mike_z Posted May 27, 2013 at 10:16 PM Posted May 27, 2013 at 10:16 PM Actually, "Je N'ai Pas Besoin D'amour" was the only song on the album that she performed TWICE live. That must mean something. Either it's her favorite of it's gonna be the 4th single, at least in Québec! 1 Quote
Alex_Incognito Posted May 27, 2013 at 10:31 PM Posted May 27, 2013 at 10:31 PM I think that just means they like the song. And they should,it's the best one on the album! 1 Quote "People pay 20-25 dollars to see you."- Céline Dion, 1990
celine-rc Posted May 27, 2013 at 11:40 PM Posted May 27, 2013 at 11:40 PM I liked that song from the beginning and I'm liking it more and more as the months go by ! 1 Quote http://images.lpcdn.ca/435x290/201103/17/305341.jpg Merci Céline pour ces deux soirées inoubliables que j'ai passées à tes côtés. Je ne les oublierais jamais. J't'adore Céline. Merci. <3
Chin Posted May 28, 2013 at 04:54 AM Posted May 28, 2013 at 04:54 AM Also, if this song becomes the single, the public will like "Je n'ai pas besoin d'amour (I don't need love)"? Celine Dion? This song can surely bring attention to public Quote
mike_z Posted May 28, 2013 at 05:37 PM Posted May 28, 2013 at 05:37 PM I'm gonna be honest... it's one of the best songs on the album, but something was going on with her voice when she recorded it. Want me to write the "r" word once again? LOL... Thing is, it sounds better live for that reason. Maybe if we had got a better studio version... who knows... ATTENDRE remains my favorite, I insist, it could have been the new PQTME! 2 Quote

I was shocked last weekend when I wanted to share some of the great songs from SA on a friend's Facebook page, and I couldn't find the official music of PAMP anywhere on YouTube. Must be they censored all of the unofficial videos of the music video, too? Not cool, Sony! Quote Tu n'es pas l'amour de ma vie, tu es la vie de mon amour.

The only music video from the Sans Attendre album that we can watch on YouTube here in the US is "Qui puet vivre sans amour?" I personally like all 3 of them QPVSA? was just my favorite and it doesn't bother me that they all are quite similar because they are great, she doesn't need to have over the top, eccentric music videos like some artists do today. Mariah Carey's latest music video got a lot of harsh criticism because it was not "age appropriate" for her based on her clothing choice and what not. IMO, Mariah Carey herself is not age appropriate. She's only two years younger than Céline...she still acts like a 24-year-old. 2 Quote Tu n'es pas l'amour de ma vie, tu es la vie de mon amour.
smw Posted June 7, 2013 at 06:55 PM Posted June 7, 2013 at 06:55 PM I could go on and on about Mariah Carey -- It's funny how the other divas sneak into all of the topics on this forum. Mariah is just trying to stay relevant. Her popularity/relevance is obviously more important to her than critical acclaim or legacy. If her last album was DAYDREAM, she would have left a lovely legacy in pop music. But…… then she got a divorce from Tommy Mottola and she shed her classy skin. It was also around that time that her voice started to decline dramatically. Her voice was stellar once upon a time. Go listen to the entire MUSIC BOX album. Really stunning vocals. But since her voice has declined so much, she really doesn't have any other choice other than to record middle-of-the-road pop music that will fade away by tomorrow. (With that said, BEAUTIFUL the song (not the video) is one of her better cuts in recent years.) With all of that said ---- I am so, so, so proud of Celine for SANS ATTENDRE. It was a reminder that she is going to leave such a sparkling, one-of-the-kind legacy. She has created so many beautiful projects in French. Her legacy in French speaking areas will be BOTH her voice and her music. It legacy in English speaking and other areas will be her voice. 3 Quote

I agree with your assessment of Music Box and Daydream, I still enjoy them top to bottom. As for Sans attendre, I will be perfectly honest and say that I wonder if it will hold up, at least in my own personal view. I have loved D'eux and SSDA since the very first time I heard them and still enjoy them as holistic works. That said, I also enjoyed 1F4T when it first came out and will admit that there are a few tracks on there that I still enjoy (e.g., Je lui dirai, Mon homme, Retiens moi, Des milliers de baisers). The remainder of the album is much MUCH less exciting to me now than it was in 2003-2004. For D'elles, I think it's similar, although there might be 1-2 more tracks on D'elles that I continue to like. So with this third French studio album since 2000, which has certainly enjoyed substantially more commercial success, I wonder if my excitement for the album will continue into the years and decades to come or whether, like 1F4T and D'elles, I will grow tired of the majority of the tracks and it will become the album that contains a few songs that I enjoy, rather than a complete work that stands the test of time. mike_z Posted June 7, 2013 at 08:04 PM Posted June 7, 2013 at 08:04 PM "Retiens-Moi" is one of her best french songs ever... so is "Je Lui Dirai"... But the success of "Sans Attendre" is simply remarkable. It's as though we were "back in the day". In her french career, she's on top of her game... we could compare it (in terms of success and impact, to Madonna's "Confessions" in the US) 4 Quote

Neddo Posted June 7, 2013 at 08:45 PM Posted June 7, 2013 at 08:45 PM What's interesting that Sans attendre is pure pop, except Qui peut vivre sans amour which is multi versatile rock song and Ne Me Quitte Pas is chanson. Hopefully new English album will be versatile and Water and a flame, which is already versatile song too, gives me hope. 1 Quote http://imageshack.us/a/img138/7804/5tq2.png

LuisMa Posted June 7, 2013 at 11:01 PM Posted June 7, 2013 at 11:01 PM I wonder why they make those silly decisions of blocking in X country or whatever, because you can find some darn IP blocker and watch it as if you were somewhere else, and then, you might not get to watch it on YouTube, so you'll resort to downloading it from a torrent or finding it somewhere else. It's really weird, but there has to be a reason... one that I'm sure I'll not understand. Quote
