Courage World Tour - EU shows CANCELED

For me the best set list was in Copenhagen 2017😍

Exactly, that night was amazing... so what’s happened since that night and since that mini tour?

Visually it’s a great show, but the song choices...

A few changes I’d make.

Open with That’s The Way It Is, replace LCMM with Misled, replace The Prayer with A New Day Has Come, replace Your The Voice with Imperfections, and change The Reason for Immortality.

You know what the best song to end the concert would be: Courage! End with courage and make it intimate. Get rid of Imagine and put a different original song in the setlist instead.

it would be great if they would blend the images of the lights from the intro video with the intro music for TTWII (like in the music video) and then the song would start. Now that would be an opening!

I completely agree!

Other great options would be "Immortality", "Ce n'état qu'un rêve" or even "The Prayer".

Above everything, as her voice is always THE thing that I look for, I'm so happy to see her back at this level. And for me she's still at 90% but 90% for Dion is already out of this world.

I think everything has been said about the setlist , I mainly agree with all the critics but Billboard's review remains at the same time quite relevant as they put the setlist as one of the highlight of the show and at the same time I quite understand why. This is a typical a bit for everyone setlist for US. She's always a bit more conservative there and so this is a condensate, a quite good condensate of what made her successful there. Some covers, some old hit, still some few obsure songs and few new ones. It's not what I want, but looking at this way, it is a very solid setlist, and Billboard aknowledge that.

Above everything, Celine Dion on stage is something very unique to witness. The energy, the personnality, the charisma, the voice, the connection she is able to create, the strengh and fragility, it is unique, singular. It's unmatched in this POP female vocalist world, absolutly unmatched. She has never, absolutley never encapsulate all that at such a high level in her carrer. At 51, she is clearly at her best right now on stage. And whatever as shitty the setlist can be, no one can deny that and that's why people are here.

She enjoys that much to sing, she never experimented that much vocally. Indeed, she is getting the opposite as what critics were telling about her in the past as the robotic Céline. You're watching the best chanteuse in the world and this is it. I absolutly love the post 2016 Celine, almost another person for me on stage.

Also, her voice is getting so free, so more open and wild, she sounds so in control, she's finding the perfect balance with her more deep tone and a more open, subtil, versatile voice. It's so less stuffy than before.

She's absolutely unique on stage. At the end of the day it's really why people are there, the experience remains unique to see such a chanteuse.

And, Tous les Blues in US is still a bold choice, f****** bold choice, I love that.

Couldn't have said it any better!

Don't know where you got you're number but they are wrong lol, at least for all Montreal shows. You mention both shows in Feb in Montreal have 0 tickets left but there is plenty left on the official seller Evenko...

Yes! I'm so excited for TLB as the French song. So excited!! I really hope it stays.

As with any show...we go to hear her sing. Her voice is what draws us in. Yes, there is a plethora of songs she could have done instead of others. But she has soooo many....she'll never make all of us happy 100% of the time. That just doesn't exist anywhere in the world. She knows this and has said as much. So she just does her...which is fabulous....and doesn't worry about the rest. Could you imagine how stressful and exhausting it would be to live your life catering to make 100% of the people in the world happy 100% of the time? I'm so excited she's touring again and having fun outside of Vegas. Whatever arrangements she wants to play with are fine by me. Live, in the moment, is always different than cell phone videos.

IYAMT reached #4 on the Hot 100, and spent four weeks at #1 on the AC chart. It was definitely on the radio a lot when it was released.

I agree with this:

"The final song of the night (before the encore, obviously) was a mash-up medley that included Queen's "Another One Bites the Dust" and Prince's "Kiss," among others. And while these tunes offered her an opportunity to get the crowd pumped up — she doesn't have a whole bunch of upbeat songs in her repertoire after all — that part of the show felt like a leftover from her Caesars Palace residency in Vegas. She could have easily dug into her own catalog of songs here."

True. And in fact patti labelle (the original singer), in an interview, was upset by the fact that just because she's black, her own version did not get the same level of support from the public as did celine's version which was way more popular on the charts.

A nice review from Billboard: https://www.billboar...nd-best-moments

"Overall, Dion reminded everyone why she's one of the world's biggest stars with a forceful, engaging showstopping concert."

Also...

Song choices: With of 30-years-worth of discography to choose from, Dion did an impressive job seamlessly mixing older hits ("Beauty and the Beast") with her new singles ("Courage" and "Lying Down"), leaving no fan of her work disappointed. And her one-two encore punch of "My Heart Will Go On" and John Lennon's "Imagine" struck an extraordinary chord.

As a fan I'd like a different setlist, but I also understand the things they do and it seems to work well. I saw Cher on Thursday and she only sang 3 songs from the latest album even though the tour is to promote it. I'm glad she did that though, it was my first time seeing her and I wanted her hits. Many people go to see Celine for the first time, other might not even be so much into her music but still go because she is Celine Dion, so I understand their choices sometimes. Also they probably consider the reaction of the audience. From the concerts I attended in 2017, LIAWN and Misled were quite underwhelming for most people, while with Purple Rain for instance audience went mad, and they probably have all this in mind when they prepare the set-list... Still from Nov 15 I expect 4-5 songs from Courage.

Poor Patti, she needs to understand that her version was a flop not because she’s black but because it sounds bad, that’s all. Whitney Houston was also a black woman and she was having a bunch of hits back then.

