New English Album - "Water and a Flame" (Pre-Release Thread Part 1)

By no means, am I trying to start anything. But why is everyone jumping on people who are saying this and that about the album? I love Celine, but let's face it the past two English Albums they were good, but they didn't get the correct promotion. I'm not trying to sound harsh, but we have seen it happen twice, why would we not be surprised a third time the album doesn't excel?

Everybody knows Celine Dion, but why is the team so afraid to take a chance with her? Let her sing uptempo songs, find some that are uptempo but at the same time she uses her voice a little more. "Sorry For Love," it's uptempo but then she hits that Sorry note and it's pretty amazing. Us fans are going to stand behind her no matter what, but try something new so she can be out in the spotlight again, don't pull a Madonna and forget all of your previous songs, but whenever she does a television promotion just sing the single and another song off the album.

David Foster please come work again with Celine!

If David makes Shania Twain's new album get good promotion maybe they will get him again.

What does Foster has do to with promotion choices anyways? Is'nt he just a producer?

NO MORE FOSTER! He did all he could with Streisand and Dion.

Wow. ANDHC is 10 years old. That makes me feel really old. I'll never forget buying it. It was the most excited I ever was for a new album.

I don't really care for uptempo songs. When she sings them live they'll either be a trainwreck of a mess (SOL, LCMM, CFTF) or they'll just be lipped (TC, IDAN, EOM). I'd rather her do songs that she'll do live, and that will sound decent. Just about the only uptempo song that was done right on the tour was Fade Away, and I hesitate in saying that simply because it lacked a little bit of punch there towards the end, though in Africa she sang that song perfectly.

I was thinking more like I'm Alive, I liked the tour version but it was just the production of it.

All of the dancers looked like they came out of the Lion King or something. :sofunny:

I guess up tempo slow songs like "Dreaming of You," and "Declaration of Love"

IDAN, would be better if she would just stop the hand waving thing. :-D

I wish she'd stick with Ben Moody, Kara Dioguardi, and Linda Perry. They DEFINITELY got the best from Celine.

Kara is an absolute friggin ***t... and believes shes way up there with the best of them, when in fact its all in her head and is actually clueless, rude and talentless... u just have to look at her studio sessions with Celine on the TC album. Edited January 3, 2012 at 10:35 PM by Shamrock29

David though she had more time to do MIRACLE while Celine had only 5 days, even thinking the only problem is her voice isn't in great shape

Umm, and what is wrong with that?? I personally would LOVE for every producer to be that determined to get the best out of Celine, rather than do it once and sound mediocre and then let her go home for the day when its only 1pm to go see her babies...

I totally disagree. "Taking Chances" and "Surprise Surprise" are the best in her modern catalog. She may have a swelled head, but her work with Celine is SUBLIME. As Celine said, Kara gave her her best.

Compared to her less than stellar interpretation of "A Song For You", Kara's work is monumental!

I went to Wal*Mart after school--but first got money out of my bank account! I went home and watched her appearance on Oprah! GREAT DAY!

Yeah that's right, although it might sound hard, sometimes Celine needs this type of people to push her so she can hit perfection.

I've never really liked Kara as a person. She just gave off a bad vibe on American Idol but beside that Kara is a great songwriter.

I think Diane Warren should be back with Celine, she wrote Cher "You Haven't Seen The Last of Me" and it was wonderful. Plus Diane knows how to create those songs that will last forever. If she could give something like "I Want You to Need Me" or something like Reba McEntire's "I'll Be." I don't want a recap of "Miracle," but a little song she could say it's for her boys.

Céline should do Céline instead of trying to do deferent things. I love true ballad ilke it's all coming back to me now, the power of love, to love you more. Where are songs like that this days?? I want song that last 5 minutes, 3 minutes?? they never put her in the radio so why the 3 m format.

I want same old céline.

Up-tempo songs would be great, maybe some dance songs (like 70's, 80's kind of songs) along with some power-ballads like TPOL, IACBTMN, MHWGO, etc. :yes:

Foster could be great !! Diane Warren, a dream !! Kara, she did great with Surprise Surprise but she's not the best one out there I believe :shrug:

I cant wiat for april 2012, I agree Kara did a great job from taking chances album. Thumbs-up for up-tempo songs, Celine should try to make something fresh this time

Yes I totally agree. Taking Chances and Surprise Surprise are way ahead Céline's other modern material production wise.

But I really see Darren's point too. A little humbleness when you work with a legend wouldn't hurt. And I still can't forgive her for One Heart (the track) but I guess it wasn't she who made it a single so she's not to take the total blame...

This is very good news. I couldn't be happier. It's been such a long time we last saw photos of her being in the recording studio. By the way, there were no rumours of Celine working with Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, right? So there might be more surprises on this album.

There were rumors about it in 2007, he should've worked on some tracks for 'Taking Chances', but the concept of the album changed and they moved over it.
