Could you imagine!! Poor thing wouldn't know what to do. I'd feel so awful....not sure I could ever do that. As much as I'd love to hear more of the newer stuff, when you're there live, it just works. But I wish she'd trust her own judgement a bit more. If she's tired of doing them, save a couple of key songs, and do all new ones. I think she'd be pleasantly surprised by the reaction. And realize we love that idea as much as she does. And keep going with it.

A majority of people are there to see hits I find. Often whenever I am with people watching concerts they wonder "Why are they doing this random B-side / new song, we want to hear these classics" and I imagine that is often what goes through a lot of concertgoers' heads, lol.

I've seen everyone from Taylor Swift to the legends, and somehow most manage to find a balance between performing 10-12 songs off a new album and 10-12 hits. It's just that the hits rotate so not every tour has the same hits, and that keeps people going back for more. Celine's literally the only artist I follow who performs the same hits for 20 years and nothing else, and now includes a quarter covers on top. It's very strange.

To be fair, it was a bit silly not to cancel all the dates all at once due to her illness and waiting the last minute in order to see if she could still perform the two remaining dates, just hoping she could. It wasn't very stable and consistent.

It would have been way more effective, sensitive to fans, and less 'alarming' to the media, to just say "she has a flue, all shows are postponed in february".

And no one would have complained.

 

Plus she could recover at ease, without stressing about "will I be able to perform these two nights".

 

She was probably basing it off of what her doctor was telling her.

I agree with 100%! If she wants to sing “You’re The Voice” because she loves it, she should sing it. However, what doesn’t make sense is… Singing that in addition to a medley on steroids of covers. There’s no reason for us to have “Another One Bites The Dust” in a show while hits like ANDHC or IDAN aren’t in the show; or more than 2 songs off a new album in which the tour is named from, makes no sense.

 

Nobody would mind if Celine wanted to have a cover or two but right now she does 7 covers...... ( and that’s not counting the covers she did on her albums and made popular like ABM or TPOL).

I think from memory she has dropped I'm your Angel due to all the R Kelly issues around. It's been removed from a lot of music sites. So pr9b why she doesn't sing it live now. I do love the song though.

I really think Celine underestimates the general public. Doing some new songs off each new album is the only way they will ever become known. Many fans of Celine's are fans in large part because of her unique voice. I know it'll never happen, but if she sang The Hard Way, I can't imagine that any casual would be "oh no, an unknown song" instead of being blown away by her stunning voice and those glorious melodies.
