Fotunately the news articles in Belgium are sounding rather positive towards Ms. Dion... Somewhat in disbelieve...

 

If it becomes news in other countries I hope that they handle the same approach...

It won't do her any service to get the ball rolling just right now, Bralo. It won't have any significant impact on her American leg of the tour. The tour in Europe is over and forgotten and the show goes on in America. Nothing can stop it either.

 

I seriously don't know what you all expect. Her focus shifted from Europe to America now and what ppl do now in Europe and write about her won't be relevant when she come back here again.

However, Céline Dion has been caught performing on several playback moments during the shows. On Youtube severe discussions have been fought about this issue. A Youtube user posted 2 video's which had 2 similar performances of the same number. However recorded in several years of time both are identical to each other.

On Celinedion.nl were some videos posted from "I drove all night" where the first part sounded weak and even with an unsteady voice. However right in the middle of the song a remarkable recovery was made and the second part sounded extremely well. For some it is the prove that her microphone was turned off and her vocals were replaced with a voice recording on tape.

 

Céline Dion and her team are letting the discussions go and are not replying to the accusations.

With Celine it is different - she does not write her own songs, she is not involved in the production of the music and so on, she is not a big dancer...

All her artistry is about SINGING - it is about the voice.

 

It is the same as if you would go to a classical piano concert and the piano player would just pretend to play.

 

And this "oh-my-god-did-that-fantastic-note-just-come-out-of-my-mouth"-singer opens and closes shows with playback tracks and gets standing ovations for that - THIS HAS TO BLOW UP.... and obviously it does.

They actually mean they can't believe Céline is using playback... They know that Madonna & co is using it but they can't understand why Céline uses it and thus they can't believe it.

and just to clear the air - i have NOT contacted any tabloids to spread the news.

 

I have just asked a friend of mine who workes there if they heared about it and he said that they have and that they are checking the story.

 

But doing this might be a good idea - maybe it works as some sort of therapy for me after that horrible concert where my favourite singer of all times delivered the poorest performance I have ever seen by just moving her mouth to old tapes.

No I am just kidding - I am mean sometimes but not that mean.

 

My therapy will be Tina Turner next February - I hope she gives me back the believe in the big divas of our times (whereas Celine has kicked herself out of the league big time with this concert tour)...

Don´t think so - back in 99 people had no real proof.

It was easy to shut this drummer guy up with some cash and give the public the feeling that he was just up there for the money + one press release where she obivously lied and it was over.

 

These days you have youtube plus they were even stupid enough to use these old prerecorded tapes for the "live"-dvds... if this starts it is hard to stop. People can take time, check it out themselves, experts will do analysis (as stated in the belgium article) and so on....

i think she should reconsider her setlist for something more fresh and more updated, she cant go on singing the same old songs TPOL, IACBTM, TLYM & MHWGO....her team should think about putting them in something more compact, whicg doesnt eat 2 halfs of the show, like a special medley whatever....

the only thing i couldn't understand is the "fans" who are still in denial of the very obvious fact that celine does lipsynching, like anybody else in the business, but not as often as she does.

 

if the media needs a proof that celine still have "that voice" they they believe she once had, they can call her anytime to give them a private performance (i know this is stupid, it won't happen LOL). not to prove herself again, but to make them feel like CRAP and STUPID.

 

however, i don't get it why her playbacking issue is growing really fast, while mariah's infamous "voice deterioration" is still yet to be unfold up to this point. mariah is still regarded as 'THE VOICE", but the fact that she completely lost it over a decade ago remains to be unseen by many.

 

almost everybody knows celine is one hell of a vocalist, and i still can't think of ANYONE who can outsing her live singing-wise. her addiction of lipping some parts of her song, i have to admit, is getting a little out of hand and is annoying, but give the media all her dvd sessions from TC, maybe then they will realize how gifted celine really is.

No I didn't say she should not do more vocally challinging songs, look at Alone, The Show Must Go On, Je Sais Pas etc... she does it sooo well! She should cut the "automatic pilot' songs like TPOL, MHWGO, IACBTMN, TLYM etc and sing new songs, which makes it fresh and fun for her and her band again!

 

 

I don't mid Celine cutting TPOL, MHWGO, IACBTMN, BYLM, those songs are wear off right now, as many of you already said she should sing some of the other songs, she has GREAT songs, she should start using them and leave the old in the past, OR she could do a medley something like the Acoustic Medley (LTAL tour) but with those old songs and not a 10min medley with lipped songs (IACBTMN, BYLM & TLYM). Don;t you think it'll be great hearing an acoustic medley with TPOL, IACBTMN, BYLM & TLYM!!!??

An acoustic medley of her signature songs sounds like a good idea. In the first place, Celine shouldn't have agreed to do the tour the way it's been. She said that after Vegas, she'd love to do something light and unplugged in very small venues.
