Well yes, she does have to be on social media and she knows that. But quality over quantity in my opinion.

Would I love it if she took up pottery and posted daily vases a la Seth Rogen? Absolutely!

Do I begrudge her not doing so? Not at all.

Sure, I miss her. But this was a great opportunity for her to take some time off and away from the spotlight, and I hope it did her good. And any social media content from her would be only as good as it is genuine. If it's not something she enjoys and is interested in doing, it's just going to ring hollow anyway. That's why I think the fashion parades worked so well for her; it was just genuinely something she loved and naturally leaned into. But can you imagine constantly having to be "on" like that? It must be exhausting, even for an extreme extrovert like her.

But yes, her paid-for social media team is pitiful and is, in my opinion, doing her more of a disservice with some of the inane content they post. The fan art is great. The rest of it.. not so much.

I will just echo you and some of the others who say that we respect her not being the type of person that’s into social media. I imagine as a celeb it would be even more exhausting than it is for the rest of us because of all the criticism targeted directly at them and what they do...

But I also want to echo the sentiment that if she’s going to be on social media at all, it needs to be quality content done right. If social media presence doesn’t affect her career or sales, then just leave it all together! Why have an exclusive fan group, only to post nothing exclusive? I mean, the only new thing we got -on her main page- for FIY was a 30 second lyric video made on PowerPoint and one or two rare pictures from the photo shoot. It’s an embarrassment. If you’re not going to do the album anniversary the justice it deserves, then why bother at all? A few mediocre posts aren’t going to impress her old fans or new fans.

So what about about when there’s neither?

Yep, with the FIY25 campaign I thought, now they get it. But they only posted two LIM videos and some tweets about the anniversary and a link to listen to the album.

Shame on you TC 😠.

Why don't they post the lyric videos they apparently made for those FIY songs on Youtube?! Why?

I agree about social media. Artists are just people. Some people/artists feel the need to post 8 times a day so everyone can see their every move and prove how wonderful they are and what an exciting life they're leading! Other people/artists post once ever three or four months - a simple photo. People are different. Celine obviously falls into the "once every three or four months" category. Nothing wrong with that. She and/or her team don't have to behave like other artist/teams. Everyone gets to be their own person and do things the way they like to do them.

Céline Dion the person is not the same as Céline Dion the brand.

Brands do not go "offline" for months or years at a time, and expect to not lose customers - they do not even risk it.

Back in the day, promotions cost money. The obvious advantage of social media is that it costs nothing. All you have to do is hire someone competent to create quality content. What's going on behind the scenes with Céline's management is a mystery to us all, but I don't see how anyone can objectively say that her team is doing a good job managing the social media when it's obvious that her fans are doing a better job at promoting her than her own team. (Again, I'm just talking about the quality of social media posts - not the paid advertisements with Spotify, Apple and Amazon). It's clear there is some effort being made to promote her streaming presence, even though we all know many of Céline's fans do often prefer physical formats.

Re: Music Videos

All of the footage they filmed in 2019-2020 could easily have been recycled for something more significant, but they aren't using the material they have wisely/efficiently.

A proper Lying Down video *could* have been made from the footage of them shooting the album cover photo, with the flames and night sky. Scenes from the MHWGO montage from the Courage Tour would have made a perfect video for any number of songs from the album.... or the behind the scenes footage from the photo shoots they shared (partially) this past year with The Hard Way. Even if they only had 1-2 minutes of footage from these shoots, all they'd have to do is film closeups of her singing along to the tracks and maybe add a few extras, lyrics, or other cinematic elements and VOILA! Clips from these videos could have been shared on social media, and used to further promote the album. It's not rocket science.

Agreed!

But someone has to be the one calling the shots, and Celine doesn't seem to think / worry about promoting her image very much.

So that's the issue.

Her team doesn't come up with / brainstorm big ideas because they are not told to do so from the top (Celine herself).

Which is why a manager is necessary for this kind of stuff.

For the music videos... I would LOVE more of them and they could easily be created by her team, but Courage and Imperfections have very low views on YouTube so I can understand why her team doesn't prioritize putting more out (unfortunately). Although... it does fall onto them, in part, for not doing a great job with promo.

