Allysadreams Posted December 8, 2022 at 11:18 AM Posted December 8, 2022 at 11:18 AM I was so sad watching that video, Celine is such a special lady and I have been a fan of hers since I was 14 years old Reading up on the disease just filled me with dread to be honest, hopefully it can at least be well managed and maybe she will make a miraculous recovery 1 Quote 'Love Doesn't Ask Why, it speaks from the heart.....'
stevo Posted December 8, 2022 at 11:19 AM Posted December 8, 2022 at 11:19 AM (edited) U.K. media are reporting her diagnosis while Hello magazine in the US just skiffs over ‘spasms’ and talks about cancellation of all shows and even CLAUDETTE! 😡🤬 Edited December 8, 2022 at 11:20 AM by stevo Quote
PuraVida Posted December 8, 2022 at 11:23 AM Posted December 8, 2022 at 11:23 AM This news is going to take a while to process... Our one-in-a-million Celine has been afflicted with a one-in-a-million disorder... If this signals the end of her performing career, it feels so unfair that this is a way to go out. I have a feeling we will see her again in front of a microphone, but it may be more of a farewell event. But I can't think that far ahead, and I doubt she is either. 3 Quote
Shaun Posted December 8, 2022 at 11:27 AM Posted December 8, 2022 at 11:27 AM Devastating. This is incredibly worrying and the more I read about her condition the more fearful I become. Celine knows this as well, you can see it in her eyes. Of course being hopeful and positive is absolutely the right thing to do but I am incredibly worried. I also agree that stress cannot be helping the situation. This tour needs to be cancelled to allow her to focus fully on her health. Whether we like it or not there will still be some fans and media who will go after her for the numerous postponements. Wishing her all the best. Let's hope we see her fighting fit back on a stage again, 6 Quote Bringing you the world's only Celine Dion podcast show since 2014.Find us on Soundcloud, Apple Podcasts, Spotify & Amazon Music.
Alex_Incognito Posted December 8, 2022 at 11:34 AM Posted December 8, 2022 at 11:34 AM (edited) This is horrible. What a horrible message to wake up to. The thought of Céline possibly never performing again pains my heart. The thought of her being a phsycially handicapped person pains me even more. This woman has given us so damn much. I wish there was something we could do - not a video - but something more thoughtful and less about fans. PuraVida Posted December 8, 2022 at 11:43 AM Posted December 8, 2022 at 11:43 AM ^^ I had an image of fans piled in an arena singing this to her. I wish we could all just pile into a venue and sing to her and for her. She has given so much. 2 Quote

LukeD Posted December 8, 2022 at 11:56 AM Posted December 8, 2022 at 11:56 AM I am reading SPS has features of an autoimmune disease. If that is the case, I think that emotional well-being and positive thinking are very important in dealing with the problem. Celine knows happiness is a state of mind, a choice, she is very courageous and appreciative of life. I therefore think she will be able to control the issue to a great extent. This is what my logic says. 2 Quote
joaofilho Posted December 8, 2022 at 11:59 AM Posted December 8, 2022 at 11:59 AM But it won't get better, this syndrome will take her to a wheelchair. What worries me and makes me sad is that she will stop singing. Quote

Celine knows happiness is a state of mind, a choice, she is very courageous and appreciative of life. I therefore think she will be able to control the issue to a great extent. This is what my logic says. It may be caused by an antibody attacking a neurotransmitter called GAD, which is necessary for producing GABA. Basically, her body is losing its ability to produce GABA, the primary inhibitory neurotransmitter, due to an autoimmune attack on its chemical precursor. Treatment options seem to include anticonvulsants (to suppress glutaminergic transmission, meaning less GABA is required to inhibit the nervous system), benzodiazapenes to stimulate the GABA receptor (likely Valium or Klonopin), and blood filtration to temporarily flush the antibody. Scientists have also speculated that the cause of the disorder may be related to T-cells, so our best hope is that she undergoes an experimental stem cell therapy that succeeds in finding a cure for the disease. 2 Quote

This is absolutely heartbreaking and gut-wrenching. Stiffness of the legs is actually an early sign of the disease, but it rarely leads to a diagnosis since the disease is so rare. So it seems that early reports of leg spasms were in fact the early stages of SPS, and since it wasn't treated, it has now spread to her entire body. It can help make drastic improvements in addition to whatever other treatment she gets. Quote

