Honestly, I don't like her outfits for this tour.. The 'outfits' didn't match with the songs she's singing.. (Hello, Medley 😂)

 

The stage, great I love it..

 

The setlist.. Hmm, if they just release the album on the day of the first show, For sure we have a GREAT setlist now 😂

This tour was cute and all the first 3 nights, but now it's just getting mediocre. Celine's voice is tired and she's giving 60% effort. She's cut 3 songs, making the setlist 15 minutes shorter (and for what reason!?).

 

In all honesty, the only things I can appreciate is the stage (which is beautiful btw) and the long black dress. Her costumes are pretty lame tbh and they don't look like something anyone would wear on stage. The pantsuit makes her look too formal. The white MHWGO dress is just kinda bland. No comments on the rest. And I'm not a big fan of her hair. The songs don't flow together well at all. It seems like something I would have on shuffle-play in my spotify playlist lmao. There's a few songs that I really just don't like (IYAMT, LCMM, BATB, AOBTD, LM, Imagine).

 

Obviously since I'm such a huge fan, I'll still go as I already have my tickets, I'm just slightly disappointed. Hopefully the show is better in person. The one word I can use to describe the tour from what I've seen is underwhelming. Shame. Luckily since the album comes out soon, we'll have a new setlist that will likely be permanent.

 

Hopefully I don't get attacked for this lol. Some people have no tolerance for negative opinions here.

I was in Louisville on 10/22 and she sounded the best I have ever heard her. The videos, even the amazing ones, do not do it justice. So I think you will be surprised.

 

The rest is subjective - the clothes and the hair and even the set list.. but vocally, she was phenomenal.

She's capable of sounding much better than she does right now, but I'm not gonna talk about that here. I'm sure it absolutely sounds better live, but from what I've seen from the tour so far, she sounds mediocre, like she's trying to save her voice for the rest of the tour. That's a good thing, but it results in giving us half-assed vocals. Last night specifically, she sounded like she was up all night and didn't use her voice at all before the show. Just compare her to 2017 or 2018, there's something just off with her voice that I can't place my finger on.

 

I'm actually seeing her next year in LA, looking forward to it.

The fact that she cut Lying Down from the setlist should be an issue which I don't see anyone talking about. That song may be a bit difficult, but it is the song she chose as her single and should be promoted as such. She sang one freaking song from the album. ONE. Where is the outrage? This is the CWT, not old hits tour.

I’ve been a member for a very long time, but obviously I don’t often post. I did, however wanted to take a minute and share something related to what I’ve been reading. Everyone has an opinion, but I think a lot of times we forget as fans, that her shows are trying to appeal to a far bigger audience than her “hardcore” fan base. Like it or not, it’s business. She’s not immune to that.

I say all that to say, I flew from NC to MN this weekend to visit friends and also because I felt like I couldn’t wait to see her in Jan/Feb in NC. She didn’t disappoint. I was on my feet, as was everyone around me. I’ve seen her live 8 other times before, but the energy there that night was like no other I’ve ever been to before.

She’s still winning people over guys. She’s still got it. Maybe now more than ever.

I'm happy i seen celine early in the tour before the album is released. At these earlier shows, i didnt have an expectation of her performing songs from the album. Come chicago, i will...(and she won't). It is sad. Having now heard it and knowing how phenomenal the 20 songs are, it is disappointing that only two songs have been a regular fixture in the setlist....so far... and both of those have been skipped on one night each. I honestly don't see her adding anymore new songs unless the show is drastically revamped (which isn't happening). 4 max, and that is a stretch now.

 

I really hope there is some sort of intimate fans concert where she dedicates it to the album and only the album, performing several or all of these songs. One can dream.

 

I gotta say ariana is singing 19 new songs on her tour as she released two albums and the other 5 songs not im the show she has sang on tv shows minus one song. Lady Gaga, taylor swift, and Katy perry are also very good at immersing their artistry into the era and allowing those songs to be the focal point of that time. Its weird but when i hear courage i think of tous les blues, iyamt and solo prayer (amongst courage and lying down). I should think of much more than that.

 

Having seen the medley four times at concert, i personally enjoyed it. But now that there are 20 new songs that desperately need heard, i hope they have their chance.

I've always thought the crowd ate up the medley but the reviews do not.

 

I know celine likes to cover and i wish imagine at the end of the show would be enough. Between the cover medley and you're the voice that is about 22 minutes of time that could be dedicated toward much more. 22 minutes is a lot.

 

These songs are beautiful and some of her best work. I hate that this album is just going to be swept under the rug.

Being a fan, what is the point to upload a video screaming she had a tired voice on the last show?

why not to upload the parts that one found amazing/enjoyable?

 

I think her voice on the last show wasn't that tired, she DOES try to perseve it

so she is not going and killing her vocals that much having this monster Tour ahead

that's just logical.

She is just a human being, and yes, sometimes

the P issue gets on my nerves, because I think the show should get shorter

allowing her to perseve her voice and also get rid of this sad joke

In my mind I've renamed this tour to "Broken Promises"... but after the album leaked and so many praise a new sound, being current and also old school, this tour really contrast badly to the album and era it's supposed to promote.

