Celinenvegas Posted March 27, 2008 at 09:01 PM Posted March 27, 2008 at 09:01 PM (edited) There you can see what a little promotion can do: USA: #67(+41) Japan: 199 (076) Taking Chances-Celine Dion (988) [120,325] # 6 , 20 wks how many copies sold in US? Wow I just saw that on Billboard today - that's great news! Was that due to the re-airing of the Oprah show from November?? Also on Billboard it shows the triangle meaning the album has been certified Platinum selling at least 1 million copies. On the issue of total sales and Sony, many times the record labels count sales of music clubs which the RIAA doesn't always include. It's a very gray area when it comes to the TRUE amount of albums sold by an artist. The RIAA would only show the last certification submitted by the record label as well, so if she's sold 1.9 million copies the RIAA will show it as Platinum (ONE million) leaving thoseother 900,000 copies sold out of the total. Keep in mind that record labels don't always submit EVERY album for gold & platinum certifications as soon as they achieve that mark, so an artist could have an album eligible for certification but it won't be included in the total by the RIAA. This is all based on US sales, I have no idea how other countries handle this. Confused yet??? Edited March 27, 2008 at 09:07 PM by Celinenvegas Quote ~J O E Y~
Shaun Posted March 27, 2008 at 11:49 PM Posted March 27, 2008 at 11:49 PM Well that's a healthy jump back up the US charts. I just do not know what it will take for Sony USA to service a 2nd single to radio. What are they waiting for? Don't they want to sell more CD's? Send anything to radio. Anything is better than nothing. Quote Bringing you the world's only Celine Dion podcast show since 2014.Find us on Soundcloud, Apple Podcasts, Spotify & Amazon Music.
Black Kitten Posted March 27, 2008 at 11:56 PM Posted March 27, 2008 at 11:56 PM now we can see that the album has an incredible staying power that even if the album has no huge hits, it can climb up the charts just with proper promotion. can't believe the massive jump. i thought the album will be out of the top 100 forever, but im glad i was wrong. sony wake up! rbysjti Posted March 28, 2008 at 05:28 AM Posted March 28, 2008 at 05:28 AM Without the world tour, the album wouldn't sell better. Quote

Prince Whiskers Posted March 28, 2008 at 07:29 AM Posted March 28, 2008 at 07:29 AM (edited) UGH, how LONG will it take for Sony to realize that promotion ACTUALLY makes the album sell? A rerun made it climb 41 places-----just imagine what the album can do if a bit more effort is made. The second single.....where is it? Surely, Celine can squeeze in ONE DAY to make a music video this coming April since there's quite a gap bet. the Chinese and UK concerts? She's set to appear on "Idol GIves Back" which I think will be good place to debut her new single. I hope they don't waste that opportunity. What she needs as a second single is something that screams ATTENTION. FA for its rhythm/TT for its daring theme/IGNL for the Ne-Yo link. CelineHayatiAna Posted April 3, 2008 at 05:10 AM Posted April 3, 2008 at 05:10 AM Yahoo.com: But that's only half the story of Carey's dream week. She also becomes only the third artist--and the first woman--to top the 50 million mark in album sales, as measured by Nielsen/SoundScan. As of this week, she has sold 50,004,000 albums since the scanning service set up shop in May 1991. She trails Garth Brooks, who has sold 67,774,000 albums since that date, and the Beatles, whose tally in this period stands at 56,110,000. Carey will not be the only 50-million selling woman for long. Celine Dion's career total stands at 49,951,000, which puts in her fourth place overall.[/b] Dion will top the 50 million mark in three or four weeks.
