She's Céline Dion for crying out loud, the best voice in the worlds, if she really feels a cover she brings it to a totally different level.... but I don't feel that very often anymore.

For those of you complaining about playbacks you should take note that it has been apart of her career since 1992. The percentages have fluctuated over time but its not any higher now than it was in her peak.

 

Can you imagine how much bitching there would be if this forum existed back in 1996? Then I'd really get to learn people's opinion on twist and shout, the shortening of iacbtmn, and the fact that the average setlist was like 18-20 songs and featured probably six or seven of these 8 lipped songs depending on country and show: dol, misled, Tlym, oor, wdmhbn, iyamt, tpol, fiy.

 

What i appreciate NOW is that the past few years has seen several old playbacks performed live for the first time in years.

 

Taking chances in 2017 tour was finally live in the last chorus after being lipped TCWT.

 

Idan was live in 2017 tourfor only the third time ever after 900 plus playbacks

 

The reason when introduced in 2011 was the absolute biggest thing fans looked forward to per rehearsals but became the biggest letdown when was playbacked. Since 2017 she has ditched that playback.

 

Misled in Copenhagen was the first time that had been sang live since the brunei concert and only the third overall (other being tonight show).

 

Mhwgo since 2015 (though she really needs to drop ending track now). After 2002, that song was lipped 900 plus times and only sang live three times (2004, 2007, 2013).

 

Treat her like a lady in copenhagen was only the second time that had been live ever!!

 

And of course if you asked me to received its first live in 27 years...okay i am 28 and was in diapers last time she sang that live.

 

Even just the simple adding of covers has been better. Now she adds covers she enjoys singing live. In the past she had several covers she lipped. Stayin alive, i wish, ending of world on a string, ammore annscunnito, goldfinger, ben, man in the mirror...to name a few. Nowadays mostly all her covers feature live vocals. Ending of show must go on is probably the last recent one to feature some playback.

 

When she adds new songs i feel like there is less of a risk of it being a playback than years ago. And when she debuts a song, (minus FOMO in vegas) she has recently done well to debut it live also!!

 

I would say as far as playback is concerned times are more optimistic than in the past.

I don't think Courge fit that well into this setlist. Sure it's the title track but still.... would maybe work better as the last encore as I've said before.

 

I went to the first Québec show and sadly, many people were getting their beers during Courage. I read earlier in this thread that the same happened yesterday...

I guess the most memorable thing of this era will be that red dress, I mean, it's on the album cover, also will be on the Lying Down music video, then we have two versions of it for the live performances

All the disapointment of the "broken promises of this tour" aside I must point this out:

 

To me this is by far the biggest highlight of this tour! And no I am not complaining about TLBSEPT replacing it (I love that song too), it's the way she sings it and the way its music is arranged. It's her best version of this song since I can't remember when. This is artistry. This is what it should be all about if it was up to me. This is bravo Céline! I am having a hard time stop listening to this marvellous version:

 

Please try to put aside the need for "high notes only" and "it's all supposed to be the way it has always been" and take a moment to appreciate the sheer brilliance of this performance…. please.

I totally understand if people want to complain of LACK of artistry of the setlist.... However, I was there in person last night and there WAS NOT A TOUCH OF NASALITY at all last night, her voice was top shape, strong and so crystal CLEAR!!

Sitting in the front row last night, there were no signs she was lipping the prayer (relaxed face on all the belts). It was absolutely breathtaking!

I wholeheartedly agree.... I felt yesterday her vocals were MAD! Setlist is a different story; I welcome that debate, but when someone says she’s not vocally stunning they need q-tips.

That's why she lips those songs, are her signature, people expect to hear those songs, so they don't want to disappoint the audience and they use a perfect live version to perform.

Maybe she is nervous on the first song and it's like a warm up for her?

What I find funny is that those popular pop princesses lip most of their shows and nobody says a thing. With Celine, who has some of the most vocally demanding songs and who CAN really sing, she should not use any lipping.

If you want her to record more music, let her protect her voice when she feels she needs it. We know she can sing.

 

I disagree, because IACBTMN wasn't the first song in other concerts and still it was lipsync.

 

Also everybody knows britney don´t sing live any of her songs, media even have asked her about it and still she denies it, so now everybody lives with that. Kind of the same with Mariah since she has exposed herself. So it's not like nobody says nothing, and in the case of Celine I'm glad only us hard-die fans, and also haters, know she does lipsync, while the general audience think she sings completely live.

Maybe it was a little overkill for her to play Cleveland, Cincinnati, Columbus and Detroit... I mean all within 4 hours or Less of a drive

 

However Cleveland looked entirely full to me....I was worried at first because lots of people were late taking their seats still at 8pm
