I was just teasing, but I know he was saying today that he thought Celine should have sung one of her own singles instead of At 17 at the Grammy nominations, and that he didn't want the At 17, Overjoyed, Open Arms type of songs on the new album. Maybe that's a little different than all the people who get upset about her doing covers. . anyway, it was just meant to be funny -- no offense intended. :flowers:

i was just teasing myself.. when a comment is made with respect, there is never a problem,

But I thought you didn't like it when Celine sings covers! :)

I've never said "I don't want Céline whe she sings covers", that way, categorically. What I've been saying, especially after the covers festival which is her Vegas show since 2011, is that I don't like her singing SO MANY of these nowadays. But nowadays is 2013, and when "Dion Chante Plamondon" was released it was 1991 and she was just building her career. She had to be known by her first big album releases, and I understand that back then she used to pick some covers for her concerts or albums to get to be known and popular. The perspective is very different to see her singing covers in 1991 than in 2013, when she has like 25 albums at her back with many great original songs :)

But those times had gone long ago, that was more than 20 years ago and the start that Céline is today and all her biggest albums remained to be seen yet. Today, after more than 30 years of career, I can't understand that she resorts to singing covers that much in her concerts as well as in her albums. That's what I don't like :) But I do like many of her covers like The First Time, The Power Of Love or Falling Into You :)

The fuss existed and was there because it was an album so long awaited. She spent more than 5 years since D'elles without new french music, and D'elles was an album which was barely promoted and it was a flop. So compared to D'elles, which set the bar very low, its understandable that the next album to arrive would have it easy to exceed the expectations and please the public :) Céline's public was "hungry" and avid for new music, so they would listen and buy whatever she put out after 5 years without new songs from her (I hope this same success happens again for the new english album, cross your fingers and toes everyone!)

That said, saying that this album is "great" or her best album of the decade like its been said here looks a litte exaggerated. No album has still surpassed the pen, the production and the artistry given in the trilogy Dion chante Plamondon/D'eux/S'il suffisait d'aimer, and I highly doubt it ever will, unless Céline goes under the direction of a same songwriter again (who is the only one who can provide a little of cohesion and unity to her albums).

To me, there's only two or three songs that can rival to those included in the JJG or Plamondon albums, and that honour would go to "Attendre", "Une chance qu'on s'a" and "Si je n'ai rien de toi". Those are memorable moments in the album, especially the first two.

But the rest is like... meh, its ok. As much as I love other tracks like "Qui peut vivre sans amour", "Moi quand je pleure" or "Celle qui m'a tout appris", I found these like I've listened and read about their stories many times before in other voices. And for example, a song for which I had personally very high expectations, "Que toi au monde" by Mr. Plamondon, was a big disappointment to me. And the disappointment went to annoyment when I listened the original version by David Exposito and the original tempo they had for him: why the hell did Celine had to change the music into a more slower, sadder and insipid version, when the original one sounded that good as it was? That's another proof of how much she can ruin a song she's covering, believing she will make a better version making a slower one. Fail!. So this one is a song I regrettably skip when I listen the album

Other tracks like "Les petis pieds de Lea" or "Le miracle", while I find they're nice to listen, they're not memorable at all IMO.

I completly agree, I love D'Eux, S'il suffisait d'aimer, D'Elles....Jean Jacque + Celine = Magic....I will have another listen of her new french album as I downloaded it from Itunes a few months ago but I don't think i'll ever love it like I do most of her other recent albums that she's released in the past 23 years....

I have good feelings about 'Loved Me Back To Life' though from the songs i've heard so far like the title track and At Seventeen and then another singer's (Ivy) version of Breakaway I have good feelings for the album, I don't think we will be dissapointed.

I strongly disagre with the Plamondon album "full of fillers"! :P The songs included in "Dion chante Plamondon" have been covered by many many singers by the time Céline recorded it in 1991, and they keep covering those songs... how can these be fillers?!

Not to mention the brilliant songs 'Le Monde est stone' and 'Le Blues Du Business Man' 'Ziggy, un garcon pas comme les autres' 'L'amour existe encore'

Dion Chante Plamadon is really good album, in fact i've not listened to it all the way through in years, I may listen to it tonight, I remember getting the album from HMV in the imports section and rushing home to play it and that was over 15 years ago, I remember loving the album....

Celine's french albums helped me get an 'A' in french for my GCSE's

It depends what you're looking for in an album, I suppose. I agree with you that there is no masterpiece like D'Eux -- but I love SA a million times more than Dion Chante Plamondon. Sans Attendre was great becuase the songs were largely, as Rene said, made to measure for Celine. This made for deeply emotional performances of songs with beautiful melody -- where the emotion came through but the singing was still largely understated. Dion Chante Plamondon is one of my least favorite albums because, to me, there's very little melody in those songs, and the lyrics, for the most part, have nothing to do with Celine (and I find some of them pretentious and irritating).

