Courage World Tour - EU shows CANCELED

Recommended Posts

I have been busy this week and only vaguely following this thread. I just had to read back a few pages to see why people were talking about Celine cancelling shows.

Think I'm a bit paranoid having had the show postponed whilst I was in Montreal in September. I fly back next Saturday ready for the show on 18 November.

Who here has had to call in sick to work? Hands up- I have. Why can't Céline? Why can't any singer? Céline is not unique in cancelling concerts. And we know she only will as a last resort, hence the sometimes 'inconvenient' last minute cancellation. It happens. She isn't sat filing her frigging toenails saying to Michel, 'nah, can't be arsed tonight, send a post to Facebook will ya?' Why are so many people on here such precious little poor sissy woofters that can't accept the reality of the world? I would be devastated if she cancelled on me (as I was in 1999 when her husband got diagnosed with cancer and she cancelled Belfast) but such whingeing and incessant yapping. So exhausting and repetitive.

No one complained about Celine cancelling shows for being sick, where did you read that?!

We complain about the way they handled those cancellations.

Celine was sick. So they postpone shows. Okay. No problem in that. There's 6 dates for Montreal and they postpone only 4 while keeping only 2? Why? Why did she HAVE to perform on those last dates? To introduce new Courage songs? :laugh:

What was the result of such decisions?

-Celine wasn't able to recover peacefully because she stressed wether she could be able to perform or not on those 2 dates;

-Ticket Holders were feeble because they feared the last 2 shows would get cancel too;

-Celine didn't recover well enough to perform (of course!) so they have to make ANOTHER cancellation announcement;

-On such short notice, it was too late to cancel flights/hotels without having to pay cancellation fees (whereas they could have one week prior, if all dates were scraped at once);

-Celine had to record that pityful apology video instead of resting quietly at home without any public appearance or work related thing (once more!);

-The media exagerate the whole thing writing "Courage World Tour off with a very problematic start: celine cancel ONCE AGAIN!".

And I'm not just saying that a posteriori. When they cancel only 4 shows, I went '"WTF? Cancel all shows, it's safer for everyone!". But no...

All that for a cold?! (supposedly, I don't know what really happened health wise).

None of that melodramatic nonsense would've had happened if they just decided to cancel all 6 shows saying "celine's got a flue/cold/bad reaction to botox, therefore all shows are postponed to february."

Aren't we allowed to complain about her team organization? THAT is what we are complaining about. The handling of things and poor unprepared reaction. Not the fact she cancelled due to illness! :rolleyes:

And I don't know where you live, but in France, if I call in sick, they will ask me a medical notification. Which I cannot obtain until 3 days later, when I can finally have an appointment with a doctor (due to lack of doctors available, too low numerous clausus, medical deserts, ER overflowing, etc.) whilst I only have 2 days to present a medical note to my employer according to Work Law. And I won't have one, because three days later when I go to the doctor, my cold has passed away, since for a cold, a nice honey and lemon cup of tea is doing as good a job as a doctor.

So I will get an "absence without justification" notice in my professional file and CAN lose my job if my boss is a jerk.

But neo-liberalism isn't the subject here. :wink1:

Also, I got my show cancelled in 99 too (Lyon, Stade de Gerland). But it was announced months in advance, so it isn't quite comparable.

And I'm not really convinced they cancelled it because of René's cancer. They knew how his health would be six months in advance in 99, while in 2019 they cannot predict how her cold would go one week in advance?

I may be too cynical, but the stadium wasn't sold out by far, and the Paris dates wasn't either. So....

Of course they didnt know how Renes cancer would be in 6 months! Imo it was more of Rene telling her to “get on with it” and “soldier on”, like he always did. Then, as often happens when large chunks of shows are cancelled and rescheduled, they couldnt get a hold of the venue for the rescheduled date, which would be more than understandable. Again, a cold is a far more easy to get rid of and far more unpredictable, you can wake up after a horrid day and its gone, so lets not make a comparison between her cancelling due to a cold and her husband suffering from cancer, please and thank you. I guess the next thing is she cancelled July 2014-August 2015 cause that didnt sell either :rolleyes:

Yes, they've been promoting quite heavily as of late. Still waiting for the "Ne party pas sans moi" T-shirts to come back in stock though!

