New Las Vegas residency show!

Back in 2021, the show was being described as “clean”, by Céline and by others. Whatever that means. I’ll take it as something positive though.

 

Also, someone on here, one of the guys who seems to always have inside info that often proves to be true, said that “Us” was intended to be part of the setlist…

I think she used that same word to describe the Courage tour.

 

I think Adele’s show is a great style for Celine. Simple but still elegant with moments of great visuals and spectacle.

 

Adele really took Celine’s “Immortality” in the aisle moment and ran with it. I think she drew inspiration from both the more intimate moments from A New Day… and Celine’s second Vegas show.

 

My hope for Celine’s new Vegas show is elegance and well-placed, breathtaking visuals that support the music. I want it to feel like a classy formal affair rather than something trendy, sleek, or modern.

I think most of it will be what was already being rehearsed and perhaps remove any of the elements that could present physical challenges or dangers and swap that out for somthing better for her based on her condition.

 

I remember listening to that interview back when gave it. I get the impression of a modern feel with "less" on the stage as opposed to "Celine" with the full orchestra. She spoke of "panoramic" visuals, etc. I think it will be like that and as she said clean in terms of sophisticated.

I don’t think she did. The only label I remember ever put on that show was when someone in her team (Denis/Lapin/Dave/Scott, I don’t remember who) said that the stage would be “chic”. They might have also said something about the show being beautiful. Other than that, I think Céline said it wouldn’t be the Vegas show but something new.

What? Wow "Us" would be quite interesting to hear live especially nowadays

Hearing 'Us' live would be a dream come true. I could imagine it sounding even better with her 'current' voice, similar to The Reason. It's one of those songs that doesn't need pristine vocals and could benefit from a more "lived through" voice.

I’d like to hope that given the gap with when the residency should have started and when it will, that they will tweak the setlist, the visuals and the costumes as fashion and technology have moved on since then and they have had more time to revisit the setlist too. I just don’t want a tribute section in this show… we all want to hear her sing songs of hers that she hasn’t in years or songs of hers that she has never performed before right?

Besides, some of her best songs are either rarely or never performed: Halfway To Heaven, Nothing Broken But My Heart, With This Tear, Only One Road, Love Doesn't Ask Why, Just Walk Away, Call The Man, I Love You, Seduces Me, Us, Where Is The Love, Then You Look At Me - so much to choose from!

 

As an AC pop artist her discography is exemplary. What's been lacking is Celine's faith to it.

She really tried to gear things in a trendier direction with her more recent English albums. And I've always loved her classic sound.

 

As far as her concerts, I would love it to be the aboslute best songs from her own discography. She has so many gems that haven't gotten enough attention. But I also think a surprise cover is fun. I didn't love the covers she chose for the Courage tour.... but she's done some exciting ones in the past. And I know general audiences eat it up.

Ironically, the first residency she named “Celine” had the most covers to date of any tour/residency…

 

So let’s hope they change the name to something like: “Celine: The covers” and we would probably have mostly her catalogue

 

All joking aside, I don’t have problem with a small cover medley if done right… but when we have a show that seems like the bulk is her paying tribute and the small section is her hits, which has felt like before, then I think we got a problem.

 

 

I think to the first Celine residency in 2011, if that was the same show but the only covers where the James Bond medley and all the rest was her songs… it would’ve been spectacular.

Exactly, pay tribute to yourself Celine… honor all those moments, those song writers and producers and Rene who helped make her who she is today. I’m sorry it’s not like her catalogue lacks gems… she could easily fill a show with her material she just needs to have confidence in those songs… if they weren’t released as singles doesn’t mean people won’t eat it up. “I surrender” proved that point. It was never a text book “hit” but it’s easily one of her most celebrated and known songs…

One thing I've been wondering about if she does return to Vegas with a new residency.... is how they'll go about the playback. I feel like she knows more focus will be on her voice, since she talked about how her condition impacts her singing/vocal cords. So I feel like it's a bit risky to just use the same playback she always has because it might be too obvious.

 

Perhaps they'll record new playback, or even arrange her songs in a way that allows her to sing them more simply live every evening.

 

It's tricky because people do expect Celine Dion to belt during her shows.
