Courage World Tour - EU shows CANCELED

Ooh nice! Now that you've been there last night, what was your favorite concert of hers that you saw, and why?

I think my favorite was A New Day (2006), the show and her voice were amazing.....the crowd was VERY boring. Long story short, I was "traumatized" by being confronted by a ticket holder sitting behind us because he wasn't happy that we were standing and dancing (we were not too many rows from the stage). Thankfully security allowed us to watch the show from the side of the stage which I can only appreciate years after, at the time I was FUMING!!!!!

I'll always treasure seeing her in Indianapolis for the first time (1999) with my mom since she is the one that started my obsession with Ms. Dion and from what I've gathered, this show in Indianapolis was the first concert Celine performed after finding out Rene had cancer the first time.

The Final Shows (March 2019) was also memorable since it was the first time my fiance had seen her in concert (he is not a fan at all, he really only supports Madonna) and he actually enjoyed himself!!!!.....can't say the same for him with the Courage concert, it didn't help that he was hearing the same songs he had just heard months before.

I think the biggest thing different with the Courage concert were the visuals, it really made the show for me AND I was so happy she was getting so much support from the audience.

Aww, that’s nice! I guess I don’t really have anything to compare it to yet. That’s cute that your mom got you into her. I’m glad your fiancé liked her Vegas show. Maybe one day he’ll appreciate her even more!

I also bought the black long sleeve tour shirt with the album cover on it, and wore it to work today. It was $70, but hella comfy!

I want that shirt too! Is there a short leeves item?

How can I wait till June to buy it? (emoji holding face in his hands)

I don’t think there was a short sleeve version of it, but some of the other short sleeve shirts looked nice too!

Was reading some reviews of the last concerts, as far as I saw many people thougth

the concert starts at 7:30 pm, but it was up to 45 minutes/1 hour later

when Celine showed up on the stage. It's pity the tickets don't state

that the show doesn't really start on this time, so people won't be fed up with Celine

for this "delay".

From the shows I’ve been to so far the delay seems mainly because of long lines getting into the venue. In Minneapolis, a lot of people weren’t even able to get in to their seats until 8:20. So I don’t think it’s necessarily about Céline running late

I've been surprised reading this kind of reaction a few times in this thread - not sure if it's an LA thing or not, but I'd never show up to a concert at the listed start time. For a 7.30 or 8pm list time, I'd generally arrive for around 8.45pm, unless there was an opening act I wanted to see. List times tend to be more like "doors open" times and "get the audience here early so they spend money at the bar before the show" times, and pretty much no concerts in LA start before 9pm for the headliner other than at a couple of specific venues, or if the artist appeals primarily to a much older crowd. (I also always check the venue and artist's social presence for set times just to be safe.) I thought that was pretty standard for concerts like this - as opposed to events such as plays/shows/musicals/etc. - but maybe it's market-specific.

At least with Japanese stuff they list two times, one for doors open and one for show start, usually about an hour difference. Likely has to do with them not specifying what it is exactly.

Ticket time is usually just the time that they open the doors so that everyone can file in, get refreshments, stop by the merch tables and find their seats.

Guys, you can actually see the same comments as well on Ticketmaster, when I went to shows aborad I knew the show

never starts in the same time it appears on the ticket, but the website of the same artist did sent an email stating that

and gave also other explantions why there can be such delay.

Who knows maybe those people came to see her for the first time?

and they weren't aware to this fact that show always has some kind of delay from different reasons.

The ticket should say 8:00 and if she was able to plan her entrance to the minute with 30 min advance, it would be cool if she had a black screen with a timer that counted down from 30 min to zero.

Seen a vegas show a couple months ago that was setup that way.

My tickets say 8 p.m. (Poland). So maybe it's an American thing...

Well, the tickets here in North America say 7:30 show time, and as a result every show there’s a bunch of angry people thinking she’s an hour late. And venues perpetuate this because many of them post on social media “Doors: 6:30, Celine: 7:30”. Doesn’t help.

She really should have an opening act. Either that, or make it clear the show starts 2 hours after doors open.

Posted (edited)

I don't get the fuzz about the time she comes on stage.

Here in Holland most of the times they just write 'doors open at 6'

And most opening acts start at 8,and the artist at 9.

It's a common thing, so I don't get why people blame her for being late.

They never been to a Madonna concert :sofunny:

Edit: ah now I see on my ticket doors open at 6.

Date & time is 7.30

Made you think she starts at that time yeah.

I don't think I've ever been to a show where the main act goes on right at the time on the ticket. Usually there's an opening act and even they don't start right on time.