 

And some may say "oh she can't do that when the album is not out/this is what you get when starting a tour before the album is released".... and that doesn't have to be logic at all. They still could have given the tour a superb setlist, updated the sound and include some more new tracks but two (supposedly the other two we already got FOMO and I), and still add like one totally unknown track from C before the album came out. I am very sure that the people who are fan enough to buy a very expensive ticket to her show would be able to "endure" that....

 

I apperciate Celine lots, but I'm never blind to reality.

I feel shame that once this Tour started, people paid so much and got almost nothing from this beautiful album.

but yes, that won't never justify the shame we've been witnessing since this Tour began

so for the new setlist I keep low expections

and just hope they will create a decent setlist once she is allowed to sing more songs

About this "sit down" thing: I always had problems during Céline's shows (in Bern in 2017, in Geneva in 2008...). Everytime I stood, someone told me to sit. Sometimes it was people behind me (and I wanted to tell them: WHY DIDN'T YOU CHOSE A SIT ON THE TERRACE??? IT'S LESS EXPENSIVE AND NOBODY STANDS!!!" but of course I was too polite and just sat down.). And more often it was the security. Among fans there, we were so mad. And of course Céline and her team told us to stand up. But.... it's Céline's team fault actually. Why there are seats on the ground???? Why not standing on the ground, like in Zurich in 1999??? It's always surprising me. So I'm very excited to go to Paléo and Vieilles charrues festivals, to experience the great vibes on the ground just like in Hyde Park this year....

They were super disappointed because they didn’t know most of the songs. They wanted to hear Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Rocket Man, Tiny Dancer, Crocodile Rock. Probably the hardcore Elton fans loved the new material and jazz numbers. But the other 40,000 people left disappointed. And that’s EXACTLY the same with Celine. People want to hear her old iconic songs, they really don’t give a s**t about the fact it’s called a Courage tour.

So you have not been to these shows yet and are basing your judgment on the videos. Sorry, but you’re mistaken. She was at her 51-year-old best in Louisville. As I stated before, I’ve been to a lot of shows. She is not holding back here.

 

As for the “why is she only performing old stuff” — and the comparisons to people like Ariana and Katy.. that is just not the same thing. Celine has been in the business longer than they’ve been alive. She is pigeon-holed in a way that they are not. She has all these big hits from 25 years ago that people expect to hear.

 

This is anecdotal, but I really enjoy taking people to shows for their first time seeing her. I’ve taken probably a dozen people over the years - all have been believers after the show. They almost all were looking forward most to MHWGO. What a terrible song.

 

One of my friend’s adult son says he is a big fan and talked me into taking him to the Charlotte show on 1/21. He’s super excited. I played him Imperfections, Courage, Flying On My Own, and Lying Down. His response was “no thanks, just give me classic Celine” and then he said something along the lines of “oh god I hope she sings it’s all coming back to me now!”

 

This seems to be the majority. So sure, she could replace the medley or You’re The Voice with some of these new songs but people don’t know them at all and from just my experience they also don’t like them. Hell, even I don’t like them. From the album leak I was not impressed at all.

Funny, that's the one song from the album that I NEED to hear her sing live! Granted I haven't listened to the album yet (and I don't plan to). LD is such a powerful song, it deserves a spot on the setlist IMO, and it's also her single. All she needs is something to lip to and she won't have to suffer the high notes anymore. Cutting all but one single from the album won't help her with sales at all. She's not doing a very good job at promoting them, but maybe that will change when the album releases.

 

I don't mind LD being cut. I've never liked it anyway! Believe me there are moooore songs in the album that are better than LD. And those should be the ones added to the setlist. I'm actually wondering why they chose LD as one of the first singles. Actuallu, I think Courage, LD and Imperfections can just be considered as buzz singles. Haha

I was at Minneapolis this past weekend and I will say for Lying Down and Courage most people in my section sat down and reactions were not as enthusiastic as the hits. No one sang along. People clapped and all but immediately sat down. Just my observation. I think most casual fans want to see the hits and get excited about it. Especially if it's their first time seeing her. We hardcore fans on the other hand want new stuff. She just needs to find a balance between hits and new in my opinion and hoping that it will come after the album release.

This will probably be the last time I’ll attend a concert stateside. Had I waited until the tour began before buying tickets, I wouldn’t have bothered (or I would have at least waited for the $600-to-$1,600 tickets in Chicago to get slashed). If they see a backlash, it might not be until she tries going on tour again and not even hardcore fans will be willing to pay that much.

The reality is, as things stand, we had more “new songs” during Live 2017 when she performed “Recovering” and “How Does A Moment Last Forever” and also Live 2018 when we had “Recovering” and “Ashes” than we do in this new world tour named after a new album with 20 brand new original songs. It’s just weird to be honest. Does she not like her new songs? Can’t she sing them?

 

The songwriters and producers must be baffled as to why their material - some of which has been recorded for years waiting to be released - isn’t being performed.

 

People keep saying everything will change when the album is released so I guess we will find out in Montreal on 18th November.
