Just to let you guys know, RDMH was absolutely live! It had to be because the audio, music and everything completely went out with about 45 seconds of the song to go. It went out and Celine had stopped...she didn't continue to "lip" as you guys say she did. If she was "lipping" she would have continued beyond the song and it would have been completely obvious! Yes, the majority of it was lipped, but there were live songs as well.

 

 

I really can't believe majority of you can even sit there and call yourself a fan with how negatively your talking about this show. I was there tonight as well and let me tell you.. i could careless if she lip sang or sang live. All i cared about was that celine was performing her #ss off PERIOD. You act as if she is some new singer trying to prove a point. SHe has been doing this since she was 12 years old... she has NOTHING to prove anymore. It is obvious she can sing. We've watched her record the songs, we've watched her do rehersals... what more do you need from this woman? Her job is to entertain.. and if you ask me..she OVER DELIVERS in entertainment every single time she performs. Towards the end of the tonight.. after being on stage for 3 hours.. she was STILL making sure the AUDIENCE was doing well.. cracking jokes left and right... working her #ss off to make it a great show. So she lipped majority of the songs. As if she's never sang those songs live in her entire life? COME ON!...

 

If everyone is entitled to complain about tonight.. then i am entitled to complain about you all complaining. I actually feel horrible to think that her people may read these posts. It just seriously baffles my mind. She is a human being. She is an entertainer. If she came on stage and just sat there and didnt talk to anyone and liped the songs and walked off stage.. then ok.. i get it. She was hilarious tonight and just seeing her in person is enough for me.

 

Whatever... these rude posts are just so baffling and seriously so ridiculous. I can't even believe a celine dion fan place would begin to compare her to britney spears too of all people.. WOW. I can't even say anything more..

And people, naive it is to think of you this is for her saving up for the tour, naive. Do you know how much work there is for her entire tour? If she has to lip a little tv special to save for an entire tour, that tour isn't gonna be more than one concert.

She won't be left feeling "bad" cuzz she obviously doesn't care as much as she did before. She's (unfortunately) never been 100% a live artist like Whitney Houston but I account that for her tight promoting and singing schedule cuzz if she could she would easily sing everything live. The tour itself as I suspect won't be any less live than the LTAL one was but that should be her standard by now if we want it or not.

Singing is her JOB! It's a fact.

Celine has an obligation to sing live! It's a fact!

Celine is a professional singer, not a show hoster. It's a fact!

 

But that doesn't mean she can't lip her songs!

 

If she is sick, ok she can lip her songs.

If the show requires, ok she can lip her songs.

If the some technological problems occur, ok she can lip her songs.

 

However, she HAS BEEN LIPPING her songs lately too often. So what if she lips half of her concert in your country and you just happen to be in that very crowd? What do you say about that? You think it's impossible? Well, she has been doing so much fake singing recently, which I think is something that is never gonna happen, but now it did is happening.

 

Is it so rude? Is it so offensive to ask her to sing? Is it so demanding to ask her to do her job?

 

She can do the talk, it's fine, and very funny as well. But lets not lose the point, she's a SINGER, not a talk show hoster!

 

Singers sing. It's their job.

Not everyone is like you who can be simply satisfied just to see her. The majority of people come to see her sing live, performe live. And now you want to blame those people for demanding a live performance? You talk like she's a show host and singing is her b-side carrer, and we should feel blessed if she can just once in a very while sing one or two songs live.

 

It's not a matter about proving herself or not, it a matter of her attitude to her carrer.

Is it positive that she thinks she has achieved so much before so she could just lip all the way? And it anyone tries to question her they could just all go to hell because they did not do the research about the awards she got in the past or not buying her early albums.

 

I'm getting very very disappointed about Celine recently, about her tv shows.

So I'm not a Celine fan? I'm not qualified enough to be her fan because I can't accept her lipping her song? The thing to remember is that this was a TV taping, not an advertised actual Celine concert.

 

If she lipped all the songs, bid deal - some of that may not have been her choice, it may have been a decision wanted by CBS or by Sony. The logistics of setting up and recording a quality sounding show from a soundstage in Los Angeles may have been more than the record company wanted to go through just to get a performance for a TV show.

