I thought the wording of the announcement was interesting - intentionally specific to meet insurance and contract criteria for cancellation. "A diagnosed medical condition that prevents her from performing," and making it very clear that Love Again was filmed a few years ago and before her diagnosis. That clarification also designed to help stop anyone wondering "how can she be too ill to perform if she just shot a new movie?"

Not to be negative in any way, I do wish her all the best, but can you imagine the oposite: the statement saying: I have given up? No. She is not giving up on life and fight, but performing is probably out of the question for her in any future... Sad to say this, but its probably the truth. As someone stated before, she has (un)officially retired...

Another reason why it was wise for her not to do any promo for the movie or make any appearances - not even a video.

I have no faith whatsoever that they will pump out material nor will they release any of the previous decades worth of shows on DVD/Blu-Ray/Digital up to and including the entire Celine residency at CP, 3 summer tours (2016, 2017, 2018), Hyde Park, and the Courage World Tour. I really hope they prove me wrong. This is so heartbreaking. I have faith Celine herself is doing well but it's going to be a very silent year without her. Celine has retired. We just don't know it. She retired in 2019 really and we will hear nothing from her for a long time. And as time fades we will realise the greatest singer has bowed out. A sad day. Those thinking otherwise and deluding themselves. They'll be no updates. She is seriously ill. A year is too short to see recovery. Celine will never tour again. Those days have gone. We must cherish her and hope her pain is bearable.

You always assume the worst and have the audacity to state that those who disagree with you are deluded. Who do you think you are? What characteristics put you in a position to provide us with reality checks? Definitely not critical analysis skills, as I read that Celine actually retired in 2009. But her acting debut took part after 2009, no? So how come she retired in 2019? She also recorded a song for the movie, no? Hmm.

 

Second, how come you say there will be no updates? Celine and her team have always been professional, keeping us in the loop. We might not have the clearest picture of what is going on, but this is a very private and sensitive matter. SPS is so unpredictable so it only makes sense that they would abstain from affirmative statements so as to not lower or raise our expectations.

 

And a final thing. There is no sign of emotion in what you write. I do not even buy you are a Celine fan. To me, you are an Internet troll who found its way in the forum and purposively decided to upset fans with micro-aggressions. I felt the exact same way last week when you jumped in a discussion in relation to the content and commercial performance of her albums to say that nobody cares about Celine. Your posts emphasise destruction and then you throw one sentence to fake emotion.

 

You might be fooling others but I see you for who you are. Get help.

I’ve come to learn that many people on social media have no compassion whatsoever and it’s quite sad to see. They make instant judgment on things they don’t care to inform themselves about yet feel their point is justified.

(Many come from abroad to be treated by Dr Newsome or Dr Dalakas. Others, with MS in particular, go from UK or US to Mexico or Russia to have stem cell transplants because it’s cheaper (and insurance in US won’t cover as it’s not FDA approved, or people can’t get it on NHS in the UK) , and there are so few places who do the specific treatment required.)

My aunt has had this condition for a few years now and despite she and my uncle being lucky enough to have a lot of money, they have travelled to see specialists around the world, but sometimes even money is not enough unfortunately.

 

But let’s stay positive for Céline!

Most conditions eventually find incredible treatments, and sometimes even cures and she’s shined the light on this which can only be a good thing.

Interesting, too, that the chose to release this on Fri afternoon (Europe time), right before a long weekend. Presumably to minimize media circus. Known in the business as the “Friday PM news dump”.
