What has always been interesting to me is their use of the word "unforeseen" with respect to her medical issue/spasms. How far in advance of the opening date do they have to be for them to be "unforeseen"?

 

And how does that work with the contract. Because Resorts World wants their money, so they are going to be sure to get the legal fault correct with respect to her pulling out.

Yes, so I am wondering how it all shook out behind the scenes. No doubt both parties have their interests at play. Maybe it is as simple as "if Celine is deemed physically unable to perform for any reason, she cannot be held responsible."

I do feel Celine would be a better fit for Bellagio, or Caesars.

 

Well, Caesars is off the table since they now have a deal with Live Nation.

And yes, my instinct after seeing RW the first time around in Aug was, "Man, she really should just be at Bellagio", but I don't think that's feasible either. Is it tacky? Sure, but it's the focal point of the strip and appropriately grand for Celine, I just don't think they have a theatre other than the one custom built for Cirque, no?

 

In any case, they're still playing that RW ad (featuring Celine) at the airport on a loop, and I've seen lots of RW billboards around town, so they're still spending a pretty penny on advertising. I just think they took a gamble on these acts - Celine can't be cheap! - and I wonder if, even if she does do some shows with them, they'd even be in a financial position to renew or extend her deal. Things don't seem to be going so well for them thus far.

 

The whole thing must be super stressful for her - that Omnibus deal (I think that's what it was called; don't have the ICM complaint at hand) was big, and by the sounds of it she got a massive advance which she'd have to repay if the planned shows don't come to pass (that's across residencies and tours, I believe).

 

With the uncertainty around the RW deal, the Rob Prinz fiasco, her illness, the hoopla around Aline... Celine must be missing Rene on so many levels right now. I do hope she has the support she needs, both professionally and personally.

I just checked ticket sales for Carrie Underwood's opening night tomorrow. There are still loads of tickets left almost everywhere except front orchestra. Not sure how popular she is. But this may just a really bad time to start a residency.

 

I wonder how well Céline's tickets were selling...

She's a country artist with a huge range....her voice is pretty powerful. A lot of people love her in the states and she consistently sells out arenas. That said, being country versus pop (like Celine) may only draw in certain crowds, when combined with the time of year, that could explain the why there's still lots of tickets left.

 

Does anyone know if she was originally slated to start 12/1 or did they add some shows to make up for Celine canceling? If that's the case, that could be another reason.

She was originally going to start on 12/1, so they didn’t add anything.

 

That photo makes the stage looks larger then I thought it would be!! From the first photos I saw I thought it wouldn’t be as tall as it is! The wall doesn’t look as tall as it seemed. Granted the photo is from a different perspective, but I’m sure you can know what I am getting at.

I know it’s all depending on getting through the first set of CWT shows, but part of me is wondering when she plans to relaunch. It all hinges on Denver and the preceding dates, but seeing Carrie going on tonight just makes me really want to get back to Vegas to hopefully see her. I just hope when she is well and knows she can go on, we get some sort of update on when she plans to return. I want her to get better, absolutely, but I also yearn to return to Vegas to see it all again, but most importantly, to see her again.

I saw that! And it looked like the black walls on the side of the stage are screens?! It almost looks as if the band was standing in the walkways on the side of the stage? Man I wish we could’ve seen what Celine was thinking!

I don’t understand the people who say it looks “cold”, I prefer this venue over the colosseum, but it’s newer and better equipped so why wouldn’t it be better. I attended a show at Caesars in the final year and it hasn’t aged well in my opinion, versus the way it was in 2005 attending my first time.

I was surprised with the visuals of Carrie's show, at first I thought the stage was small but after seeing these images, it's amazing, it seems that the stage opens in the middle.

I'm curious to know what Celine has prepared, but not excited, she said the show will be clean, what does that mean??

That’s why I like Big Prod shows. Instead of this simple shows. Boring. Quite embarrassing for a superstar. It should be grand!

 

This is the gen z show. The era of extra creativity. This is the standard now for doing a show. It should be grand not just by having a great vocals. It should be more than that.