I do think we're past the longest stretch of quiet from Celine and her team. As the world opens up again, so will Celine. :) She'll come out of her cocoon soon, refreshed and ready to wow us all.

I think Celine was very comfortable with Rene as her manager. Since his death, she seems to want to be the boss. Aldo is gone. She doesn't want to replace him. She wants to call the shots. She doesn't want anyone else telling her what/how/when to do something. Most artists, when they tour, do 30-50 shows. Celine does 100+ in some of the biggest stadiums in the world and sells them out. Until that changes, I wouldn't expect any change in her social media, marketing, promotion, what have you. If ain't broke, don't fix it. And Celine Dion, the brand and the person, definitely ain't broke.

The idea that people should only strive for better if they are losing money is very silly. The same people who diss/chastize those who say "Celine only cares about money these days" turn right back around and say "yeah she only cares about money, so what, deal with it"

Eh-hmmm, for those of you who are claiming on this forum that you are "against using social media" & "can see why Celine & her team are against it"... Do any of you nay-sayers realize that by using THIS VERY FORUM, that you all ARE using social media (in a way????) Yes indeed this forum (& as well as ANY other type of online forum too, & other online communities AKA Reddit, Quora, Yahoo Answers, Youtube comments, chat rooms & instant messengers, (which are outdated now but is still considered "the original social media" back in the day for my fellow 30+ year old fans who grew up in the 90s like me, but those were, & are today still considered "social media" as well!!!!)

Pretty much any ONLINE COMMUNITY in which multiple persons communicate with each other over the internet is considered social media... So yes this forum IS considered social media!

So for those of you who claim you "hate social media"... haha guess what you all ARE using social media by posting on the Celine Dion forum!

Chew on those facts as you want as you all enjoy your Easter/Spring holiday with your loved ones! Happy Easter/Happy Spring! (for those of you who do not celebrate Easter) 😊🌺🐰😘

Definition of Social Media courtesy of Google.com -

"Social media are interactive Web 2.0 Internet-based websites and applications. User-generated content—such as text posts or comments, various online communities, and digital photos or videos, and data generated through all online interactions—is the lifeblood of social media."

Again take it as you want... Happy Easter!

Aww thank you! 😊 Yea I came up with that username as I am indeed a teacher by profession (daycare teacher, I teach toddlers, which are 1 year olds & 2 year olds,) & I had thought of one of Celines song "Thats just the woman in me" & decided to make the username into a PUN using the name of the song LOL! 😆

Oh by the way 'Celinelife': Nice to meet you! Are you new to this forum? Sorry I have not seen you post before until now, so that is why I think you might ne a new member. If so, WELCOME TO THE FORUM! 😊

I am one of the "newer members" myself (as I have been on here only a year, I think my 'one-year forum anniversary' on this forum is coming up! Now I do not know if anything will happen then, if anything happens, guess I will find out soon lol!) & as you can probably see, I do not post on here regularly (I do not come on here every day or every week as I am busy with my work & my family, but this is a holiday weekend, so I have a little bit of free time @ the moment lol!) Welcome to the forum, again its great to see new faces around here! (Newer than mine anyway lol haha!) 😉

What could TC could have done or could do for Courage album as the album is still going on?
Posted (edited)

What could TC could have done or could do for Courage album as the album is still going on?

Yea I have ALOT of suggestions! & pretty much are mostly what many other people have mentioned:

1. Using social media to its advantage... & I am NOT SAYING EVERY DAY, OR EVEN EVERY WEEK! & I am NOT SAYING she has to "abandon her kids", which she can use social media IN HER OWN HOME! We all know Celine has lots of technology in her house, & all 3 of her sons use it! I mean her oldest son RC uses technology, posts on social media (& has been for years since he was about 13/14 years old,) & has even RECORDED HIS OWN MUSIC from home! & I am also sure that the twins also use technology @ home too! Because I do recall Celine saying in past interviews years ago that all 3 of the boys are home-schooled & attend classes over the internet (& have been waaay before this darn Pandemic started, which since then majority of kids all over the world & college students are taking classes online!) So we know her kids are not strangers to technology & Celine is not either! & even @ times if she doesnt feel like posting something, that is what her TEAM is paid for! But what exactly are they DOING (besides laying on their lazy butts doing nothing! Boy it must be nice to get paid TO DO NOTHING, where do I sign up? Lol)

2. & like what other have also mentioned, what about RELEASING PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED MATERIAL? I mean we all know her team is sitting on a gold mine of stuff, but after over a year, STILL NOTHING! & again nobody knows when or even IF concerts, touring, etc will be back (& definetely NOT this year,) so what are her team going to do, stay doing nothing, just like they did all last year? (& this year so far!)

