Well, I knew this day was coming, I just didn't know when. I think it's just dissapointing how she has to lip a good chunk of her concerts. Plus, it's the songs that "everyone wants to hear", apparently. Why is she lipping stale and dry tracks, that nobody wants to hear? Oh, yeah, the "casual" fan wants to hear them. Well, her "casual" fans should go buy Taking Chances and not throw a fit because their precious BYLM wasn't there or something. It's a real slap in the face to her fans, who are paying top dollar to see a *live* show, that she's lipping the same tracks she lipped in Vegas to for 5 years, and even worse with TPOL, the same track that's been used for 14 years! Is Celine's team *that* stupid that they think "Oh, nobody will notice that it's a 12 year old track!"? I honestly would hate it if there was a scandal around her, but if that's what it takes for her to get her act together, remix her greatest hits and sing 'em live or take them out, and cut down on her lipping, then maybe some scandal would do her good.

I agree, some bad things come for good... and this scandal has to be very soon, before Celine diggs her own hole.

the only thing that i wish for is not about any body else but celine i hope that she dosnt take it hard on herself and keeps her confedence , no body understands how can a person loose something not all his or her voice i mean completly but some parts that he used to do and by time things change ,i abselutly understand that feeling bec i'v been throught it and u'l never believe it until ur in it ,so please just leave her alone she is big star and we dont have to make a big deal of it its a fact that she lips some song but at least she still sings live and try to understand that its not that she cant sing them at all but she wants to keep her good image and not crack live like alot of other artists ,so we as fans we dont have to talk about it with the media we have to be on celines side no matter what they do and talk about it like oh she sings this song live in this one playback justl like that in a normal way please try to understand what i want to say ,(I love u celine no matter what live or playback u gave us so mush and still giving so keep going and do what ever u want)

funny how wise and genius are the audiences now. i can't see anything wrong in playbacking, as it prevented the artists from overusing their voice during the tour. but in celine's case, even the non-fan can easilly notice it. she's been using the chorus part of TPOL since Al'Olympia. but in this article, i really don't know what will happen next. if celine's team will give an official statement regarding this issue, possibilities are, people will turn their backs on celine and think they've been cheated by her for a very long time, or much worse is that everybody will doubt she can sing her songs live. i watched Christina Aguilera's Back to Basics Tour yesterday in YouTube, and i must confess, she earned my admiration for not using playbacks as often as celine does. (i do think all her performances were performed live)

 

this is sad. but who knows? she's celine dion, who was never been criticized for "voice deterioration" like MC and Whitney.

 

 

Yeah, Christina's a great singer but she hasn't exactly been singing for 28 years has she?? Remember Celine has been pushing her voice for many years now, and if, to be able to do a world tour, she has to use playback for a SMALL PART of a 2 hour show then i personally don't mind. If it was the majority of the show then yeah i'd be angry about it. But its not.

Strange though, from the way everything sounded on the 16th May, when I saw her in Antwerp, nothing was lipped. With the sound as it was then, it was vertually impossible.

I know she does lipsync, but I can honestly say, I don't think she did it on any of her concerts when I saw here.

With reports of her having vocal problems, I do understand she would revert to some lipping. It's a tricky siuation, you know. It really just depends on why she's doing it.

 

Well me neither, I couldn't tell that she was lipping some songs in the concert I attended to.. It sounded very real to me and I didn't doubt one second that it wasn't. But who knows.. Luckily the media here didn't attack her either for playbacking! (At least for so long.)

I hope the media all over the world forgets this issue now and leaves her alone..

Great idea ... She could stop singing and put a robot on stage, so it would have more time for family and fans who want to only see it, and do not care to see her singing "live" would have it as they like.

Celine sings her heart out all the time and even though I've never saw her live, in an interview or something she said that she loves to sing live. If she is lipping then there is a damn good reason for it and the media just needs to back off. They are just trying to find flaws that are or aren't there. They use any ammunition that they can get their grubby hands on and now their trying to make Celine look bad. If she wants to say something or not that is her decision and hers alone! I personally don't believe that she does it but if she does, her voice needs to rest because of everything she belts out so perfectly!

Not again! Some people here are obsessed or what? Those videos have been there for weeks, who cares? I'll tell you if people want to read bad comments about Céline, they just have to come here on a frequent basis....and they don't even have to register to read all that is written you know.

If people think they are going to tell Céline how to do her job, they're wrong. She does what she wants the best she can and gives her all. If people aren't please with that, I would think at the stage of her career, she's just going to stay home. As much as I love Céline, when I come here, sometimes I just wish she wouldn't try so hard to please people who are never satisfied anyway. When I read comments like mgreyck, I can't imagine that would be a fan's comment. They either haven't seen one of her shows or they are just here to provoque which is very childish imo. I know now why it took me so long to become a member here.... I'm gone!!

I personally don't believe that she does it...

 

There are three reasons why anyone would deny Celine lipping:

• They live in a fantasy world

• They are deaf

• They are blind

To be honest, I'd probably associate the lipsynch question to Céline's actual voice caring technique, I mean: everyone of us noticed how much her voice changed, evolved and how it's been structured by herself.

Back in the early 90s, talking about high notes, she didn't give a s**t about the fear of not reaching the note, because she knew she could, and she always did that by EXTREMELY pushing her vocals cords;

Now, everyone may agree with me that these are BREATHE-TAKING performances, because it was the Céline Dion everyone used to listen in a CD, the one that didn't have afraid of daring.

The point is: do you really think that the actual Céline HAS afraid of singing in this way? Do her actual diafram technique prevents her from not reaching a very awful note? I honestly think that she still can sing, I'm not sure if in that specifical way she used to do in those videos, but If I look at something like "Fade Away Live In Pretoria", I really think that she STILL CAN.

In conclusion, I really think that the lipsynch during live concerts has always been introduced, above all in these last year, by her...because she fears of loosing her complete power that she has still got, and in my opinion, she wants to carry on with it in the future, for letting us still dreaming.

to zoe en darren...well yeah I know that a lot of stars do it..... but the problem is, that the press'll never be as harsh on Madonna, Britney, Mariah etc then they would be on Céline! She always had to fight and proove what she is capable of! Plus, she is always called one of the best live performers

It's rather strange that the fact of using playback has become news in Belgium... Belgium is one of the very few countries in the world who actually extremely loves Céline Dion, including the media theirself... When you look at the articles during the past decades nearly every single article had a positive note in it towards Ms. Dion... The past TC tour performances proved it also. The Belgian performances were sold out (OK, 98% loadfactor of the hall isn't actually complete sold out but you know what I mean ), the Belgian performances did cost rather much compared to other performances, the same performances reached nr. 1 on the Billboard list and the media was extremely positive about the shows... Also recordsales aren't to bad for this tiny little country...

 

Fortunately the article wasn't published in Belgian's biggest newspaper (which brings also more gossip), instead it was published in a rather decent newspaper in the region of Antwerp where the Sportpaleis is located. However, such articles are mostly very soon picked up by other websites or media...

 

I'm sure it won't hurt her career here in Belgium since we realy adore Céline in our tiny country but like said, it all depends if the other media picks the story up and if there will be an official statement made by the management or SonyBMG.
