It certainly better then keep complaining to the other fans.

 

But for me, personally, the message lost the appeal when it talk about the name of the tour. It's small minded and a little be disrespectful. Artistically speaking, the name of a tour is representative of an momentum and not the quantity of songs from a specific album.

Artistically, promotionally, technically speaking, when a tour is named in support of an album, it's there because... it should support an album. This tour only supports (again) her greatest hits and her covers. They could've easily named it the "Hits tour" or "Best of Céline tour".

 

Like Robin said... we've been complaining about this since September and now it's time to put words into action.

Good idea but I think mentioning it's not a greatest hits tour comes off a bit aggressive and informal. It would have been better imo to mention that being the Courage tour fans feel the album is being underrepresented, that we understand many hits are essential but that there might be a better way to balance the old with the new (and even the rare).

I don’t think i can do that kind of letter and post it on social media. I think it’s embarrassing and disrespectful for céline. It’s like complaining right in front of her compared to this forum. Well, at least it’s more private. Just say your complaints here at least the people who will see that are just the members of this forum (that’s why this forum exists to exchange ideas/opinions good or bad) and i think céline’s team are viewing this forum. And yet things like this very thing have caused those in charge of entertainment offerings to in fact change things. If it weren’t for passionate fans who won’t just accept anything thrown at them, the change of Sonic’s design in the recent “Sonic the Hedgehog” film would not have happened, for example.

 

It’s obvious there is more than just a very small handful of fans who are displeased with the setlist. You can find grumblings about the topic on all social media platforms: Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, et al.

The only wrong move was going on tour first before releasing the album. As i have said before.. it’s already fixed. The setlist is fixed. The visuals for the songs are already done. As we can see, they put effort on those visuals. Look at the new added song ‘Imperfections’, the visuals are recycled. That visual are used when céline is doing a speech.

 

if they did like in TC era. Release the album first before going on tour.. They can now choose songs from the album since it was already revealed.

What's the point with complaining in private? If you complain, that means you're not happy with something and what better way to handle it to say it as directly as possible to those involved (instead to people who can't do anything about it). TeamCéline has claimed for years her "biggest fans" want to hear the hits. Well they/we don't (at least we do partly, but not the same ones/versions for over 20 years).

I agree that you don't have to sing a lot of songs from an album just because you name a tour after the album. SO many other artists name their tours after their newest release -- but then they sing mostly the hits.

 

I'd love to see more songs from Courage performed. But I also think this current setlist is a HUGE crowd-pleaser.

You’re still talking about a few fans when compared to the amount of fan an artist of Celine Dion’s status has. And you’re comparing Celine’s tour to a Sonic the Hedgehog movie?

 

A group of people complain on social media - that’s what they do. All of us who work in the industry know not to pay attention to that BS. You know what Celine sees every night when she’s performing. People singing along with her. People smiling. People crying. People dancing. As long as that’s what she sees, ain’t nothin’ gonna change.

 

If you guys really want to make change, you need to get together and buy out the first 10 rows for 40-50 shows and do nothing but sit there with a sour puss on every one of your faces.

Yup! That’s the way i handle that. I’m sorry if you’re sorry for me lol. I prefer to complain and say my opinion here since it’s a forum than complain on public/social media (not a fan of attention on public) where many people can see it. I’m too shy lol And i think céline’s team knows that this forum exists. I just think it’s disrespectful to post it on public and it’s like giving negative feedback from that tour. Not all who go from this concert are a massive fan. I think there are no complaints at all from this tour. Almost all are positive. And that’s what matters to me.

I do wish she’ll bring back Lying Down again. FOMO eh not so much. I don’t like the live arrangement of that song. I prefer the studio version.

I agree that taking an active role in trying to get Team Celine to listen to her hardcore fans is something positive, especially if done respectfully. There's nothing wrong with trying to get them to improve on the setlist because while the general audience is loving it (and they are, and even those of us that want more from Courage have fun at the show) that doesn't mean there isn't room for improvement. The album most definitely deserves to be better represented in the COURAGE tour.

 

That said, comparing the tour to what happened with the Sonic movie is not accurate. For starters the level of backlash the movie's CGI got was huge, it was everywhere, even people not interested in the movie heard about it, it was in mainstream media, youtube reactors were talking about it, it was big on twitter, tumblr...everywhere. The backlash would have more than likely guaranteed that the movie would not make any profit (see CATS) and that's why they changed it. The displeased fans of Celine's setlist is nowhere near as large and the tour has been selling out since it was announced and well after the setlist was known. Unfortunately, there's not a lot that's making them feel it's necessary to actually take notice or feel incentive to make changes. At least not in the US, and the only reason they'd make changes for Europe is due to the singles that were released there (plus the fact that she's been there in the past few years) and it's likely those changes were already planned from the start.

 

All I/we can hope for is for future concerts/tours to be less "greatest hits" since she has now officially made her touring "comeback" in the US (and everywhere else). And hopefully by then they do take the hardcore fans wishes more into consideration.

Of course I expect to hear “the hits” on any Celine tour. But I expected album tracks from “Let’s Talk About Love” on the LTAL tour. I expected album tracks from “Taking Chances” on the TC tour. Guess what? I expected tracks from “Falling Into You” on the FIY tour. Using these examples, these tours fairly represented the albums the tours were NAMED AFTER.

 

How dare any of us expect the Courage World Tour to reflect the album it was named after.

 

But don’t dare share that opinion or feedback eh?
