Or you could do a two disc greatest hits collection with tons of great stuff.......and some new tracks/duets......like Whitney Houston did back about 6 or 7 years ago with her greatest hits collection. It could have a really nice thick booklet about how successful celine is and how this is celebrating her hits up to an including this record breaking tour!

I really don't think a 16 track "Greatest Hits" cd is gonna cut it unless they are going for a Collectors Series type that will have little exposure and just be put out there for people to buy.

 

They really need to do a 2 disc GH set that will have room for new songs, otherwise it's a waste since they already have Collectors Series One and Decade Of Song.

I am kinda ambivalent to 2disc GH's. Well it's nice to have as many songs as possible but it is also quite frustrating, having some of my favourites on disc one and others on disc two, forcing me to change discs... besides, it often come off as "too much". I am sure I would listen to ONCP more often if it was concentrated on one disc.

 

However, if there are certain "themes" for the discs that's a total different story. Perfect examples of very good 2 disc sets are Whitney Houston's Greatest Hits from 2000 and Rod Stewart's The Story So Far - The Very Best Of, where both had themed discs, one being the party tracks, and one being the ballads.

As for Whitney's Greatest Hits album...it was a good concept, but to me it failed. The second disc was full of remixes instead of the versions heard on the radio that made it as the bigger hits. A prime example of this is the version of "I Want To Dance With Somebody." The version on the album is a remix and not the 'normal" version. This is where I feel the album failed. It was over-thought.

I think it's very important IF there is a Greatest Hits album coming, that it's distinctly different from "All the way" her first greatest hits kinda record.

 

Songs absent from All the Way will need to present such as:

 

Mislead, nothing broken but my heart, where does my heart beat now, tell him, The Prayer, A new day has come, i'm alive, etc etc

 

plus a couple of new tracks!

Yeah I kinda agree that it (Whitney GH) failed sales wise but at least it was something different and as a Whitney fan I really enjoyed it. The remixes were great and I think they did that because the remixes got played on radio and not the album cuts. I have all the albums and a lot of the cd singles, so it was nice to have something different from a fans perspective. I don't think the general public who wanted the radio versions enjoyed it as much. Can't please everyone though.

 

Celine is NOT known for dance music at all, so they wouldn't do that with her.

I totally agree! A great song that not many people have heard of (except for the fans who bought the ...New Day Live CD).

 

Also, as I'm reading through the many lists, I am wondering why people are including songs that are already on Celine's other greatest hits albums (MHWGO, IACBTMN, TPOL, TLYM). Actually, some of these songs have been on many of Celine's compilation CD's.

 

Sony, if you are reading this, please consider using many of the songs (from all early albums to rare unreleased singles such as: Send Me A Lover, All Because Of You, etc) that haven't been over-played. Songs that have never been on any greatest hits or compilation CD. I think this would be intriguing to both extreme fans, as well as those who like her but aren't obsessed like some of us . I hope you really do take what we think into consideration because by being a Celine fan, we actually know what Celine fans like!

Isn't that the idea behind a best of? that the non-fans would see the tracklinst and go "oh sheesh all the songs I recognise, but on ONE CD!!"... if they see MHWGO, IACBTMN next to Would I know and Send me a lover, would they be interested? They need to lake this more of an impulse purchase fur the unaware buyer. Keep it short in one CD, include the hits this side of "all the way", the new tracks, and be done with it. if you wanna spice it up, the ones already in "all the way" could be reprised as live versions, such as MHWGO from world childrens day, IACBTMN from Live in memphis, ABM from Jay Leno or TCH world tour... and so on. Just a thought, since everybody is getting creative.

For me, not only would I want the English greatest hits, but also some of the French greatest hits. Sort of like combining All The Way and On ne change pas, plus a few new tracks to please both of her fanbases.

No that's a Greatest Hits. A Best Of can contain tracks which never were singles but still had high quality. A Best Of is the chance to show off "this was never released as singles but these were on her albums and these wer very good oo (if not better than the ones released as singles). A Best Of leads a much wider choice of tracks than a Greatest Hits which only would include the hit singles.

 

Besides I do kind of agree with all of you about the sadness in releasing a GH/BO so soon, officially killing the TC album. But let's face it they didn't seem to have the ambition to make TC a hit album anyway.

I think that's the most realistic for a true New Greatest Hits CD. It doesn't recycle anything from the last one. It's basically just her singles over the past decade.

We should all respect eachothers choices and all, but people please rethink when you post God Bless America. I mean it's a nice song and all and she delivers it wonderfully, but think. America doesn't really have the best image out there in the world. And since Céline said numerous times that she don't want to get involved in politics a title such as God Bless America would surely drag her in into debate. And I am not so sure many would want to pick that album up when seing a title like that on it. Not even the amrican's themself with their prejeduce relationship with Canada, having a Canadian singing a tribute to their nation.

America doesn't really have the best image out there in the world.
