Courage World Tour - EU shows CANCELED

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

As I said before it’s all about insurance and her team are waiting for the venue and promoters to call the shots first and despite loads of other artists already having their shows rescheduled or postponed in the UK for April/May at the o2 for example Celine remains the only artist and the next artist to perform on the bill this year without any updates... so are they waiting on Celine’s team because of the costs involved this time round?

Either way it’s not fair on the fans, with the first French show scheduled for 32 days time, with no update... it is rather bloody rude and unprofessional of them whether it’s her team or the venue/promoter.

If she cancels the remainder of Courage world tour, I hope they release it as a Netflix special.... perhaps the concert intercut with documentary style footage.

It's been a long time since Through the Eyes of the World, and her last truly huge moment with a taped concert release was with A New Day... which was many years ago.

If she releases the Courage tour on a streaming platform, it could be great for business... like bring a ton of attention to the Courage album (and all of her music) again.

It could be a way to bring Celine Dion into the 2020s and get some big attention again.

With that said, I love how Celine is such a force when it comes to live performance. I wish the concert could continue as planned but these are such tricky times, and this could be a way for her and her team to pivot.

Through the Eyes of the World wasn't huge?

Through the Eyes of the World wasn't huge?

It didn’t seem very successful in comparison to the A New Day DVD.

Although, I love it!

You do realize that makes it even worse, right?

God... remind me to never say anything that would be regarded by most as positive ever again

Apparently the dates for the French shows on their ticketing website have disappeared, which leads me to believe we've got an announcement incoming in the next few days. Here's what I see playing out.

There are three different announcements I could think of that they could drop:

  1. The POSTPONEMENT of the EUROPEAN LEG - This is the option I think is most likely as we don't have enough data yet to touch the North American dates and I would assume that the VEGAS contract is flexible enough to have the date pushed back for Celine to finish the Courage tour.

  2. The CANCELLATION of the EUROPEAN LEG - I don't think this is very likely UNLESS they are unable to reschedule due to VEGAS in which case I could see them doing this and an Asian leg during the summer like they did at The Colosseum.

  3. The CANCELLATION of the WHOLE TOUR - The most drastic option due to not being able to push back the both sets of announced dates (Europe and North America) due to the VEGAS contract not being able to be pushed back.

Time will tell.

If Céline can push back the start of her 2nd Vegas residency a few times, able to cancel AND at the very last minute (which didn't happen coz of René) and can get out that ICM contract that "easy" (not mentioning what it can cost her), then I'm quite sure a possible new Vegas contract (which we don't know a thing about) is quite flexible. Especially for Céline being the Vegas queen.

If the turner is postponed to the next year they would have to change everything, they are two years stopped, they would have to reformulate the shows, I think so.

Nah knowing her and her team they will have new costumes, maybe dye the granny wig brown but the rest of the show will remain the same. Lol

I think Vegas and no one there to push her to get the best of her has made her lazy artistically when doing shows.

I think Rene left ideas/plans for the 2016/2017 mini tours as they were pretty good as were the set lists and I think now it’s clear she’s on her own and I hope this two years off will give them fresh ideas to evolve the tour but I wouldn’t count on it at the same time.... not moaning just saying!

I’ve been seeing comments wondering if the new dates could be in line with a new French album, which could very well be the case.

:giggle:

Don't you think it's rather her being finaly able to do what she wants ? I mean where were you the last 30 years where we had to endure the same setlist with absolutly no possibility of new orchestration because René forbade that ?

I went to see celine live for the first time in 2004 in Vegas so the previous concerts are irrelevant to me :P

So... you still understand then, that from 2004-2014, with the exception of 2013, Rene was in charge, and showcased extremely lacklustre set lists and performance change (after the initial productions had been all made and finished by someone else)?

To say her actual shows, set list quality and arguably even her performance itself hasn’t become more energetic and natural since Rene stepped down, is in my opinion, completely false. Just because she didn’t make a massive fan favourite filled tour for Courage (and before anyone replies, I perfectly understand and share the annoyance of lack of new songs from the album), doesn’t mean that up until that point, the three mini tours and hell even the change ups to Vegas from 2015 onwards, haven’t all been better than virtually anything produced during Renes tenure

When (or if) the tour ever actually does start up again, I see "Imperfections" being cut and maybe, maaaaaaaaybe the new Diane Warren song being added if the reception of it is great and it comes anywhere close to actually charting anywhere.

If she changes any songs I can see her removing Imperfections. Honestly, I wouldn't mind because although it's the most successful on the album it bores me. I just hope against hope that it's replaced by another Courage song.

Maybe, after such a long rest, she'll feel confident to take a chance on one of the more difficult songs like CMM, THW, HOG, or another shot at LD.

I miss her so much. I can't imagine another year of no new Celine content :(

Let her be enlightened and decide to give us a little something to hold us over.

I'm hoping beyond all hope that the North American leg can go on as scheduled this August and September. I don't know what I'll do if she postpones the entire tour into 2022 besides go insane! We need new stuff to hold us over. :teary:

Let’s get those refunds issued!

I'm assuming many of you weren't around for 2000-2001, the two years where she just completely disappeared and did absolutely nothing with the exception of the 9/11 concerts and recording a duet with Garou. If this forum had been around at that time, people here would've lost their minds!

The differences are many.

1) Celine communicated she was going on a break for an open-ended, extended period of time.

2) The break was to start a family---who would begrudge someone their maternal time.

3) This was after 10+ years of nonstop album releases and touring. She wasn't holed up in Vegas for any of that decade.

4) This was before the age of social media, whereas now it is easy to keep up with fans, post updates, share old footage, all of which could be done by her team.

5) No one is losing their mind. No one hates Celine. That is again disparaging rhetoric.

6) Even if people do really super mega need Celine in their life, who are you to judge? That's what super fans are for. They exist for all artists. You would think a fan forum is where people wouldn't judge other fans for that.

I remember that, I thought how am I going to get through. But it it all went well, like it will be now.

Surreal that I bought tickets in October 2019 and won’t see the show until June 2022.

I get why dates are scheduled out so far, I had tickets for early last year as well, but at this point starting a tour from an album you did 3 years prior is weird. I think leave Courage alone and put out a new album next year and tour on it. We need a new French album as well.

What are the chances live music will be back to normal by next Summer?! :hmm:

Hmmmm - trying to decide whether to keep my Paris ticket or not - it's not like it's just around the corner so it requires major travel each time. But at least September's a time I would normally travel anyway.

Anyone hear anything about North American dates being rescheduled? I have Vancouver tix for this September, and I doubt those shows will go ahead, either.

I need to say how beautiful Celine is in this video, her hair is growing and is beautiful in that size.

About the tour, we will have to wait another year to see her on stage, I just hope that they change some things on the show, add more songs like, ANDHC, Flying My Own, take the Kiss medley and put Unison and more songs from Courage, it would be nice if there were some dancers.

Unfortunately it is part of the moment we are living in, I believe that only next year things will return to normal, I hope that SOny relaunches Courage, launches some new singles, this one is wonderful and cannot be forgotten.
