yoyoma88 Posted July 14, 2026 at 01:07 AM Posted July 14, 2026 at 01:07 AM (edited) You know what is really annoying !!!! The collaboration with Sebastian Ingrosso (New Day) has clocked 45 million streams so far, and at least it gets 200K streams per day, and Celine spotify did not consider that to be part of collaboration, otherwise it will elevate the monthly listeners rank. I just I don't understand why ??? Do they fear it will taint her discography ? Most female artist who made a comeback like Madonna, Cher (in early 2000s), and Kylie got streams from dance playlist They did for Set My Heart on Fire but not this........ Squall Posted July 14, 2026 at 06:39 PM Posted July 14, 2026 at 06:39 PM I think these days how an album or single performs doesn't matter so much. What matters is whether or not concert tickets are selling. And I think Celine is fine in that area. But for her to have success with her new music, I think she needs to go back to what made her famous. Stop chasing trends. Don't try to be cool. Just do what she does best. I know Lara Fabian expressed interest in singing with her recently. If Rene were still alive, I think he'd want to take advantage of something like that. Get a duet with her on the next album. For her next English album, try to recapture what made Falling Into You and Let's Talk About Love so successful. Do a Tell Him style duet with Ariana Grande but with Celine acting as the seasoned artist passing the torch to the new generation. And just focus on songs that showcase Celine's voice. Most importantly, I want Celine to sing like Celine. I don't want Celine trying to sing like Sia or Adele. 5 1 Quote

As much as I’d love a duet with Lara Fabian, she stated multiple times that it never happened because of Celine’s entourage (I’m suspecting René didn’t want to make that happen but that’s just my guess). emiliejolie Posted July 15, 2026 at 09:59 AM Posted July 15, 2026 at 09:59 AM (edited) To me the truth is in between. Celine does not really like to sing with singers from her generation, i guess to avoid comparaison. But i do think that it's was useless to Celine or Rene to make pressure upon Sony regarding Lara contracts because Lara always arrived, let's say "too late". Though their voices are differents, Celine and Lara played in the same category. Lara arrived in Canada, Celine's career was of course well settled there. When Lara arrived in France with the fantastic PURE album .... It was a year after Celine had robbed everything with D'eux. Plus Lara TOUTt videoclip with the lights looked like PQTME videoclip with candles, same kind of minimalist cover, and other similaristies. And when Lara finally landed off USA it was, once again, a year after Celine.s titanic landslide. When Lara gaves interviews they also sound like Celine ones : the Eurovision, conquering France and then USA, her same idol Barbra Streisand, her duet with Mauranne, her love with her manager : she was like a broken disc of Celine. Then Lara took a new artistic direction after 2000, to get out of the Celine.s path. Even if Lara made a life goal to sing with Celine I dont' think it will ever happen since Celine is not interested. Plus i believe it's too late. This duet should have been reunited late 90's or beginning 2000's, when both were at the top, vocally speaking. Today Celine's voice is what it is and Lara sings with too many manners... I don't think both voices would match together today !! Edited July 15, 2026 at 10:12 AM by emiliejolie 2 1 Quote

I think she does it out of guilt -- she knows she's robbing people blind at the ticket booth. I don't know if it's age, medication side effects or just the long term effects of nodules, but her performance ability has fallen off a cliff. That is the product she sells and gets paid for and it's what her fans are paying her to do. The albums and reissues are just freebies at this point. Good for her for doing that, but that doesn't negate the endless grift that is her performing career. At least Celine knew when to stop and did something about it. My guess is Mariah can't afford to. LukeD Posted July 15, 2026 at 04:24 PM Posted July 15, 2026 at 04:24 PM (edited) I have immense respect for Lara's talent - a Top Tier vocalist and very good performer, maybe too theatrical at times, but still strong performing skills. My issue is that I do not see how Celine would benefit from a duet with her. I do not see a commercial incentive nor an artistic one. Lara has been regarded as a Celine Dion knock off by many, despite her original catalogue and amazing albums like 'Pure' and 'Nue'. And this is the result of some choices she made - for one, she has covered too many Celine songs, for example Pour Que Tu M'aimes Encore, S'il Suffisait D'aimer, L'amour Existe Encore, Le Blues Du Businessman, The Prayer, Calling You, Une Chance Qu'on S'a, and her versions usually pale in comparison. I know some of these songs are covers for Celine as well, but they have her trademark all over them. I just feel like Lara kept reaching and that was quite reductive artistically. Maybe she's trying to figure out what the right course of action is if, in fact, she wants to get back to the top of the charts? She's been gone for YEARS. Plenty of people think she's literally dead and are shocked to see her release anything at all. She hasn't really had to fight before to maintain dominance on the French charts. The reaction to these singles shows that she can't just walk back into our lives and expect to be right back at the top. She's going to have to work for it. She's going to do that on the stage. Opening night of this residency is going to be absolutely historic. The moment she steps out onto the stage will be historic. It's actually what she does right around then that matters, not what she did when they announced the shows or what she did two weeks ago. And she will do precisely what she wants to do and nothing more. She doesn't have something to sell. She's already sold it. The seats are filled. If she wants to put out a single that will actually return her to the top, she knows what to do and when to do it. That's all up to her. 1 Quote

We never saw a low-performing single in these platforms getting certified due to performing well on other platforms. Even in France, Spotify is the largest music streaming service. Some people think it is Deezer but that is not correct. It is just that Deezer performs well in France compared to other markets because it's a French company. Under the current SNEP rules a single needs 15m streams in France to be certified 1xGold. This means that 'Dansons' has a long way to go still, but it is more eligible than BPM. I am hoping for a spike in its streams when the residency and public appearances kick off in autumn. 1 Quote

Her last french album Je suis la, was a beautiful listen from start to end, I can't skip any song. When the greatest voices sing together on a song, it is a treat to the ears. Celine sang with Barbra, Ginette, Aretha (live). It was a pity her voice and Whitney's never joined on a song, I hope she gets to sing live at least with Lara, it could be magical, and when the 2 biggest French voices EVER join forces, it can be a song for the ages.