That said....saw an article about Madonna's first night at The Colosseum last night....she didn't take the stage until 12:30 for a 10:30 show. At least Celine isn't diva enough to do this....

People shouldn’t be angry at Celine for that. People take their time getting to their seats. Is she supposed to start the show with an arena that’s only a quarter capacity full?

I agree. That’s part of the fun part of attending an arena concert in my opinion. Going to first find my seat; then going back up to check out merchandise, get drinks, take pics around the venue etc. It helps to extend an evening that I have been looking forward too, so I’m not in a hurry!

Ha - I'm completely the opposite! I hate the waiting around - I want to show up, take my seat, and have the show start. If I know the set time, then I can decide for myself if I want to get there early enough for merch/food/drinks. I hate the games they play between published start time and actual start time.

But if you already know you’re going to be waiting...

No wonder there's so much complaining about it - both on social media & at venues; not everyone has an extra hour to burn on a Tue work night (lord knows, it's extremely hard for me to get out of work before 7:30pm, and I certainly don't want to be using up goodwill to do it for no reason!)

But hey, at least she's not Madonna! The Colosseum must be really missing Celine right about now... :giggle:

Madge showing up so late CP is offering people refunds!

And on a related note, I'm really disappointed she doesn't have an opening act. Think of what a platform that would be for young talent - and she could showcase more than one artist; have different people do different legs if she wanted to.

Celine was given that opportunity when she was starting out, and it opened a lot of doors for her. It's a pity she's not doing the same for other artists.

Speaking of madonna i find it amazing this show of 21 songs featuees 12 songs off her new album.

She is similar position in career of celine. Long established with a fan base that largely attends for the hits, not the new stuff.

I wish celine would follow suit. Courage is an amszing album that needs heard.

Opening act usually means shorter show I think. Celine fans probably want more classics than for Madonna and since Madonna writes like everything there is probably more push there.

She doesn’t owe anyone anything in that regard. And she’s had opening acts before, and guest vocalists. She’s done her share, in my opinion.

A lot of people (hardcore fans included) at the show I went to, were not thrilled that she did so much off of the new album. They were also already pissed at the late start lol.

I am also going to see her in February in London and am a bit terrified at the late hour it's supposed to start and end. I also need to commute back home and work the next day, hopefully she won't finish the show at 3 AM :sofunny: :sofunny:

Okay, so my review that you've all been waiting for, haha. First, the bad; My friends didn't want to spend a lot, so we ended up getting nose bleed seats. The view wasn't bad, but the monitor in front of us didn't match with the sound being played, and trying to get a good photo or video wasn't great because the spotlight washed her out most of the time. I also wish I had stayed more in the moment instead of trying to get a good pic or video.

With that being said, the show itself was great! At the beginning, the audience cam was catching everyone dancing, both young and old. There was an older mom with a Celine shirt next to her son with a Metallica shirt on, and the camera cut back to them multiple times while they danced, and the whole crowd cheered every time they came on. I sat with one of my friends next to me, and then 2 more friends were also in attendance elsewhere in the arena. Within 1-2 songs, both of the other friends texted me to say they were in awe and had died and gone to heaven. The friend next to me had goosebumps multiple times throughout the night, and kept mouthing, "Oh my God,"and clapping and cheering. She also cried during Courage. Afterwards, she said it was one of the top 3 shows she's ever seen and had so much more respect for Celine.

Celine's voice was great though, even at 51! I didn't notice many audible cracks in her voice, if any. Like David Foster said many years ago, you don't really get the power of her voice until you see her in person. It seemed like everyone respected her by the end of the show, even the husbands who were dragged along by their wives, lol. They were converted, just like the rest of us!

And yes, Lying Down was added back in the show, as previously mentioned.

I also bought the black long sleeve tour shirt with the album cover on it, and wore it to work today. It was $70, but hella comfy! I recommend seeing her if you haven't already because everyone had a good time. Especially the two drunk girls next to me singing every word she sang too. :giggle:

Nice reading this :)

As for starting late, no wonder Madonna is being sued, she is being disrespectful toward her fans,

on a level I've never seen before!

Celine is of course far from this situation, but I don't get it what is the big deal to make it clear

for good and for once to avoid the disappointment of people attending to her shows.

I think it's also go to do with people having the tendency to arrive late (albeit on purpose or not). By saying an event starts for example 7.30, while in reality in starts at 8.15, will make sure people who arrive late don't miss the beginning of the show (especially with no opening act). One way or the other, part of the audience always arrive late.