But in SA: Like you, I love Une Chance Qu'on S'a -- a beautiful love song about mature, reciprocated love, expressed beautifully in the warm blending of two voices. And C'elle Qui M'a Tout Appris . . .to me, this is one of Celine's most deeply affecting songs, because I, too, am very close to a mother who's growing older. (Not as old as Celine's mother. .but that concept -- that role reversal of beginning to take care of the one who taught you everything -- while you still feel lost yourself -- it's expressed and convyed so beautifully in that song. And her delivery is incredible . .especially the way her voice trembles when she talks about her mother following in the path traced by her father. If it's not a song you can relate to, i guess it's not that interesting. But if it is, it becomes very powerful. Same with Les Petit Pieds de Lea . .its an emotional song about the loss of a child, and Celine's own loss gives tremendous emotional power to the performance.

Anyway, we all have different tastes and approaches to what we like ... just my thoughts.

Hmmm I see your point, maybe I need to give the album a chance....I guess because I am not fluent in french (hoping to go back to college for evening class in french) when I listen to french songs the melody is very important to me to get an emotional connection to song and to me (baring in mind I'm english) there were only a few song with good melody....May be you have to be fluent in french to get the emotional connection due to the lyrics Celine sings....

I don't understand french so it's hard for me to like the song because it's lyrics so i just believe my ear, i think that's what my friends do who like this album too since none of us understand french and none of them a really Celine's fans. SA have a special place in my heart because my ear like it so much. I have listened original version of QTAM, after a few listen i still prefer Celine's version. Theres so much unexpected sound on SA that makes it so fun to listen for me. So for me this is one of the best french album of her.

So is the promo for this album over? Is Sony really done with this album? 😕 I am watching again the canadian TV Special, where she sang all the new songs live, and she gives me chills, her voice was outstanding that night, maybe because it was the first presentation of the album to the public ever.

What a huge stupidity that Sony doesn't want to make justice to this album sales releasing more singles like Attendre and Si je n'ai rien de toi, two jewels that were worth for some attention from her record label and radios!

Too bad, Sony will never make due justice to Celine albums anymore, keeping decent promotions and support after the first single is done... 😠😠😠

Oh stop it. The album had a great promo compared to the past French album, it has great sales, 3 singles (2 that were quite successful) and 3 music videos. They carried out the promotion well into the 2nd single, it was only the 3rd one that got no promo. Sony really upped their game with this album and now its time for them to work and focus on the upcoming English album and its promo. It isn't like this was the only album she was releasing for the next year or so which would allow and make sense for the promo to last as long, but she has another album coming out and it makes sense they would want to focus on LMBTL and its potential success it could have with a stellar promotion. Even if they did release more singles they would probably get less than what QPVSA? got promo wise. Its time to focus on planning and setting up a great promo for the English album. And I am sure that once Celine starts her concerts in Europe and sings more songs from SA it will have a sales boost.

No I won't stop it. You have no idea, she could have both albums promoted at the same time, its happened before and it can happen again. Just for your information, in 1998 she had up to THREE albums promoted at the same time, in different stages and countries. There was a time when singles from LTAL, These Are Special Times and the french album SSDA were playing all over the world. Let me remind you that the Sony Music branch who is in charge of her french album promotions is Sony Music FRANCE, and they can perfectly release another single from SA even if the first english single is knocking at the doors. Sony France is not Sony USA or Sony UK, if they want to play a french song of her new french album because they consider it properly, just as the same time the new english album is playing, nobody can prevent them from doing so😉Also, there are radio stations in France that only play french music, its not like all the radios are going to stop everything to play her new english single: both things are compatible.

So I'm not asking for the imposible honey. And I'm not even saying, blaming or demanding Celine to go and promote a fourth single in french television right now. I'm just asking WHY on Earth Sony Music is again so stupid to cut off the promotion of a successful album and not send another promo single to radios in France, so the success continues. No Celine personal promotion, no new videoclips, just sending more singles to radio instead of letting this great album die at the third single, like they always invariably do.

Sorry, but continuing the promotion of Sans Atrendre makes BIG sense, especially if you consider that she's touring there in 3 months. Cutting off the promotion and not taking advantage of the success and the amazing songs the album still has to offer is what does not make sense 😉

Since i don't understand french, the lyric never do much for me but i still love sans attendre and i love most of the song except the duets. And my boyfriend loves Attendre, he even use that song for his ringtone.

So gay.

They should release Ne Me Quitte Pas as the fith single around Halloween. Perfect.

I'm so disappointed. The beginning of the promotion of SA was good and now? If they really do postpone the new English album they should have released a new French single in July or at least now! if they don't want to promote LMBTL yet they should benefit from this album and still promote it, especially if they are organising totally SA-ish concerts in Paris. it's such a waste!

The only reason to release a 4th single from SA would be the success of the 3rd single... We were lucky enough to get a 3rd single after ''Le Miracle'' flopped in France.

We're even more lucky that we had the actual videoclip that went with that 3rd single. :)

Yes. The should have released the rumoured La mere et l'enfant in July and used the concert as a video clip  SA still had life in it...

It's funny that after she recorded Coulda Woulda Shoulda her whole career has become a Coulda Woulda Shoulda :dots:

SA is an album about love and loss, but it's also about family bonds, hence these 2 songs were included.

Nah would not. Even though she sounds too damn nasal on the ocean song, it's still warm and suits the album. LM could have been done in a more creative way.

I have to admitt that at the show, mostly at the end while everyone was leaving, it was dark and everything they had it on repeat, like just the chorus. Then, I did find it a bit creepy...
