mariah is my 2nd favorite artist after celine dion. but we can't deny the big changes in her voice. if you want to criticize her vocal performances, don't judge her studio albums. she sounds almost perfect in her studio recorded songs. watch her latest dvd, and see mariah's worst vocals ever.

Exactly what good is she if she cant sing live, Celine sounds great live.... the studio could make Larry king have a good voice.. Mariah is washed up trash that used to have a great voice...but not anymore...sorry but thats how i stand.

Mariah can't sing well live anymore, but at least she bothers to. Celine could sound great live if she tried harder now, and I'm sure anyone would agree that it's stupid for her to lip synch all the time now. Whether on TV shows or even on her current tour, she has been lipsynching so often. And I'm sure Celine fanatics would say that she's singing live on her tours and so on, but I would say that's delusion because it's pretty obvious that Celine has been lipsyching to quite a few of her songs on tour. I think it's quite ridiculous hearing the same song from different dates sounding exactly the same. Celine needs to know that people all over the world are paying good money to watch her live, and in my opinion, it's not right to lipsynch.

 

And I think it's ridiculous how Mariah haters keep on thrashing her on this thread by comparing her to Celine. This thread is about giving your opinion on Mariah's album, not your opinion on the album as compared to Taking Chances or your opinion on Mariah as compared to Celine. If you want to do that, start your own thread.

She had her biggest opening week with this album... her 18 #1 single,broke the Elvis record, the record for the most downloads of a song for 1 week on iTunes beating Rihanna's Umbrella. That's not exactly what I call a FLOP

Well, I'm tired of repeating that USA and Asia are not the whole world and I don't understand why you can't accept the fact that her album is a FLOP in the rest of the world.

 

well... not quite. If you talk about Europe it may be a flop there but the rest of the world (Africa,Australia,Asia,South America, North America) she is doing well. Her album peaked at #2 in Australia, Touch My Body was #1 in the official Brazil chart, I won't repeat about her success in America and Aisa, the album was even #1 in Canada. That's not a flop. Think whatevere you want. The only continent I can accept the album being called a flop is Europe... but the rest of the world no. It may not be a huge hit in some places but it's def not a flop.

Yes it sold in 4 weeks 1.217.000 World Wide (that's the right figure the second figure is with+7% added by the owner of the website). The FLOP thing was born cause mariah's fans and others called TCH a flop after few weeks already. I'm sue Mariah will sell more than Celine she will have more singles more videos etc etc. Celine and Sony already left this album selling by itself(as u can see a second single after 6 months )BUT Taking Chances sold World Wide in 4 weeks 1.239.000 as u can see a little more than Mariah So my question is: Was tch a flop after 4 weeks?if yes... mariah is a flop as well it is so easy to understand

Plus if someone doesnt want to buy an album they dont care if it is xmas or not like they dont care if it is mother's day etc etc .(like mary j blige which came out in in December and she sold something like 1.5 million in Usa till now xmas sales didnt help her that much despite of a great debut bigger that mariah's one) Dont try to justify in any way than Mariah is not selling that good after 4 weeks(then who knows) as fans expected..it doesnt work

Taking comments from a few Mariah fans and taking them as the view of every single Mariah fan puts the joke back on you. Thanks for all the chart positions anyway.

Exactly. Also, Taking Chances sold over 450,000 in Canada (Am I right VinnyT ?) and E=MC2 sold only 32,000

I didn't say TC sold so much all because of Christmas... I said Christmas helped TC and nobody can make me think that this is not true. And why I need to deny that Celine is a great singer and makes great music and what not ? WTF? If I didn't like her I wouldn't be here.

I have nothing against you posting the chart positions and etc. but I won't agree that Mariah fans care cause they don't. I have seen it with my eyes. For exemple let's say I make a thread for an amazing performance during TC Tour just to show cause Celine still sounds very good (unlike Mariah) and all the comments are '' pleeease, who cares, zzzzzzz, boring Celine'' or something of that nature so they don't really care about her.

And I think another difference between their albums is that Celine didn't have a strong first single... and her whole situation with singles this time is messed up whereas Mariah had a hit. That's also matters. But I never said TC is a flop and I can't see why we are continuing that discusion about TC.

About Mariah's voice... She really lost it. what else can I say about it...