As for the Cleveland concert, the only surprise was IYAMT. TTWII was a good choice but wasn’t really a surprise. As for The Reason, The Prayer, LCMM, BYLM (98% lipped), TLYM (100% lipped) and Imagine, I simply don’t care about these songs, plus FOMO is now completely gone and that’s a real shame considering it’s my favorite song out of the four new songs released so far :(. In a way, I’m glad to have attended the opening night in Quebec City, I think the setlist was overall better than the Cleveland’s one.

I just want to say i went all the way from front row to the bathroom, used the bathroom, washed my hands... this was in the very back and then i even got beers.

I left when she started talking about you're the voice and i made it back maybe 10 seconds into the first verse. The speech leading up to the song is longer than the song itself lol. That whole segment could provide a facelift for some necessary songs to appear once the album does drop!

I will say experiencing this song in person it is very fun and she enjoys it as the crowd does too. In person it's hard to hate this one but from the keyboard i completely understand.

I went in already dreading that moment, but I stayed in my seat, and the damn song worked LOL.

I still hate it from a video but in person dare I say I really enjoyed it!! I feel like a idiot admitting that I enjoyed after all the crap I’ve been saying about it lol.

I don't necessarily believe it was because of Patti's race that her version of the song didn't get attention. It's because Celine's version of If You Asked Me To sounds far better and that's why it became a hit. Celine's version has a fluidity to it that Patti's lacks. Here in the United States, most folks who lived through the 90s know that song and associate it with Celine Dion.

I'm THRILLED she's singing it again!

Perfect example of how Celine is transcendent onstage! It's all about being there in person. She is one of the greatest performers of all time. We often take her for granted and expect SO much from her. We just need to relax sometimes and enjoy the ride.

I was thinking of going to her concert, my first time was the Taking Chances tour. Was looking for the set list. I like that there's many of her old songs there.

Found this:

As soon as I heard the start of the song, I realized that it's not sung live (her voice sounds nothing like it used to unfortunately), then I read comments below the video and others noticed it, too.

Which songs from the set list does she sing live?

Posted

During her soundcheck, she kept singing the words... “I’m trying but I’m falling in love” it sounded so good, I thought it’d be a new song added to show, and I’m still convinced it still is a new song from the album that she’s using a warm up! I wish she would’ve sang it whatever it was lol!

And I saw Oprah’s bestie Gayle King there last night taking selfies with some of us in the front of the floor, I wonder if she was just there as a fan or if she was doing a segment for “The Early Show” since it was a bit random to see Gayle in Ohio of all places but maybe because it was her opening US show

I seriously wonder if they’re keeping Lady Marmelade till after the album to sub in a new song? A lot of folks know the tune of Lady Marmelade so it’s not a shock it’s in the set, I’m just wondering why it’s there. The ending is amazing, so I’m not complaining, just curious.

I also think FOMO would go well right after the medley! They could easily fit it in, I’m not sure why not. Even a shortened version. I just think the chorus is soaring and people get hyped up when Celine hits it! It genuinely is an amazing song.

If they INSIST on keeping LCMM in the show that should replace Lady Marmelade in the medley and give us ANDHC in LCMM spot of the show.

Even though I expected a lot more, it will be my third time seeing her in concert on january. First time was TCWT, I don't know what the opinions were at that time, but I really enjoyed every song of the concert (except that they cutted TSMGO and WWRY in my city). Second time was in Vegas 2015, the revamped show, 22 songs, most of them from her repertoire, including songs like If I Can dream with Elvis, Immortality (I guess it was a rare song back then), I surrender (an all time favorite) and an acoustic medley. That time she performed Incredible, and I don't like the song but, hell yeah I stood up, danced and sang!

Third time will be Courage world tour in january, hope they add more new songs by then, but I know I'll be fine... I mean is Celine Dion!

And she can't please all of us, so she opts for pleasing the majority. And it works extremely well. So yes, she'll keep doing it. Javito's 20 complaints per hour aren't going to change a thing, nor should they.

I think it should.

Die-hard fans are the ones who spend the most to see her. What happens if she doesn't please them? Well, I intended to see three shows. Now I'm down to only one in Paris.

Do I consider 'a vous' or 'je ne vous oublie pas' rewarding? Not so much.

Of course she doesn't owe us anything and can do as she sees fit. But I'm astonished when I continually read here that she should please the majority instead of pleasing everyone, while she easily could please everyone.

On a 20 songs setlist, make 12 hits (or most known songs), 5 songs from the last album, 2 less-known songs and a new cover.

Everyone would be happy. It is not difficult.

Is it THAT insulting and unbearable for the general public to be bored for two/three songs, meanwhile the die-hard fans get bored for half of the setlist? Not even mentioning years old prerecorded tracks.

(side bar, she should record them anew before each tour - and creatively fitting them well with the tone of the tour).

The TCWT set list was more well balanced.

I've seen her many times. She indeed is 'une bête de scène' as we say in french. A stage beast. Her voice is still top shape. Her charisma is unmatched. It is a great experience seing her live.

But settling for pleasing only the majority instead of pleasing everyone by just reworking less than a quarter of the setlist?

Just to make do?

No.

Maybe she changed the red dress because she lost some muscle mass by not exercising due to her virus, and doesn’t want to show off her back anymore
