Interview Hoda Kotb and Céline - NBC NEWS EXCLUSIVE

What I don’t get is how can she go back on stage when the onset of these episodes is so sudden? To quote Irene - “One moment she was giggling, and five seconds later, we were in a totally different stratosphere.”

And also, when Irene said something like “that was the hardest thing I had to witness in my life” and Celine goes, with all her sincerity, “I’m sorry that was hard for you.”

Girl…

She said she’s going to make sure she is ready and won’t come home crying to her kids that she had to stop the show. I believe she’s in a much better shape physically than she was when the documentary was shot and will continue to get better. So many of us dealing with autoimmune diseases can predict when things are about to flare up. That’s why she said on days when she knows she won’t be well, she now has a team who understands she has to cancel.

I believe she’s also in a much better place mentally, and letting the public know what’s been going on behind the scenes is a big part of that. Getting rid of the burden, resetting expectations.

This is me raw after the interview so not trying to stir anything up.

She is a fighter (which we already knew), wish she didn't have to be. For me I was relieved Valium was after Rene as I was so upset thinking he was knowing that and letting it happen. It appears the symptoms really got worse after he and Daniel died. I wonder if he had been alive would together they actually have stopped sooner or still been 'The Show Must Go On.' Not that is matters now, as we can't change the past.

Also really kind of pissed at her team for not somehow making her stop someone had to know taking that much Valium. Also in a way pissed at her for pushing so hard, please please know one thing Celine we will wait and do not want you to do die for us.

But also very proud of her for finally stopping and finding out what it was. I am keeping faith she knows her limits now and won't go back down that road again.

OK watched the interview, a tear jerker,

at the very end of the interview, she and Hoda were 'jokingly' talking about when Celine would be back, she asked a person from her team and he said they could not give an answer and that there might be one but they couldn't share it

I wonder if that was said jokingly or she is serious

clearly something is in the works. I think it’s the Olympics. If not the opening ceremony, the closing for sure.

Here is the link to interview. This is on my site it takes while to get it uploaded to Youtube. This is with commercials as I wanted to get it out there. It is not frozen at beginning I was just getting everything ready.

Thank you for the link! I’m so technology stupid that I couldn’t figure out the streaming live stuff. And I live in an area where we don’t get NBC on the TV really well. I greatly appreciate all your help this week!!

All I can say is Wow… I love Celine’s beautiful spirit! <3 Her positivity, her honesty, and her humor. I will be singing my heart out the next time she gives a show, if that happens! I can’t wait!!

It’s so good to finally be getting answers to so many things we’ve been wondering about for years.

Imagine how good it must have felt for her to finally get her answer. I guess that’s why so many SPS patients, Céline included, say getting the diagnosis was actually a relief.

So true knowing gives you back control. That not knowing has to be so hard. Still I wonder about going on stage with a live audience and feeling their emotions along with her own to be able to handle that will be a true test of everything.

You're a champ! Thanks for posting this.

I really hope Celine's also getting psych/mental health support. Not just to help handle this terrifying disease, but to help her navigate what seems to be an unhealthy/dysfunctional relation between her self and her career. It will be hard for her to be objective about it and sort out on her own, especially as that's the only world she's known. She would need someone from outside that bubble, a professional, to help her. If not to unlearn it and radically shift her identity, at least to lessen some of the needless stress she puts on herself. Kind of how Linda Rondstadt managed to walk a different path due to her disease without feeling like her world collapsed. Painful and hard, yes, but not broken. It would be unbearable if it makes her feel unresolved or lost in her mind on top of dealing with her mortality.

Can totally see how much heavier the docu will be compared to this.Whewww.

The thing about telling her kids to call 911, heck, I'd have someone shadow me 24/7, female assistants slash bodyguard slash EMT background. Suddenly made me google her sister Linda's age lol ok she's only 64yo hopefully in good health herself. Celine will need all the inner circle stability she can get.

Girl

And that's what I been saying to all who are thinking of another residency.

Like how would that be possible?!

Edit: from People

While there's no timeline for her professional return, Dion says, "We're talking about putting a show together, and I have so many ideas. I can't wait."

