What songs do people think Celine could include in a more Courage-heavy setlist?

 

The album seems not as arena-friendly as her others.

 

I think most songs on the album could work well. The only ones that she should avoid (because they would sound underwhelming live) are “Imperfections”, “Lovers Never Die”, “Nobody’s Watching”, “Baby”, “Heart of Glass” and “Soul”. Generally, the songs which are melodically more impressive and less repetitive tend to work best (they’re also more timeless and would probably please most fans).

 

She really needs to sing “Lying Down” again. It’s one of the most popular songs on the album (and a single) and works well live.

Yes and I'm okay if she would lip that single phraise with the high note. I think any of the songs you listed above could work if they used the right arrangements. Even if remixed a little bit to add more umph, I think Lovers Never Die could be exciting. Nobody’s Watching could be great also with some awesome staging and choreography.

It's amazing how she can sing "The Prayer" and sound better than ever and then a clunker like "Lying Down." It's just not a very good song to being with. They want it to be something it's not. I don't feel she connects with it.

 

I just can't imagine that there aren't better songs being submitted for Celine. The album is such a snooze fest.

Agreed. I'm glad others here enjoy it, but to me, it's her worst album to date. Totally forgettable.

Just curious : what kind of album do you wish she would have put out?

 

My only *real* qualm about it is that I wish she would have released an EP/album in 2016 or 2017, and then a separate album in 2019. The problem with a 20+ track list is that it’s so long, very few songs stand out. If they’d released an album after Rene’s death, when the Celineaissance began, they really could have rode that wave of positive attention and support from the public instead of waiting for it to taper off. It’s such a shame to me that “Recovering” didn’t get it’s time in the spotlight. The second album, imo, could have come the day Vegas ended, but then that ticket gimmick wouldn’t have worked. Anyway, it is what it is.

I think she looked like she connected with it during James Corden. She looked really into it.

 

Problem is, tougher songs to sing, you get worried about hitting the notes rather than connecting with it I guess

I hope that ANDHC gets the same treatment like TTWII got and is getting. It wasn't sung a very long time, then in a short accustic way and now the full original song is performed. I could just imagine Rene being there telling her to stop talking! That is exactly the sort of thing he would have picked up on. I guess no one around her now is in quite the same position to be as honest/critical as he was.

Apparently for Celine it is. It doesn’t always make sense which songs are harder for her to sing...guess it has to do with vowel placement.

 

There are concerts where she struggles to hit high notes, but then when RDMH comes on she hits the high notes perfectly and with ease. In that song it’s just “yaaa yaaa yaaa” and other easier vowels I guess

Unfortunately not. Céline sang the color of my love only 6 times in 2017. I think it is emotionally difficult for her to sing it. although the song is great. I want to hear her at every concert, not ballet like in 2017

For sure. When René was alive she never had any verbal diarrhea on stage or anywhere else. She was this little quiet girl doing live here and there exploring her own repertoire and re orchestration of her old standards. What a time 🤗

But I felt when she first got the big laughs she went chasing the laugh and it just got out of control. Just my thought on that.

It is.... I get the "she could've sung 1-2 songs extra" argument, but with Céline, honestly, we wouldn't get that either way.

Aldo and Scott probably told Céline back in 2015 that she can ease up a bit and do more what she loves to do on stage (and have less speeches scripted & songs lip-synced). In the beginning it was fun & nice, but from 2017 onwards, it was a bit too much (and repetitive).

I think the problem is that most of us have to watch videos from every show. Gone are the days where we didn't know every little detail about the show and where things come as a surprise.
