He knows very well how Céline has neglected her music repertoire and her international status during all the Vegas residency

I wish something good out of here.

I wish we find a good change, but I'm not sure that singing some classics of the artists named, it be the only thing to improve or change her career. For me with a single cover, may be enough.

Javito could you give us non-Spanish readers a full translation ? ( only when you have the time of course)

AHA! - five years of record drought hahaha and long periods in refugee Vegas ( as if she was hiding under a stone or fled away from music business! i like the tone of the article! it is exactly how it is. How a contradiction when it about a revival when having her singing old songs from already known artists.. it won't bring her back with those songs at all.

I hope Humberto will do his best with this repertoire.. and we will see .. and of course HEAR

That ain't gonna happen if they record an album with a bunch of gazillion year old songs. Did the release of ''Alone'' teach them nothing? It was a big flop. Nobody takes the covers seriously anymore. She needs fresh original songs.

I'd really like to know the true reason for their (or rather Rene's) obsession with recording that many covers and old songs which were once made famous by other artists. :hmm: :hmm: :hmm:

Thank you for translate of article. About Céline and covers, true is that Céline recorded covers for many of her albums during years , but it seems that they do it more and more, sometimes I think the reason is they don´t believe in her songs, so they decided for songs which are already known, it´s like they don´t want to take a risk.

From Humberto's comments the "team" seem to realize that Celine's importance in the music industry is fading and whilst it's perhaps not important to them to get good chart positions they do seem to want to cement Celine's relevance as an artist.

Yet in the same article he seems to suggest they are looking at yet more covers.

How anyone at Sony or within Celine's production team could think this is they way to make her more relevant and her recordings seem more important down the line is far beyond me.

from Dinah Washington I only know the song - mad about the boy. It is a nice song, don't know how Celine's interpretation would be ..

In my opinion everyone in her team has realized her career has been fading all these years except Céline and René themselves. They're too blinded with the neon lights of the Sin City.

In the article it says literally in spanish that "Humberto will revive the classics of the femenine songbook, like those of Etta James, Dinah Washington or Billie Holliday", so that clearly refers to songs that belonged to these artists, but who knows... hopefully you're right :thumbsup2:

I caught myself thinking exactly the same, but who knows maybe the only thing that's left is to record Celine's vocals.

I'm still happy for Celine working with Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, cannot wait to hear the final result of their cooperation.

By the way, if Titanic is to be re-released on April 6, 2012, then it's possible that Celine's album will be released around the same date, don't you think? That would boost the sales and create much more hype. I don't think it would make sense to release the album, let's say, at the end of April, three weeks after Titanic’s premiere.

Any thoughts on that?

I hope that the album will be good and original, but I doubt it will be considering all the news here. TC was a very refreshing and original album to me, but I don't know about this one.

I'm guessing we're getting an album similar to Let's Talk about Love.

I hope not. It was selling well just because of the Titanic song. It had a few good songs but as a whole, I see it as a boring album. She has done much better job in other recordings.

Such an album would be relevant if they released it back in March 2011 - Celine was busy, show's songs = easy and quick choice and other covers = easy quick choice and in the right context

But now they really had a loooooooooot of time (even if you don't count 2009, 2010) to come up with new material, but postponing and postponing just to release a bunch of covers I don't get it.

And the article with Humberto is just the best conlcusion out of this discussion = chaos

Do we have any news of Tricky Stewart (the one behind Skies of LA) collaborating with Celine on her new English album? I remember that back in 2009 there was a rumour that Celine liked very much the song I Look to You he produced for Whitney Houston that she called him and discussed possible cooperation on her future releases.

I mean, if I got it right, he was supposed to be one of the producers of Celine's famous SUMMER ALBUM 2010 (that's funny). I wonder if they'll ever again consider the possibility of working with Tricky Stewart. I Look to You was definitely the best song from WH's last studio album.

P.S. Check out the CREDITS section on Tricky Stewart's page from Wikipedia (English version). Now that's what I call irony. :-D
