Celine is #1 in France? Wikipedia say yes but I thought the best-selling album in France is from a rapper. What happened? Is this true?

She's #1 on the sales chart and #2 overall but now I'm not sure which is viewed as the official one!

Well the thing I hate about zero promotion, is the fact that the big audience isnt gonna hear and experience these amazing songs! Celine made a terrific album and for it not to have an impact is just depressing

 

Seriously though, this album deserves a TV special like ANDHC had!

Because from Chartsinfrance article, it mentioned the album chart is digital and physical album combined, specially mentioned Without Streaming.

I was also very disappointed that Céline was not at the AMA! What a missed opportunity having the #1 album this week in America!! So sad ! It would have been a great opening instead of Selena who had a hard time singing!

It seems the official chart in France is the one that combines sales and streaming - she's #2 on that one.

Celine Slays Competition With No. 1 Album Selling 50K+ Copies

 

Celine Dion’s Courage debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard Canadian Albums chart with 55,000 total consumption units. It is the highest one-week consumption total since Drake’s Scorpion picked up 70,000 in July 2018. With 53,000 albums sold, Courage also has the highest one-week-cash register total since Taylor Swift’s Reputation sold 80,000 copies two years back, in November 2017.

 

This is Dion's 15th Canadian chart-topping album in the Nielsen SoundScan era, with all four of her albums released this decade reaching No. 1. All in, she has sold 8.3 million albums in Canada in the Nielsen SoundScan era, over three million more than the current runner-up, Eminem.

 

Noteworthy, too, is the fact that Courage marks Dion’s fifth US No. 1 album, and her first chart-topper in over 17 years, according to Billboard. She was last at No. 1 with 2002’s A New Day Has Come.

Lovers Never Die is certainly an ear worm once you can get the verses down after a few listens

 

I really think a mashup of Lovers Never Die/Baby/Change My Mind or something of the similar could work in the tour! But honestly I am just glad to have them recorded and we can listen!

Initially i was but then i thought the there is actually only one album per order...a lot of artists do one album per ticket, which i think is a bit unfair cause for couples that go to a show most don't buy two copies of an artists album anyway. In the end I think anything over 50K in Canada these days is insane. No other act in her league comes close. I'm proud!

I just noticed that Courage Deluxe edition has risen (doubled in position almost) in iTunes in the USA...was hovering in the mid-40s and now is up to 24.

 

I wonder if the news of her being #1 in nation sparked interest?? She's had no tv exposure this week...

 

Looking forward to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade performance (and right before Black Friday) this week. Would love to see a big spike in sales.

 

I sure hope Sony/Columbia are getting ready to stock Target and Walmart with the physical copies for this Friday.

You shouldn't be disappointed at all. The best debut so far this year in Canada. And if you read the text above, Celine has the highest one-week total since Drake and Taylor Swift - who are both top sellers in the business.

If you compare to market size, 55k would be the equivalent of 550k units in the US!!

I know Céline is not a streaming artist but still im surprised at the numbers that are very low... That's so sad! I really hope she will promote more this album and sing those amazing songs!

Target: 3.9k

Walmart: 1.4k

Barnes & Noble: 0.4k

Others: 0.5k

Best Buy: -

Internet / Mail Order / Venue: 95.3k

Digital: 7.6k

Total albums: 109k

 

Digital songs (TEAs): 3.7k

Total sales: 113k

 

The "Internet / Mail Order / Venue" line is not further broken down, and I imagine Amazon is included here, but I don't think Amazon is a super high number. The album hasn't exactly been doing great there. Currently at #19, and the few times I've checked this week it's been out of the top 20. (I don't have access to Celine's Amazon numbers, but from experience, it can take <100 physical units / week to get into Amazon top 30).

 

So yeah, this ain't great. The ticket bundle clearly is what drove it.

 

This week, so far it's fallen to #15 (keep in mind this is just album sales; once you factor in streaming it'll fall much further, since streaming numbers are comparatively very week):

Total week-to-date: 2.9k (through end-of-day Sunday)

For reference, Jason Aldean is currently at #1, with 42k, Coldplay #2 with 24k, Frozen #3 with 20k.

It's actually not vying for the No. 1 spot as that spot is most likely going to Jason Aldean. Coldplay is battling for the 2nd or 3rd spot.

So Jimmy Fallon, interview no performance, late night talk show on a Friday, aka the worst slot.

Then WWHL with Andy Cohen on Bravo, a cable network night time show, again no performance.

 

That's it right? She literally hasn't even promoted or sung one song on TV and won't until Thanksgiving Day, a pre-taped clip of her singing Imperfection for the first time and again on a holiday only for the US, so none of these 3 appearances are even shown anywhere else.

 

It's crazy that there's literally nothing else planned and next week is December. I don't know what the strategy is... expecting the tour to promote the album? Which doesn't even make sense, since she literally only sings 2 songs from a new album of 20 songs.

So I still haven't received my copes of the album that I ordered from the official Celine Dion boutique. I'm so frustrated now, I want to send them an angry email. I wish I could just cancel my purchase and go and buy it somewhere else, but I guess my only option is to wait and get more pissed by each day it doesn't arrive. Wtf is the hold up?!

 

I did however get an email today confirming that the Japanese version will arrive on the 27th So It looks like I'm gonna get the Japanese version that I ordered through CDjapan before the regular versions that I pre-ordered months ago.

Just remember, Rene wanted her to have a cereer, not a hit album. And they did just that. At 51, she topped the charts by mostly selling physical album copies... World tour is selling great, which is where the money is... I'd say they are doing a pretty good job, plus the album is really a gem, which for us the fans should be the most important thing. I wished for a good album, and not a number one album, and got just that. The only problem for me is the lack of new songs on the tour live... Hopefuly that will change by the Euro leg...

It’s not confirmed confirmed. Gatica replied to someone on Instagram and said that PMLALS would be released on Valentine’s Day..that’s all we know. The rest is putting pieces together/rumors.
