album sold as he says. He should know better if he is in the business!

There is a small headline under Chart Beat way down the homepage. It's been flooded by the AMA's LARGE (!!) headlines and pics.

And you think Billboard could make an effort to include the album cover beside her name and album name on the chart.

Next week, things will be back to the way they were. So go go go! Post post post! Seize this rare moment in time! If we don’t flaunt for Celine, who will?!! Nobody!!! Celine isn’t a self promoter like Mariah so we’ve gotta boast for her.

 

I hope people continue to discover this brilliant album. It’s SO darn good and it deserves to be heard.

Well dude is wrong .. you had to Redeem album after purchase . I mean people had a choice to or not. Saves a lot of people from going to store and getting them ( although still waiting on mine ).

Celine has a number 1 in the United States this is very good, but I'm worried because there is no promotion of the album, just saw some sites talking about this feat. If their strategy was to keep Celine in the media because of the chart position it seems to have failed, no one is talking about it.

Still these days off I did not understand all this silence, I hope it changes.

But your post made me mad and I felt I had to reply, even if the 99% of the people here will write "OMG, that was a joke". So, again, really now???? First of all, you buy some food, clothes or water to a homeless, not a f***ing CD. I know, I know, your reply will be like "I was joking of course" but you don't make jokes about people dying on the streets that we should buy them the new album. Period.

One thing that sony failed this time is actually to include songs that featured another young rising artist, like a duet with shawn mendes or sam smith. She alone can't survive. She needs to expand her fan base by including fans from other artists. She used to have lots of duets single. With josh groban, r kelly, etc.

 

Pure physical album sales is no longer the way to go.

She's getting lots of news and press with the #1 album. My Top 40 radio station even said twitter was blowing up with it and the radio guy said 'its actually a really good album."

 

So, even if it plummets in the second week (for a veteran act, thats normal) she has a better chance of rebounding given the news and the time of year. She needs a couple performances on TV though..

I wish they had a better plan for maintaning this album, and not just to think about getting the first spot on Billboard

and then Bye (Ticket-bundle). Anyway, once she is back on Tour, I hope the album wlll have much longer 'life' on charts,

and she will start to promot this album actually in her own shows.

I've been reading about the Macy's Parade... it seems last year audience was over 23'000.000 (Compare that to last year's AMA's 6.5 million) ......Hope that gives Courage a boost

Yes that's the reasoning behind ticket bundle. It's not actually "cheating" as some here claim it is.

 

Think of it this way: a ticket, say, costs 150 dollars. But if they're doing ticket bundle they will advertise the price to the public as 165 dollars ($15 dollars for the album for example). So in reality, you paid for the album, you actually bought the album. The redemption portion now comes into play as a sort of you "acknowledging" that you got charged for the album too, so they send you the album.

 

If you didn't redeem, you just kind of paid for the album even if you didnt want to. But again thats where the redemption mechanism comes in. Neilsen Soundscan only counts redeemed album because of the "acknowledgement" part wherein u agreed that you got charged for the album as well. So there is no cheating there, the album was ACTUALLY SOLD to you, and only those redeemed will reflect in the charts. So on the "selling" part you probably got "cheated" if you didnt redeem, but as to the chart results, it still is an HONEST REFLECTION of the actual sales due to the redemption mechanism.

 

On the other hand, streaming is actually the more unreliable measure of "sales"... Because you just pay a subscription fee every month and listen to whatever yoy like, so your actual payment was not actually intended for a particular album or song artist, just a blanket payment for the usage/service. There's a reason why Neilsen Soundscan required x number of streams for it to be equivalent to an album sale because othereise streaming will be an unreliable measure of "sales."

 

I still think it's cheating.

There are artists I go to shows to whose album I would not buy - especially if I'm going to see a veteran act on a greatest hits tour.

But if I'm charged for a CD in my ticket, I WILL redeem it, not because I want it, but because I don't want to be robbed, which I would be if I'm not redeeming an item I paid for (also, it's a total financial scam if you don't redeem it - it won't count on the charts, but you'll have paid for something you don't get, and the company gets money... for nothing in exchange).

Therefore I'm FORCED to redeem it to not lose money, whereas I would not buy it without the tour bundle.

Thus, it's an unfair boost which do not reflect the real popularity - it's dishonest.

 

But I really don't think streaming is fairer in reflecting sales either. Why not relying on the actual sales (digital and physical)? They lower and lower, but they exist. It's a very different action to stream something for free than make the real effort to buy them.

Why do the charts make maths this way? To reflect the new way people consume music nowadays? Maybe.

Or is it they want to put big numbers out there to impress, 'cause more is better, right?

Ah, Capitalism....

 

I know they all do it now so it kinda equalizes things a bit. But the NYT article just proves how problematic such a trick is.

The Macy's Parade is on Thursday - which is also the last day of week 2 for chart calculations. So the sales impact will probably be reflected in the charts in week 3 (rather than week 2) I guess.

So hold on for the big drop next week unfortunately (but this is to be expected with all tour bundles). It might then rebound a little the following week.
