Popular Post couldawouldashoulda Posted February 29, 2020 at 05:03 AM Popular Post Posted February 29, 2020 at 05:03 AM The show tonight was, once again, phenomenal and an incredible experience for everyone around me. I was 9th row on the floor and everyone stood and danced through the entire show. My casual Celine friend was floored - said she’d never experienced a show like that. She especially loved the dance medley at the end - thought it was so fun and interesting to see Celine sing other artist’s songs. I sat next to a woman I didn’t know who was there alone. We got to talking and she said she’d been really worried that would be a lot of new songs off of Courage. It was her first time seeing Celine and she really wanted to hear all the music she grew up with. I told her not to worry. She, too, had the best time. Loved the dance medley. Sang along to every song (other than C, I, and TLBSEPT.) I know that all you crazy hardcore fans who watch every single YouTube video of every single show that Celine performs get bored with the set list. And you should if you watch that much. But for just about everyone else who sees this tour thinks it’s the most magical, amazing tour they’ve ever seen. Are they wrong and you’re right? Are you wrong and they’re right? I think neither. I think this show is for all the general fans seeing her for the first time. The hard core fans are gonna buy a ticket and enjoy themselves just cuz it’s Celine. Sure, they’ll *CENSORED* and moan on a message board or on social media but ultimately, you’re all gonna shell out the money to see her. She’s Celine Dion. And that’s the way it is. 17 Quote
Popular Post celine_foreva Posted February 29, 2020 at 05:36 AM Popular Post Posted February 29, 2020 at 05:36 AM I was there tonight, couple rows back and it was my first time seeing her and I've been a fan since 1996. Finally had the means to buy two concert tickets and fly from South America to see her. It was phenomenal! It's one thing seeing the vids and hearing the songs, it's an entire different thing to see her live. I wish I could see her again tomorrow night. I've followed the threads and I know that some people dislike the set list but for a long time fan like me, this was my first time and I thoroughly enjoyed the entire thing, just being there, being able to sing along to everything she sang. I could care less about the set. I just loved being in her presence, hearing her, experiencing her and I'm not ashamed to say that I got emotional couple times. It's funny because both shows I've been to I've sat near people that were super excited for the hits AND the new songs. There's a mix of all kinds of people expecting and hoping different things but I've not come across a single person saying they didn't love the show. I still think they could add more songs from the album, even if it's within another medley. Like, maybe instead of YTV and the rehearsal bit (which is nice) they could've had a Courage medley of 3 songs. Anyway, coulda woulda shoulda... Here comes the sun... let's hope this stay in NY leads to some more surprises too. Popular Post Thomas Posted February 29, 2020 at 02:10 PM Popular Post Posted February 29, 2020 at 02:10 PM (edited) If anyone else likes all the technical stuff that goes on behind the scenes, this article on the various stage lifts for Celine and the band is pretty interesting! Plus some really cool HQ photos from the tour. http://www.taittower...ar-lift-system/ A few of the facts from the article:On several occasions throughout the show, Celine Dion is lifted 5.5 ft above the venue floor using the stair lift to stage level.Celine Dion’s musicians rise 8 ft. above the venue floor via the Band Lifts.During the show, the drummer is lifted 16 ft. above the venue floor to reveal a 6 ft. tall circular structure for Celine Dion to walk through for her grand entrance. The light wall lift is 10 ft. wide by 3.5 ft. deep and lifts 10 ft. above the venue floor via 2 Mod Lifts.During Celine’s Drum lift reveal, the video wall lifts up in sync the drum lift and then the video wall lowers to reveal Celine Dion inside the drum lift’s circular structure. The light wall, video wall and drum lifts weight a total of 30,000 lbs. CelinesDIVO5 Posted February 29, 2020 at 05:57 PM Posted February 29, 2020 at 05:57 PM Okay, apparently I’m in the minority haha. I like energy as much as the next fan, but yeah in my opinion this is a very corny song and would’ve reinforced the “Céline is uncool” stereotype... At the time, most of Celine’s audience were people who grew up on this type of music. It’s called a crowd pleaser. It got people excited. That entire audience was living for it. scielle Posted February 29, 2020 at 08:24 PM Posted February 29, 2020 at 08:24 PM (edited) Looking lovely and happy on the streets of NYC today: https://www.gettyima...=newest#license I was at the concert last night, and was very surprised by how young the audience was. Pretty much every Celine show I've been to so far was a mostly boomer, mostly female audience. But last night, it looked to me like the majority of the crowd was millennial. I wasn't expecting that. Groups of guys, groups of girls, lots of people proudly wearing their homemade Celine shirts (with pics dating back to '80s and early '90s). Definitely not a "I'm only here because the wife dragged me" kinda crowd. I'm going again tonight, but must say, I've never been this unexcited about a Celine show. This set list does absolutely nothing for me. In fact there are several songs on there I just can't stand. Still, it's always nice to see her live, I suppose, and especially when she gets a reception like she did last night. She was a top-10 trending topic in NY last night, by the way. And yes, I saw at least one Celine billboard at Times Square (a video one though, so you had to wait around for many others to cycle through before it got to Celine). Also, if she reads any reviews at all, I hope she reads the NYT one. Particularly the last sentence: "Maybe she should set herself an actual challenge next, and do an intimate Broadway residency à la Springsteen — with wiggle room for improv."
