Humberto Gatica just said that he'll travel to Las Vegas next week to talk with Celine about the songs that are scheduled to be recorded in Florida on February 1st. He also said that the album will include tribute to some of the biggest female singers of international music, such as Etta James, Dinah Washington and Billie Holliday.

 

So looks like this time it won't be a radio-friendly album, according to this information.

Well it´s not the best news, but on ANDHC was also Nature boy or At last, but if this info si true it seems that minimum half of songs will be covers.

Please don't bring up the topic that ANDHC has covers too. It's not the argument. Yes, it has a few but only 2 were let's say known by the public but nevertheless it was real come back with bunch of radio friendly songs, full of joy and happiness, many of them wre uptempo and the singles were only original songs! It was a comeback with unique Celine and now this album will be recorded by Celine but it won't be original. I think that we have to face the fact that the first information about the album that it'll have only 3 inedits is true. Ok, I understand show covers, but more? Yes there could be some unknown covers like always but then it shouldn't include show songs. I am really sad that Celine can't come up with her own material although it's been always said that she receives thousand songs a year! I don't understand it, Rene, Sony, even Celine... at one point she can say that "wait a minute, I want to record sth new, not the covers'. Let's not forget she has a right to speak.

 

Artists over 60 release tribute albums or old classics albums but why Celine, why now! Confused!

Agree with what you say about ANDHC. By no means you can say that ANDHC was an album with covers, when it only has 2 songs out of 17! By no means. It was flooded of original and fresh material. But it all seems that they are obsessed with bringing loads of covers, no sense tributes and random hommages with this new album

 

Pd: I'm sure Humberto Gatica is as pissed as the fans with this *apparent* selection of songs, the same way as he was bored with the high number of covers in the Vegas show.

I only wanted to tell that even if covers (songs from 50-ties and 60-ties) will inlude on new album, it also can include some new fresh songs, simply it could contain mix of styles, but I don´t wanted compare it with ANDHC of course it was new album with new material, oh if only this new album could be as ANDHC, but it seems that after long waiting it was only dream ...

Celine isn't a karaoke singer! and I don't care about other artists' songs! I love her for ANDHC or MHWGO not for Open Arms, At Seventeen or Man in the mirror. Think first, then write.

I don't think she needs to do so...

 

I'd rather she released only French album this year!

 

If you want to listen to the covers, go to vegas (yes, I'll try to go there too)! but an international album after 5 years of absence with them? I feel brokenhearted

I was just listening to some songs by Baby Face and was on my way back here to post that it sounds promising, and then I see the latest news. That does not sound too good. I really don't get what Celine's obsession with recording gazillion year old songs is. I really hope that there are just 3 or 4 covers on the album.

i like the fact that she includes some old classics, i think that she can do a good job with that....It can be old but always good. Celine will bring her touch. there is no definitive interpretation when you do this kind of music. The same thing can be said about classical music, i have 4 differents recording of Mozart Requiem's and they all have qualities and i listen to all of them.

 

But i am a bit old and it is possible that my tastes are not the same of younger people. I like Ne me quitte pas, it is subdue and it was someting lacking in her english carreer, so if she can do the same thing for some english titles, i'm all for it.

My personal opinion is that I was expecting some radio friendly songs. Maybe we shouldn't get our hopes down because it's too soon. Maybe these covers and tribute songs (however they wanna call them) are not released as singles and they release a mid-tempo song as the lead single from the album, respecting the concept of the full project, that's very important, at least for me.

I think it is not CELINE's obsession but RENE's or het PRODUCTION TEAM's obsession. I don't want her to pay tribute to all those singers mentioned, because that means another load of songs that are old and already have been done by the respective artists. Those songs were original and people love the original versions of these songs. If Celine wants to pay tribute to them, fine, but in Vegas and not on a new album that should be a comeback album - in terms of - original songs sung by Celine. We already knew which Vegascovers will be recorded for the album and now even more covers are planned!!! come on! Celine everyone offers you great songs, talented writers and composers enough that like to work with you... but instead even more "tribute" coversongs.... a big no for me.

Of course I am gonna buy the album but for sure will skip the first 8 or maybe more tracks to hear the fresh new material, that is where I am waiting for! not the already done by so many others versions.
