Question:

 

I found this forum just short of a year ago, when I was buying tickets to the Celine show in Vegas for the first time. Then, it wasn't long and LMBTL came out, and SA promotion stuff was going on, etc. So, since I found the board, there has been a lot going on in her career. My question is what happens to this message board in between projects? Does it basically become like a ghost town or does it stay somewhat active given that she is in Vegas and people have questions about the show?

No, not like a ghost town at all. It stays extremely active always. There is always something going on, something to talk about.

The board stays somwhat active when there isnt much activity with Celine, but people do not post as often as they do because not much to discuss.

I would've bought another million, the song is absolutely FABULOUS and i guess it might've worked for the gay fans in particular so anyway you and me would've made this single double platinum :-D

Absolutely LOVE Carole King's version of The Reason. Love Celine's vocal and harmonies etc. Replaced Celine's TR on my ipod with this.

My friend worked with Diane Warren with another guy and they recorded this song as a duet. It's gorgeous.

In all honesty, it's not the best vocal from the ATW sessions. I think they recorded a lot of songs for that album but only a few of them made the cut because it was a weird time for Celine vocally and she wasn't necessarily in top shape. Would I Know has always sounded strained to me, and I'm happy it wasn't released since it doesn't really convey the full authority of her voice. I don't think the album missed out on anything because of its exclusion.

My # 1 pick for unreleased song is Celine's version of Dreams to Dream. Of course, we all know why it wasn't released . . and we'll probably never hear it .. .but it's such a beautiful song, and Celine loved it so. . would love to hear her sing it!

For anyone who's interested, there's a new article by Carl Wilson (who wrote Let's Talk About Love: A Journey to the End of Taste) -- it's about Mariah Carey, but he muses in part of it about how it would have been different if he wrote his book about Mariah instead, and compares Celine and Mariah. http://www.slate.com/articles/arts/culturebox/2014/05/mariah_carey_s_me_i_am_mariah_the_elusive_chanteuse_reviewed_by_a_former.2.html#comments

 

I don't agree with everything he says, but I think he's such an interesting writer.

The recording we heard was definitely a demo and not a final cut and edited version of the track.

There is no comparison, one is clearly better. Um, actually, we don't all know why that Linda Ronstatt song was not released, someone do tell. I love Would I know, especially that note in the middle. I think her oice was amazing and at its full command during that era, but it's okay that we disagree.

 

Linda was chosen over Celine at the last minute due to the success of the last song she had recorded for the first "American Tale" movie (Somewhere Out There). Celine had already recorded her version and was very hurt to have been passed by. But then BATB happened and Linda's song was a commercial flop.

I love it to. I think Celine was like 8 months pregnant with RC when she recorded the harmonies for Carole Kings version of The Reason. I remember reading a story about the recording of the harmonies somewhere.

I like WIK, the long note is gorgeous. But i've always hated the ending.

I love the ending. No Boy, it is not wrong to grin like a freak in thinking of how it all turned out. And how interesting that the pot of gold came later with Beauty and the Beast instead. :) Wonderful!
