And the amount of shows Céline have done compared to Mooriah. Studio albums, concert videos.. so, Mariah really needs to make up to her fans which she’s doing it now.

I think it’s great that Celine is having a break. She’s been a workhorse the last few years. It’s pointless comparing her to other artists. Yes Mariah and others have done loads during the pandemic and Celine has done nothing, but look at an artist like Adele who hasn’t done anything significant in the years before the pandemic.

 

I do think they should be releasing stuff during the break and maybe Celine does need to be the driving force behind that, but as for appearances and at home gigs... I’m cool with her not doing them. She’s given me enough to keep me entertained 😄

I don’t think shania is a fair comparison. Didn’t she disappear in 2004 and take about 7-8 years off? Celine has never done that. If shania had worked to the extent Celine did, she may have handled her output during the pandemic very differently

Most people don’t get to take an entire year or two off from their job - kids or no kids, even if their spouse/parent dies. We are lucky to get even a week off for something like that. Céline is very privileged to do so.

 

That said, no one is asking her to change her lifestyle and record daily IG stories (although that is easy enough) or anything too complicated that would take her focus away from her kids.

 

Of course she has every right to spend all day sleeping in and watching cartoons with her children... what surprises me is that, as someone who loves performing, she hasn’t had the itch to do *anything* for her fans. It shows how little she understands about the business aspect of her career. Even if she were inclined to do an at-home concert, I can’t imagine it taking more than a week of her time with rehearsals and the actual filming. But of course, she doesn’t think like that.

 

You would have to assume *someone* who works for her has asked if she wants to do anything special to keep fans entertained during the lockdown, and she has refused. Clearly she thinks we’re all content having our tickets on hold for 2 years with no consideration to to “hospitality”. Every other major artist is using this time to connect with their fans, and Céline wants nothing to do with them.

 

All I can say is that she better be bringing a totally overhauled show in 2022, or she’s going to permanently lose some longtime, devoted fans. (And she’ll just be left with fans who ONLY know her biggest hits, the ones she loves performing so much)

What I think is: after touring the world almost non-stop from 1995-1999, doing 200 shows a year in Vegas FOR FIVE YEARS, another nine year Vegas run with mini-tours on her time off, suffering several miscarriages, the death of her husband, taking care of him while he was sick - TWICE - and going on stage the night her mother died AND the night her father died - I think the VERY LITTLE her self-obsessed, entitled fans could do is let her have ONE YEAR. ONE YEAR to herself.

Sony is something completely different. In their case, Celine doesn't really make much money for them. She sells concert tickets which goes to her and her promoters, not albums which would go to Sony. But what does she do for them? Not much these days.

I want a new DVD of Céline so bad, but her only obligations towards audience is respect her audience and her contract. Nothing more, nothing less. I don't think she will loose even the die fans. Personally I don't care about the set list or whatever. The most important thing, is be for seeing her again and be together after all this.

Does it hurt that much that she doesn't? It might be that she doesn't really care for her fans. Or that some of her family members have been sick with Covid and she hasn't been discussing it. There could be any number of reasons why she's chosen to retreat into herself, to hibernate, as it were, during this global pandemic. Does it hurt you to just let her have that time for herself?

I don't think artists of Celine caliber needs to be present constantly, unless you are desperate or need that constant attention. She has been working almost nonstop from 2002, it is also a good thing to be missed sometimes. It also shows she is confident she won't be forgotten. And again, not being active on social media doesn't mean she is not working, I doubt she is home doing nothing.
