It's not just the bedroom voice/vocal fry...she's introduced other small vocal habits here and there that take away from her voice. And there's the pronunciation too.

 

But I think the Love Again soundtrack will feature some of the vintage approach, so that's wonderful.

According to some sounds engineer that I know, reverb is out of fashion nowadays

 

Honestly though, since when? I've heard that argument before, and if I remember correctly I first heard it around 2007, but popular music since then have still mostly used reverb.

 

If you listen to The Weeknd or Taylor Swift, which are very popular artists today, they use it in all of their songs. In fact, I hear reverb everywhere in current music, so it can't be "out of fashion" when it's still used so frequently.

 

It seems to me that whoever is making music for Celine (sound engineers, producers, etc), should make what "sounds good" instead of following music trends.

Yes that is true. This is what the English audiences deal with. I was mostly thinking in terms of Celine's work and how she does deliver albums frequently but not of great quality always IMO.

I am fine with Celine changing her signing style here and there for fun - but the problem is the lack of albums she has recorded in the last 15 years. 3 English albums of new material and 3 French.
There is no lack of she is not in her prime anymore an album every 3 years is not bad.. adele is in her prime and releases every 5 to 6 years so

It’s so frustrating that the focus shifted to live shows but there are still so many shows which there is no released recordings of. Whatever about establishing Celine as more of a touring artist but at least release something from each tour. In years to come and she’s not around all we will have is YouTube footage from some of the shows. So annoying.

I think they are keeping it for when she is not able to anymore and then they can keep making money for some time with an album of unreleased tracks and video footage and concerts etc

It's all about promotion and hype just before the album releases.

Just finished listening to the 5 songs.

 

'Love again', 'I'll be' and 'Love of my life' are my favorites.

Love of my life is a simple but beautiful ballad. I was singing along by the end of it.

 

'Waiting on you' is definitely not the kind of song I like, it is extremely similar to 'How did you get here'. Which is one of my least favorite track on Courage... but if you like this style of song, it's a good one!

 

I really don't know what to say about 'The gift'. Celine's voice is not her best and the musical production is not the best as well. I thought I was listening to a Maroon 5 tune.

 

Regarding the other tracks, no new arrangements.

 

Here's a picture of the back of the booklet with a message from Celine. Isn't it the same thing she posted on social media and we got excited about because it was signed by her? Well, it turns out she must have written that message a while ago...

That definitely is the René influence, but man how we would love to have some new arrangements or vocals. :wub:

 

Too bad they didn't even care to re-arrange the old songs. I was so looking forward to IACBTMN in this new arrangement. It sounded so amazing! Minimal effort as usual... Sometimes I really feel disrespected as a fan.

I think that blurb first appeared in People some months ago, but yeah, I'm surprised that's all we got from her as part of the LA promo.

Not making a physical appearance is completely understandable. Not wanting to do a video, if she's not physically or mentally (or both) there and comfortable doing it, also makes sense. But I thought we'd at least get some more quotes from her - in the press or on social media. Turns out it has all been just Team Celine fluff through this entire press junket.

 

She must be really focused on her treatment and when she told Sony to decline all interview requests, she really meant it! Completely in her bubble. Maybe that's good. No distractions. We know she has the focus of a high-performance athlete; I just really hope she's making some kind of progress, not going 'round in circles trying different treatments with no light at the end of the tunnel. And I hope she got diagnosed early enough to at least somewhat stall disease progression...