 

Being there as long as she was with all of you shows that this was no ordinary performance and if anyone has ever been to a TV taping of ANY kind, you will know that it is very different, not nearly as smooth of a performance as you see as the end result when the final product airs.

 

Personally, I would have just felt lucky to have been able to attend the show!

That's great! I can't believe that Sony really heard us when we said that this song need a "Timbaland's remix". Of course it's not Timbaland, but they got what we meant.

Anyhoo, this excuse of "she's saving herself for a world tour" ir really unacceptable. I mean, when she's recording on studio she surely spends more than 3 hours singing, so, the fact that she'd had to repeat songs isn't really an excuse, and besides, being such a long lasting successfull performer she should have more stamina... For God's sake, look at Placido Domingo who's over his 60's and is still performing in opera stages, and believe me, preparation of an opera performance involves a lot more of rehearsing than Celine probably ever had in her life preparing for her tours...

 

In my opinion, we're in front of a lazy attitude of someone who doesn't care anymore for art as she used to in the past, but who just isn't willing (for any reason) to retire and take a quiet life like she did back in 1999.

I've been a fan of Celine's since Une Colombe came out way back in the day. I was 16. That was 19 years ago. I followed her ascent to the highest heights. I stuck by her when a lot of people lost interest in her, because of her voice. Since ANDHC, I was excited about her exploring different types of music, but always disappointed that the best, most interesting tracks were never released. Through it all, my one big criticism (besides being on the worst label ever) was her lack of control of her image. She always left it up to others.

 

Well my friends, I have to say that I have reached a point where I am officially over her. The release of this CD has proven to me that 1) her record company doesn't give a s**t about her or her fans 2) that she is surrounded by people (husband included) who are completely out of touch with what's going on in today's music biz 3) and most importantly, that Celine herself does not enjoy doing this anymore (or put another way: "I HAVE NOTHING TO PROVE"). Let's face it, the thing that made Celine was her voice and hearing her sing live was a blessed opportunity. With that gone, what's the point? I was so upset at not to being able to get tickets to her upcoming show because of all the freakin' scalpers buying them, but now I am like, who wants to see a show filled with songs from 10-15 years ago and 90% of them, likely to be lypped.

 

Sorry guys, Celine and her team have never been musical innovators but now, they have become musical dinosaurs. As much as I can't stand Mimi (Tal, this one's for you) at least she moved on and went full throttle with it. Celine is stuck on rear...SHE and her record company are too worried about alienating her old fans so we get this mixed bag of tricks that goes nowhere, in my humble opinion.

 

There have been so many decisions that have pissed me off over the years and I have used this forum to vent (viva technology!) Well, no one cares and I am just wasting my time. It is hard to let go of an idol that you have identified with so strongly in the past, who helped you through some of your darkest days, but I truly believe that in her mind, Celine has moved on. She keeps doing it because she is addicted to the stage and the attention she gets on it (it is all she has ever known). Her record company keeps doing it because they still make money of her, but invest less and less into her promotion. For me though, it does not work anymore and it is time to turn over a new leaf. Adios.

 

PS One last rant, did I miss something or are they absolute idiots? If a remix of EOM was in the works, why not wait to realease it in the UK? Could they not have released Alone, first?

Answer me the question? Did she retire of the TAST special? Or the ATW special? Or perhaps the D'eux special? Or perhaps the Dion Chante Plamondon special from 1991? Die she?

The first part of the above is true but neither you nor we can do anything about it. It's her choice. And she didn't retire in 1999 and she certainly DIDN'T lead a quiet life then. Not one bit. The press was all over her and when her son was born he was all over the press and she couldn't wait to come back to buisness to sing (remember the Vegas idea was from 2000 already!). That is Céline Dion.

Oke people I'm also very bummed she didn't sing live... but on the other hand.... Her tv specials have always been mostly lipped! Incognito, TCOML, ATW.... it's the way sony wants it!