Popular Post remykyes Posted December 8, 2022 at 01:11 PM Popular Post Posted December 8, 2022 at 01:11 PM I barely made it through my shift at work this morning and barely made it to my car before I completely lost it. I think the last time I was this heartbroken with news from Celine’s camp was when René passed away. My mind and my heart are racing with so many thoughts and feelings. I honestly even find it hard to breathe sometimes. All I think I can muster at this point is that I am absolutely heartbroken by this news… I think all of us want it so badly for her to be getting better and that the tour will be kicking off in February. And I agree with so many of you that this can’t be the way her career ends… And I think it hurts even thinking that because for many of us she’s been a part of our lives since we were born. Cause it’s going to take some time for us to adjust to the shock, and to come to terms with what all of this means, but we need to come together as a community and most importantly, we need to show Celine that we’re there for her, no matter what happens . 9 Quote New Signature Coming Soon!
scielle Posted December 8, 2022 at 01:17 PM Posted December 8, 2022 at 01:17 PM Yeah, it’s definitely making the news & trending. Just heard on CBC Radio and there’s this, along with many stories like it.Javascript is not enabled OR refresh the page to viewClick here to view the Tweet So extremely sad we may never again see Céline we know and love. Even if she does go back to performing, I fear it’ll never be the same… Poor thing. I know it’s a different disease but I keep thinking of fellow Canadian Michael J Fox… It’s been so sad to see him deteriorate. ❤️ 1 Quote
PuraVida Posted December 8, 2022 at 01:17 PM Posted December 8, 2022 at 01:17 PM I wonder if she will relocate away from Vegas to be near the very, very top medical institutions. Then again, Vegas would allow her to be free pretty isolated and free from the stimuli that can trigger the disease. And maybe staying at her longtime home is best for the mind/body. Quote
Popular Post Squall Posted December 8, 2022 at 01:22 PM Popular Post Posted December 8, 2022 at 01:22 PM One positive that may come from this is the attention to this disease that Celine's name will bring to it and all of the additional funding and research that will be done now that such a famous person has gotten it. That will benefit anyone else who is also suffering from it. We need to come to terms that Celine will likely never tour again. I think it's likely we'll still see her perform but those instances will become fewer and fewer as time goes on. I hope Sony will show their support for her after all she has done for them over the years. Release an album(s) of unreleased material, release DVDs of tours, put together a tribute album of other artists singing her songs. Celine is one of the biggest names in music history and has been a constant work horse for Sony and has given them very little grief. She never got involved in controversies, never got into drugs, or feuds with people that Sony would have to step in and clean up. She's just been an incredibly nice person, a good person, and one of the best singers and performers in the history of the world. So I HOPE they show their gratitude to her now. 8 Quote
Alex_Incognito Posted December 8, 2022 at 01:29 PM Posted December 8, 2022 at 01:29 PM I can see why Celine wanted to keep this on the down low for so long. Now that it's out there that she is sick, it's out there. 3 Quote "People pay 20-25 dollars to see you."- Céline Dion, 1990
sarit_celine Posted December 8, 2022 at 01:34 PM Posted December 8, 2022 at 01:34 PM My heart breaks for Celine. Leo Posted December 8, 2022 at 01:36 PM Posted December 8, 2022 at 01:36 PM This is devastating. I can't believe this happens when she was becoming fitter. Don't you remember a pic during the lockdowns when she was in an empty gym?The worst thing is the fact that this is a rare disease and as such there is little knowledge about it and little effort is made in research and treatment because it affects very few people and it is not profitable or efficient. The positive side is that she has the means and influence to access doctors anywhere in the world. To be honest, I saw something serious like this coming because of the symptoms and the lack of information. Speaking out was the best move to prevent these so-called doctors and even her family to spread news and rumours which only confused us in the last few weeks. As it was mentioned in other posts, her team should cancel the concerts and if she should get better, then reschedule them all (or some) again. There is absolutely no need to push her. Being optimistic, if they are still keeping some concerts, it could be an indication that her doctors don't rule out any possibility of at least a temporary recovery. Courage! Quote
stevo Posted December 8, 2022 at 01:37 PM Posted December 8, 2022 at 01:37 PM There is a lot of love and shock and coverage about her condition, which is comforting Donatella Versace commented on the Instagram post saying ‘she was talent personified’ as well as many other famous folk which is nice. https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-63904242 1 Quote
