Prince Whiskers Posted May 8, 2008 at 09:12 AM Posted May 8, 2008 at 09:12 AM I'm not annoyed as TC was selling better than the other two. HC is gonna selling only less than 100k next week in US, same for MC'S album. Some MC fans made fun of TC album sales and now they are getting revenge from me hahaha...The second-week worldwide sales of TCH is HIGHER than the Week 2 global sales of E=MC2. I have a feeling that THAT will be the case again for Week3! Hard Candy Week 2 sales in the US is projected to be LESS than what TCH sold on its 2nd week! VinnyT. Posted May 8, 2008 at 09:16 AM Posted May 8, 2008 at 09:16 AM 1 million worldwide for Mariah Carey in just three weeks. That sounds good. But when you only remove her US sales, there just 260,000 left for the rest of the world Does it still sound good? same for Celine! Celine in just 3 weeks sold 1.054.000 world wide so if mariah's fans called Celine a FLOP Mariah should be a FLOP as well! and we all know celine reached those figures with no HIT single no heavy airplay around the world, no videoclip everywhere and Celine of course is not considered as cool as Mariah Quote For Exclusive News "Like Us" on Facebook http://i44.tinypic.com/vfjwad.jpg click on the banner

smw Posted May 10, 2008 at 07:30 AM Posted May 10, 2008 at 07:30 AM this album certainly isn't dead. the numbers will climb - as it's been said - once she is touring in the U.S. Along with the tour will probably come more TV spots - such as Leno, Letterman, Regis and Kelly. Which will also BOOST the sales. And the album will sell for years and years to come - because she's Celine. And it's not a bad album at all. Quote

Shaun Posted May 11, 2008 at 07:14 PM Posted May 11, 2008 at 07:14 PM Well in the UK this week you would expect "Taking Chances" to recieve the same sales boost it has in other countries when she has been touring there but sadly not and I cannot say I am at all surprised to be honest. No promotional activity and of course the total flop of the "Alone" single. So to confirm, neither the single "Alone" or the album "Taking Chances" made it into the UK charts this week. In a bit of good news however, the 9 year old album "All The Way..." continues to sell very well and moves up to #52 in this weeks UK Album Chart. isurrender Posted May 11, 2008 at 09:36 PM Posted May 11, 2008 at 09:36 PM So to confirm, neither the single "Alone" or the album "Taking Chances" made it into the UK charts this week. Well, she is not in the top75. And UK chart has 200 spots. Let's be realistic : the tour is other countries boosted sales but don't ask too much please : she can't gain at least 125 positions as she was out of the top200. Your expectations are really high... I don't understand, really. Ok, she was touring but the album was really successfull in the UK (compared to other coutries) as it sold about 330.000 copies. We can say that a lot of people who attended the show already have it... Quote
max24 Posted May 11, 2008 at 11:36 PM Posted May 11, 2008 at 11:36 PM Last week in the UK, two more albums were charting: #106 (new) - Let's Talk About Love / Falling Into You / A New Day Has Come #121 (re) - Taking Chances Quote
Shaun Posted May 11, 2008 at 11:46 PM Posted May 11, 2008 at 11:46 PM Thanks Max for the information and thanks Ronny for the correction, I typed the wrong number in. LOL I dont quite understand the relevance of "isurrender"'s post though. No one implied that the album hadn't been a success in the UK, it certainly has been. However I certainly dont see the relevance of "celebrating" the fact that Celine's latest album is off the charts (or at least the top end of the charts - who cares if she's something like #195 really?") and being outsold by albums from almost 10 years ago? Yes "Taking Chances" has been a modertate success in the UK but is now out of the charts after 6 months of general release. Should that just be acceptable now and Sony can start shouting "next album please" to Celine. There is a huuuuuuuuuuuuge potential for "Taking Chances" to be on the charts much longer than it has been but no-one (and that includes Celine & Rene) seems to be interested. The simple fact is that Sony have re-packaged All The Way... and are offering it at a budget price at the moment and hey presto people are buying it again in numbers because of that and because they know the great songs that are on it. The same cannot be said for "Taking Chances", already it has run its course because Sony are out of ideas. Look at the albums that were released on the same day (or before) as "Taking Chances." Many of them still in the higher reaches of the chart because the material is being played on radio and TV and the artists record companies know how to promote their artists. It is not rocket science. If people don't know the product, they will not buy it regardless of the brand name. You said that the tour in the UK didn't boost sales and I replied that it will be hard to go up more than 125 spots because it was out of the top200 to be in the top75. That's it. And as we can see the tour has done something for sales. She couldn't go up from 214 (from example) to 54 ! Everyone knows that Sony doesn't do anything. But that's another problem... Celine is doing everything without support from her record company and radio stations. Results are very good for that... (or at least the top end of the charts - who cares if she's something like #195 really?") I care. Big difference between being in the top200 and out of that chart. And if for you it doesn't matter, we can pay no attention to her position in the US, France... Edited May 12, 2008 at 06:28 AM by isurrender Quote