 

we're not just on about this show, most of her european promo tour was lipped this november, she even went into the studio to record 'the best' so she could lip that on the french tv station. I dont know what the problem is but she just doesn't like singing live or shes nervous or something. even in vegas, like 4/5 songs are lipped, she just cant hit the notes any more, and i dont blame her for this, she just needs to do songs that she can hit properly

I think our girl needed to take a longer rest before all this campaign... sony should have released TAST, FiY Special Edition, The AND DVD, LiM DVD and put some effort in D'elles (such a great album)....

Then She could have rest for 6 to 8 months and for September / Octuber then she could have been ready enough to start a the TC campaing... In the most of her last presentations she has looked tired and insecure, except for DWS and AMA.

I would rather only see her perform once a year and do it live than every other week lipping the same crappy version over and over again on every single appearance. It's like she's not even trying anymore! If she really "has nothing to prove" then sit home and watch RC play Wii, and stop giving us halfa**ed lipped performances. It is absolutely ABSURD to stand on a stage and move your lips to YOUR OWN FREAKING RECORDED VOICE. She's hailed as one of the greatest singers ever to grace a stage, and all she's doing lately is shaming that reputation. She should be completely ashamed of herself. It's a travesty that she is pulling this crap time and time again. It's becoming a joke. She makes 80 MILLION FREAKING DOLLARS A YEAR TO SING 3 SONGS LIVE. If she's going to put out an album, I'd rather her not even promote it than do these ridiculous specials where she doesn't even sing the songs. If you can't sing them live, then don't bother promoting! Thank god her voice is so magnificent in the studio because I couldn't handle this crap if I didn't at least have a good recording. If you're going to lip every FREAKING song, at least RE-RECORD a vocal, and not use the same CRAPPY PLAYBACK tracks you've been using the last 5 years! AT LEAST MAKE IT SOMEWHAT CONVINCING THAT YOU'RE NOT A TOTAL SHAM.

 

It is appauling to lip to a cd recorded version. And after the criticism she got for the "An Audience With..." special, she still doesn't take a hint and sing these freaking songs live. What is happening to Celine??????????????? I'm so irritated I can't even see straight right now! She's one step away from hiring a freaking Celine impersonator to get on stage and lip her songs for her! And I'm absolutely sick of these people here who constantly make excuses for her! "oh she's sick, blah blah blah; oh she's got a grueling schedule, blah blah blah; oh she's rehearsing new songs for her tour, blah blah blah; oh she's got nothing left to prove, blah blah blah; oh she never sings specials live, blah blah blah. I am so SICK of the excuses. THERE AREN'T ANY MORE EXCUSES. There is NO REASON she shouldn't sing live! She is killing her reputation! And before all the fans who think any criticism of Celine is a blasphemy start getting on my case, or defending Celine YET AGAIN, I'm not going to say I'm jumping ship; she's given us an amazing career, and I would be foolish to say I'm going to abandon her. I'm so upset BECAUSE I LOVE HER SO MUCH AND I LOVE HER VOICE. I can't even describe how let down I feel when I look so forward to hearing her incredible voice live, and all that comes out is the freaking album version, or the same fraud lipped version I've been hearing for 5 years in Vegas. I feel like it's a slap in the face for her to get on stage and try to pull a completely fake performance over on me. What is the point of making an appearance and not singing the song? Why instead don't they get an audience together and just play her music videos. At least there's a story there and not her standing on stage making an idiot of herself by miming her own freaking voice. Time and time again I'm getting my hopes up to hear an amazing performance and lately time and time again I am crushed.

Yes people have the right to express their opinions... but I think some comments are totally unappropriated.

I don't know the reason for so many lipped songs ... but it was only a tv special I really cannot criticize her for that.

But please don't say she is a new singer -- i mean, spears, carey, etc etc etc I don't think she deserves that. I mean, I'm saying that they are horrible - nope - but look at their image today --- it's not about lipping....

I think Céline is an amazing person and an inspiration for people --- of course she's a human being and human being makes mistakes too!!!! But I don't think she deserves all those really really bad bad comments.