Haven't watched the interview yet, so I don't know if she still has these episodes or that now they have in control with medicine etc.

I thought I read somewhere that immune therapy was also part of this road. But I'm not sure, I'm lost in all the articles and interviews.

Edit: from People

Over the last two years, Dion has been following a combination treatment plan involving medication, immune therapy, vocal therapy and intense physical rehabilitation five days a week.

For anyone who watched, do they show a lot of footage from the documentary or is there enough left for us?

That was one thing I wondered since her sister basically living with her since before twins born where was she during all this? Did she not know what going on and try and make her stop?

Agree about talking to someone cause I still feel the high she gets from the crowd might make her push to hard. In a way she is an addict just to performing so we don't see it as bad like we do drugs. But when it makes you put yourself at risk it is no longer healthy. At least she seems like knows her limits now and I pray it is true.

Some scenes from doc but still will be plenty haven't seen. For me like putting movies to what her and Hoda talked about. Instead of just hearing about it we will see it first hand. It will be very hard to watch.

Wrt Valium, more than the sister who could be hands off Celine's work stuff, the doctor! Valium's a prescription drug, I believe. How can her doctor routinely scrip out refills without not noticing she's over-consuming to OD levels... right... smh Hope that doctor's not on her current team anymore.

Never thought of that. Was she getting it from multiple doctors and multiple pharmacies? Wonder if those types of questions will be answered in doc or in all other interviews.

I hope manager for the RW aspect of her career, not overall manager? The last thing she needs is a manager whose primary interest is making money off her (for AEG, for himself as manager, and, lastly, for Celine and her welfare, in that order). That's like having your dealer manage your drug sobriety program. I'm already side-eyeing how René, knowing full well all her health issues behind the scenes, yet still subjected her to such harrowing performance schedules for years.

Haven't seen Hoda's special yet, but finding out tidbits via the previews that it's worse than we thought, am I the only one upset and confused (and tbh slightly pissed off) about the she will return even if she has to crawl comment? If it's not hyperbolic fluff talk and is actually serious (and I'm leaning towards she's serious, in light of her admitted addiction to performing and fan adoration), you talk about breaking ribs, needing chairs to walk from pt a to pt b, superdosing Vallium, be in so much pain and had to endure so much to get through performances, and you say this.. baby, have you not learned the first time around?? How does this make sense... it's either something is not accurate, or it's all true and worse and everyone is on-board the insanity with her having the most to lose. Scratch that, her kids having the most to lose. If I were her doctor, I'd put a kibosh on that. Casual side projects, sure. Others that would be more taxing, no. It would be interesting if the docu includes her doctors' reflections, but I doubt they'd put that in.

I think her “I’ll crawl…” comment was meant to just point out how determined she is to return to the stage in SOME capacity. Not at all alluding to her returning in the form that we are used to.

Notice how he says "elle m'a accordé la seule entrevue en français au pays".

Can this mean there will also be a French interview in France?

If so, I hope it's with Nikos Aliagas again (even though he's left 50' Inside)

Girl

Here she talks about all the triggers. It's so unpredictable.

Too much work, no work, stress.

Somehow it feels more likely that she will do The Olympics.

It's a 1 time only, it's a secret so whatever happens she can cancel without disappointing, and without people knowing.

I just can't get my head around a whole new residency, even if it's just the weekends.

I'm wondering how she can manage to be on stage while explaining how unpredictable the disease is.

I'm also a bit uncomfortable with her return on stage while her manager is this AEG guy.

I'm wondering also which insurance will take the responsibility to insure her shows. I was reading an article few years ago about Stromae saying that after his cancellations for mental illness, no insurance company will take the risk to insure his shows.

Finally I'm wondering a lot about René. The guy she asked one thing to protect her so she could be able to sing all her life. What was his relation to this disease, symptoms ? Was it him approving those high doses of Valium to make her sing shows after shows ? Was it his response to make her sing all her life ? I'm being provocative. But no word from her about the manager and husband on that. Couldn't she be stopped and helped to find diagnosis way before ?
