BTW it seems like Usher will debut with 425-450k next week so mariah still has the biggest debut of 2008 in Usa.

Things changed for everyone such a cool artist as Usher who latest album debuted with more than 1 million and sold 9 millions just in Usa now will selle just the half! .

One more thing talking about Mary j Blige and the promotion thing that sometimes doents work, giving credits to my theory( if someone doesnt want to buy a CD He will not buy it no matter it is xmas or easter or mother's day)

Mary appeared on Oprah promoting her new single but the album didnt gain any position but fell!

 

Wasn't your theory about Christmas sales having no impact rather than promotion sometimes having no impact?

 

My theory was if someone doesnt want to buy a cd they dont care it is xmas, so a cd sells during that period only if someone already wants to buy it no because it is xmas. Same for the promotion thing,Take a look at mary j blige her appearance on Oprah didnt work at all! no matter she sang her new single! Janet jackson last week promotion didnt work neither and she has already 4 singles out!

 

Once again Celine sells because she is celine! ONCE AGAIN her last 2 albums were released in march and she sold so so much!please dont find the xmas excuse to justify mariah's poor sales(mary j blige last album was released in xmas but we all know the results no matter her previous album was successfull!) ..come on!

Madonna is not selling so much in Usa but in the rest of the world YES! and it's not Xmas! come on!

Vinny that doesn't make sense. Of course if someone doesn't like a certain artist will never buy his album but Christmas increase sales a lot. About your examples with Mary J. Blige maybe she would have sold even less than this if it wasn't for Christmas. Same with Celine. After 5 years without an english album you can't expect her to sell the same numbers.It's a fact that the album sales in general are increasing at Christmas time. So it really does matter.

The rest of the world, where? the total sales we know from last week are 1.319.000 world wide menus 887 from Usa = 432k. So 432k in the rest of the world is selling so much? from 432 you must subtract around 200k from Europe, so Total rest of the world without USA and Europe is around 232k

Maybe you meant she is selling decently in Usa?