Not sure if this has been ask yet or not, but I wonder who does her laundry , and how many outfits she carry's with her on this tour,?

Céline said that the songs she would most like to perform are songs that weren't hits and could also be found amongst the "B-sides".... (something along those lines in q podcast, you've all probably heard it already)

Then whyyy oh whyyy, please Céline DO! Your fans want it too!

Sure she has some mandontory hits to perform (but she shouldn't have to do them all, give some a rest inbetween tours, like BATB, TLYM) so do that, and THEN do the others.... not clamp in let's say Lady Marmalade in there instead.

Or, do a little medley of 3 or 4 hits, just sing a verse and chorus and that would be 7 minutes and that leaves time for 3 rare songs and she still gets in “all the hits”

7 minute medley of the greatest hits then 3 rare songs? Short concert. Hope the ticket price wont be like it is now. 😁

Yeah you’re right actually.. I’d prob be mad lol — well cut the cover medley!!

Posted

Well I mean if that was all the concert (7 min medley + 3 rare songs) it would be over in less than half an hour.

But she can fill out the time after that with only songs from Courage.

What a tour THAT would be! They could call it Courage World Tour.

Yeh that’s where I was going with that. Not that she only sing a medley and 3 rare songs - that would be a short show haha - but she condense well known songs into a 7 min medley, get rid of the 10 minute cover medley, and sing all her other hits in full and give us some rare gems with the time saved of doing the medley and doing a short cover medley or get rid of it all together(the cover medley)

Posted
Yeah, the cover medley is totally unnecessary. She should do a medley of her own (favorite B-side or fan favorite) songs

I have a feeling she might be doing something like this after the world tour (and a break)... unplugged/acoustic/b-sides/anti-tour.

It would be the perfect time to do it, especially with not having a Vegas show... having just done a big world tour where she's singing her big hits (again) and she can do it just in a small venue in a few places for a longer period of time.

Yes, that's been my thinking, too.

She'd get the hits out of the way for the masses with this tour, and then do the "B-sides" that she supposedly loves so much, with a smaller production and for a smaller audience.

Well she has said such so I guess in time we’ll see. I would love it!

do you think she would really go for it? It wouldn’t really pay off finally speaking. Why making the same effort for 5000 people with a b-sides-show when you can fill a 30000 seats arena and sell it out?

Well, that is the entire reason why she still sings a lot of what she does. The average concertgoer goes to see the classics. I find it is really hard for artists to balance pleasing the fans and also embracing the newer material if possible and with Celine it seems like there are too many hits that people do want to see that at most you only get a few new songs or else you risk alienating people. It gets impossible to predict what she will do especially for this kind of stuff. But while engaging in such a Biggest hit world tour it has never felt that natural and logical if we follow her mind, to embark in an Anti tour.

And If I Didn’t feel the need to see her since 2013 in France. I promess this time I would kill for that. 😁

Just ask Madonna. Shes doing theatre shows now with ridiculous prices and yet its selling out with ease. Shes charging like $800 for the first few rows, and with platinum tickets over $1,200.... money aint an issue lol

I’ve been keeping an eye on the LA shows

Still lots of tickets available for Madonna’s November leg here

Ticketmaster dropped their prices down to 130 for a lot of seats

I have a question. Do you guys think Celine will extend the tour after the last shows in London in europe? I know it's already a huge tour, but calling it a world tour while only visiting north america and europe and middle east seems a bit odd. What about south africa, south america and asia, australia? She's been to asia and australia on her last tour (2018) but at the time it would be realistic to go again, it would be almost three years. The same amount of time europe had from 2017 to 2020. What you guys think, will Celine extend this tour? For my part why not? She take as much time as she wants to visit the rest of the world...no other project is on the horizon, atleast for you.
