"Taking Chances" ALBUM on the charts

Prince did that to increase his latest album sales, right?

 

Oh, I forgot the concert in China do give many free CD with ticket, maybe that's how Taking Chances was certified as platinum in China.

 

I don't know how it is over there, but free CD giveaways don't count towards sales here..

 

It is counted here as well. That is why Bryan Adams, Shakira and Beyonce have very high sales even though the latter two aren't popular here. All the three gave out cds with the concert tickets. Shakira is closing in on the gap as her "Hips Don't Lie" single, "Laundry Service" album are still selling consistently here. If nothing is done, she may replace Celine as the highest selling female international artist in a year.

Well, what do you expect when there is no promotion, no single, no TV spot, no nothing

 

Besides, these are the sales from the registered music stores. They count for less than 20% of the total stores all over the country. So I expect that the album sold more than 150-200 copies all over India this week

3.1M copies shipped only in 2007, while we now for certain that 2,700,000 copies sold to date with the countries that www.mediatraffic.de counts. (Only 10 countries I think...)

On the Shanghai press conference. The CEO of SONYBMG China present a Platinum Award for "Taking Chances" to Celine. Platinum in China is 100,000 copies.

Bellamy, is the same for domestic and international artists or is there a difference for the certifications?? Here, it is different for domestic artist as they have to sell more to get a Gold or a Platinum record while an international artists has to sell less for that.

No idea about that. There're very little info about certification in China. 50,000 copies is for Chinese singers, including Taiwan, Hongkong. I don't know about International singers.

same case here in the philippines. our local artist should sell 15,000 copies to be certified Gold, while international artists should sell 10,000 copies for a Gold certification. TC sold 12,000 copies here.

The album needs promotion but aint going to get it. The way shes handled is a joke but i dont know if its just her and rene are more focused on the tour and the huge earnings that it will make and realise that her days as a major force in terms of radio and records sales are over. I think she could still have a big selling album with the right songs video image and promo tho. Then again if it means making an awful song like mariahs touch my body to have a huge album id rather celine didnt bother, how on earth so many americans bought e=mc2 i dont know!haha. But celines music isnt what radios want regardless which taking chances song is pushed at them i suspect and i dont really mind she is selling well compared to some artists and her tour is a success shes still a superstar and most importantly i loved the album and her music and voice still touch me. go celine!

Actually its a huge station and it won't be small airplay BUT it's AC so it'll surely help

push the song high on the Billboard AC chart. Basically, it's an AC song tho and won't

break the Pop market here.

That goes to show how Sony promotes the greatest singer in the world. If they were smart they'd put a paper in every single jewel case mentioning celine's newest "taking chances" album.
