Hi Guys

I have not got alot of info. and cannot answer any questions on this topic, at the moment.....
But I have been asked to find out what fans on this board, would like to be on a Greatest Hits album.

Please have a really good think, before posting the 16 tracks, that you would like to see on this album!!

This topic is more of a poll than a discussion, so please, only post the the 16 tracks of your choice as you reply.

I think people are missing the concept of "Greatest Hits." Why are people putting live versions of songs and songs that were never released as singles? They didn't say "put together 16 songs you want on a cd," it's GREATEST HITS. Meaning the songs people know and were played on the radio and did well on the radio. The songs Celine is known for. And it's not FRENCH, it's ENGLISH.

How can we be taken seriously when we're coming up with such ridiculous lists! This has to be realistic.

I think the reason they are asking us is coz there actually hasn't been many hits since 1999, so they want to actually know which songs we like best and which songs are concidered "hit" in the fan underworld.

Therefor I say yes to songs such as I Surrender and Reveal to be on there, but to have songs like Would I Know and Let Your Heart decide (no matter how much some want them on cd) really don't fit there...

Funny no one mentioned Calling You or Us.

And yes, I think one or two live tracks work fine on a greatest hits, for example BYLM and MHWGO which so many are so damn tired of but still needs to be there so why not add a slightly different version, nad the easiest way to do that is a live version. But if it gets too many live tracks the cd gets pretty messy, and a GH is already really messy.

well, first of all...is it an English or French one or can the tracks be of both languages? Because we had ATW- A Decade Of Song which featured basically all her hits (apart from Think Twice and the later recorded I drove All Night and I'm Alive) and then there was On Ne Change Pas not too long ago (well, everything is relative) with the French hits. So that makes this kinda tricky.

I think Calypso's suggestion about a second disc with b-sides and rare songs is a GREAT idea; maybe not so attractive for people that buy a Céline album sporadically and on an impulse, but us "die hard" fans would love it (and there is quite many of us, you know ). The idea of yet another Greatest Hits feels off to me, to be honest. However I can definitely see "The Show Must Go On" (possibly live recording) on a future album though; Greatest Hits or not.

I understand that we should be selecting the greatest hits that celine has had in the past, but i also feel to get people interested in the newer stuff there should be rare tracks on the album to persuade them to buy maybe the Taking Chances album, where as they might not have been so interested if not hearing the songs on the Greatest hits cd. :shrug:

We had Think Twice on ATW, at least the northen European countries, if not all Europe, and you're from Sweden so yours should be including TT as well.

As for the French or English GH, we just had a French GH, so count that out yes.

About which tracks should be concidered hits and not, look at the French greatest hits, songs like Et Je Taime Encore and Contre Nature were on, and even though their great songs they were never hits, not to mention Le Loup, La Biche Et Le Chevalier (une Chanson Douce) - what was up with that?! :shrug:

But to get back on topic, I would appreciate if Darren would be kind to answer our questions about guidelines for the tracklist. :thumbsup2:

I hope that the Greatest-Hits will include some Rare/Unreleaseds songs, 'cause that what will make the fans TRULY exciting... Maybe on a special version of it with a Bonuses.

While I'm making the list I do not wanted to put "All The Way" tracks much in it, because for that people can but ATW. ^_^

I would love for them to release an album of unreleased songs in French and English.

I don't want another greatest hits album, so I'm not going to post 16 songs that are available on her other albums.

Sorry to be the downer, but I highly doubt sony is actually asking for our opinion. Apparently they're supposed to be doing a re-release of Taking Chances. There is no way they're going to release that and a greatest hits album in the fall. Besides, remember when we were being asked what should be the second single by "sony"..never happened. I don't think they'll release another hits album this soon anyway because honestly, there hasn't been enough since ATW. It would basically be the same thing. :shrug:

If they stupidly decide to make another Greatest Hits with the same songs on the last ones, then the least they could do is make it a two disc like other people suggested above. The second disc containing rare songs, ones which have never made it on to any album.

Eh, but I don't think they would do that because they would be losing money if they made a taking chances album that could essentially be two different albums (greatest hits and tch re-release). But even still, I don't think they're even reading this.

Thats the music business for ya. She's not the only artist they do this for. As for number 12, I still believe thats her decision. Even if she had a contract with them, she could break it pretty easily with all the $$$ she has. They don't own her soul haha.

This thread reminds me of a 'best of' compilation Mini Disc I made up during summer 99. I was surprised and amused when ATW came out with the same sequence of hits bar MHWGO which I put later on the 16 track disc. I think I had FIY in its place. Hopefully I'll find the time to make my own list, but I want to do it properly. I'll make a new playlist on my MP3 player and fiddle with it until its perfect. :laugh:
