Chantemoi Posted March 24, 2021 at 02:54 PM Posted March 24, 2021 at 02:54 PM (edited) But you know what? If the numbers never go that high again, it’s really not a big deal. No one is going to die or even be injured in any way. It’s just a video. But... it is a big deal to many people. It’s comparable to them casually “deleting” 20 million sales from FIY. Does that diminish the actual number of people who consumed it, or the fortune it amassed? No, but it does change the public perception of the video’s popularity and cultural appeal. Should that matter? Yes and no... if you like the album, you like the album; but fans have every right to be outraged about this. To downplay this, like deleting those views means nothing, is like saying to your coworker “oh, it’s fine you carelessly burned that important presentation we all spent years working on. At least one got injured.” Before you have the chance to say “well fans didn’t make the video themselves” or “it’s not your career, it’s hers”, in case you haven’t noticed, many fans feel that when they support Céline’s music, that they are supporting its success. Rational or not, it is what they think. Even if you yourself don’t share that mindset, it does no good to belittle their opinions about whether or not it’s a big deal to them. And what shocked me the most is, that Celine and TC don't care about it. They posted a tweet about the IACBTMN video today (I posted it in the FIY topic). 1 Quote

Streaming is what moves the whole industry today. It impacts on budgets to do more music, new contracts, publicity, public interest, everything... Just like radio did back then! 2 Quote

I will never EVER understand this. It is a video. It had so many views. Now it doesn't. It means nothing. Absolutely nothing. You, or other fans, making up that it means something doesn't make it mean something. The video isn't destroyed. In fact, they made it better - they uploaded it in better quality. Watch that one 100 times a day if it upsets you so much. 1 Quote

But artists and companies barely make any money from streaming. I can see what Celine and her team don't care about it. $1,400 a ticket and selling out her concerts are what make the money. Streaming doesn't do a damn thing. She's a legacy artist. Whether or not she has streaming numbers, she will be able to sell out tours and Vegas shows. 1 Quote

It's about promotion and caring for your image, music and especially the fans! I was a teen in the 90s, so I grew up with MTV, VH1 etc. In the 80s and 90s you had to be on a video channel to sell and promote your music. These days it's all about streaming (YT, Spotify, etc.) And so your YT or Spotify account create an image in the public. That's why we're angry about TC and Sony, because they don't really promote Celine's image/music. Where are her older concerts and her music video for her signature song MHWGO on YT.In the end, it is important to have a video viewed at 40 m or 100m!!! PuraVida Posted March 24, 2021 at 07:31 PM Posted March 24, 2021 at 07:31 PM (edited) Her having all those views is 1) an accomplishment, and why should accomplishments be diminished? 2) it drives internet traffic to Celine content of all sorts. It's the 100M videos that pop up first and then they link to other videos and so on from there. there is business element to this 3) it is also about cache and reputation. Celine should be seen as one of the biggest artists, and erasing evidence of that is not good. Also, given the pay rates that Youtube creators get, Celine has probably made millions off of Youtube alone. And she has made millions off of streaming as well. It has been calculated on the streaming thread. Edited March 24, 2021 at 07:32 PM by PuraVida 5 Quote

It's not important when it comes to selling concert tickets. That's my point. That's Celine's focus and, apparently, her team's. I can understand being upset that Sony isn't really doing anything for Celine but what is Celine doing for Sony these days? She's more about concerts than albums. Why should Sony try to promote her music? MHWGO is another video with clips from a movie. I highly doubt Team Celine has the rights to use it - and why should they have to pay for it when they have 1,378,699,482,210,000 videos from her tours that they can use instead? 1 Quote

Crazy for Celine Posted April 1, 2021 at 08:46 AM Posted April 1, 2021 at 08:46 AM For this latest promotional round of Amazon playlists "Rediscover Celine"----why the heck doesn't it have the Courage album art or mention her new album? It should be "Rediscover's Celine's latest album Courage" Fix improperly titled Youtube videos on her official channel----yes some are literally with the incorrect songs, or there are typos/unnecessary language in the title. Actually respond to very popular Twitter/Instagram/Facebook posts by other celebrities or posts that go viral. Acknowledge the moments that you go viral. Celine had a moment posted with that fan singing her "I Surrender" in NYC and her reaction went viral and got like 20+ million views on the video alone, not to mention the likes of celebs like Ariana who posted it. Actually use the "live" feature on Instagram or Facebook to have Celine sing something and post it online. Or, go to a very safe, socially-distanced, everyone-tested location with just her band or just Scott and record some performances! Upload all of her official music videos to her channel. Ad upload clips of her live specials that they don't otherwise plan to release. Winter Garden, 1993 Tour Concert with ICHFIL, Live in Memphis, Au Coeur du Stade. Why don't we have any official tour videos from 1992-1993? Why isn't Sur Les Plaines on Youtube? Do album promo better. Go on ALL the big TV shows and late night shows. Go on newer media outlets and digital publications, do famous Youtube show promos like Elle Magazine Word Association or NPR Tiny Desk. LMBTL and Couage had very bad promo, even though LMBTL was complicated bc Rene was sick. Do big anniversary posts/promo better. We are still waiting with Falling Into You, but they could have uploaded Live a Memphis full or Celine could perform a live/unplugged version of some of the songs right now in 2021 and upload it. If you give us the behind-the-scenes of an album, let us actually hear the raw footage and recording process, rather than see the song dubbed over footage of Celine in the production side of the studio--want to hear her while she's at the actual recording equipment. No more Vegas residencies! Make it stopppp. No more of those very cheesy Instagram quizzes and polls.... shouldn't you be promoting Courage? Or on her Instagram they could post video of her doing ballet....I think that would get ton of likes. Work with Netflix!!! I am sure if Celine asked them, if they are not already asking for her collab, they would say yes. Listen to fans! Yes i can’t believe we barely have any official tour video from Celine Dion Tour, especially the 1993 leg the possibly official tour video that’s available around youtube are Montreal au rythmes des ameriques (where she performed lcmm, batb, nbbmh and lbdb), LCMM live in Quebec, Nov 1992, Plus haut que moi in montreal 1993 and WDMHBN live in halifax 1993 (those mentioned videos are professionally filmed), I’m 99% sure TC has the full concert but it’s locked in their vault of oldies there are only two bootlegs available on youtube (DYGEL and NBBMH live in Gatineau, Sept 1992) I’m dying to see performance of With This Tear from the tour 1 Quote

By that logic you could also argue that she released so many great albums, won so many awards and performed thousands of amazing shows around the world for several decades, so she could retire now and never sing again. Would you be okay with that? I wouldn’t. You can’t possibly deny the fact that she’s not doing the things that you would except an artist, especially one of her caliber, to do. Look at all these other superstar singers, many of whom have also released 20 songs sometime in the past two years yet still continue to be very active and do stuff for their fans because that’s what huge artists are expected and supposed to do. It’s their job after all. That’s also what Céline would have been doing had she still been under the management of Aldo or, even better, René. As long as she’s still considered an “active” artist and not a retired one, complaints are totally justified. Edited April 2, 2021 at 06:15 AM by Céline RO Quote The best is yet to come...