& another possibility that I hope & pray will never come true, but it is something that we all should prepare for realistically: what if actual concerts NEVER come back? What if things do stay the way they are with virtual concerts, shows, etc like they have been since this Pandemic started last year? In your honest opinion, do you think that will be early retirement from music for Celine if shecan only do concerts online & not in front of audiences? Since supposedly Celine hates to do online performances or recordings... I have been fearing this because of the Pandemic, & it could be our reality... Even with the vaccines it could be our reality, because nobody knows the long term effects of the vaccines & if they will work years from now or not...

I'm gonna keep believing "her team" will release Lying Down as a single at the re-launch of the Courage tour, and re-promote.

Now of course I've been burned countless times with these kinds of beliefs, so I'm not going to put too much hope into it.

So, regarding suggestions: RELEASE LYING DOWN AS A SINGLE (+video) WHEN THE NEXT LEG OF THE TOUR BEGINS (yes I'm yelling this, VERY LOUDLY).

Ummm hello posting on social media has NOT always have to do with "selling tickets & merchandise", because if that was the case, then 90-95 percent of people would NOT be posting on social media unless they were selling products (& again most people who use social media ARE NOT selling products; most people use social media to SOCIALIZE & INTERACT with others - hence the name SOCIAL MEDIA!)

So according to you, ONLY people who are sellubg products/service should use social media, but people who are NOT selling anything should stop using social media... Ok so since I DO NOT SELL ANYTHING on social media (or sell anything @ all, I am a daycare teacher not a salesperson/retail person,) I guess I should DELETE all of my social media accounts since I do not have anything to sell... according to your logic...

See where Im getting @ now?

Sorry but your post makes no sense @ all...

That's not what was said at all... They simply said that selling concert tickets does not require activity on social media. If that's the case, then "social media should only be used by people not trying to sell a product" is the correct implication. Not "social media should only be used by people trying to sell a product" :wtf:

Your post is actually the one that makes no sense

Okay firstly, who said "every day"? We want some personal activity on that "mostly dead" account. Not promotions of albums and anniversaries and all weird career things.please show us her face, show her recent activities so that fans can connect.

"so that fans can connect" - that right there is one of the most damaging things that has happened to the entertainment industry since the rise of the internet. Fans now feel entitled to have a certain connection with their favorite stars. On Broadway, this has turned the "stage door" culture into a horribly toxic environment where insane, obsessed fans think that, because they're following Broadway actors and seeing posts from them, that those actors, in return, know who they are.

I get that some artists want to post on Instagram/Facebook/Twitter/TikTok all the time. Celine is clearly not one of them. I would not expect that to change at any point. She's clearly got someone who handles her social media accounts and, whoever that is, also isn't into posting much. Celine has always been very protective of her "image" - or Rene was - and people's lives get ruined because of one tweet in this new digital age. Cher has recently had to apologize for a tweet she made regarding George Floyd - after doubling down on what she said in the first place. It was starting to negatively impact her. I can understand why neither Celine, nor her team, post things other than her picking apples or her fashion.

Firstly, I don't care whether they want to be online everytime, that was not even the point of discussion I don't know who got this wring idea. Secondly if you are not online much, then with your few post just show that the singer is alive. The mew comers doesn't know that. All the legacies and listen this album on spotify something looks like the singer is dead or inactive and they are just promoting the legacies. Yeah all fans want rare photos, but we also wants new photos, don't blind us by saying that that photo is of this year when actually it is not.

The point is that the key to a "quality not quantity" is to have a good team, which is lacking. No more discussion.

And no I am not saying that you are saying something wrong, I respect your opinion too
