Having just watched J Lo perform her new single on Britain's Got Talent I realised how happy I am to be a Celine fan. Not only is Celine's music memorable but she also knows how to dress for someone her age. J Lo's song was instantly forgettable and she looked ridiculous.

Let's compare to how Celine & Madonna looked recently:

Celine is 45. J Lo is 43, and Madonna is 54. I know instantly which one looks the best and is dressed the best for her age. Undoubtedly Celine. Classy as always.

 

J Lo made me appreciate tonight the amount of effort Celine and the team are putting into the new album because honestly if that's what it takes to get into the charts these days i'm glad Celine isn't bothering. The Power of Love is still remembered, and performed, to this day. As is Because You Loved Me. So is My Heart Will Go On. Celine's songs will be remembered for generations to come.

 

Songs like J Lo's "Live It Up" won't be remembered next year, never mind in 10 years.

I always wonder whether the song „My Love“, written by Linda Perry, ever bothered Rene because the lyric pretty clear implies that she is not always happy with her partner. Even Linda said that she was reading between the lines when she met Celine and they talked, and this song is based on their conversation. What do you think?

I think my love is about her career

Her love is music / her career , IMO it's about the struggle to balance her career and personal life, that sometimes she finds it hard to go out on stage every night and smile through it.

Then again I could be completely wrong and it could be about Rene.

She gets so emotional when she sings it :-(

Hate seeing her upset.

But I do love the song.

The song is not about Rene. It's about Celine's relationship with her career and public life -- how she gave so much to it and but she naturally feels ambivalent about it) -- and about the pressure of maintaining the perfect public persona ("Lately, I"m sorry, I can't hold a smile" and "Can't you see/I can break/ Did you notice all my mistakes"). She says in the recording session that it was always she herself who made the choices ("Did you know that I would play the part/I know I made it clear right from the start") -- She said this was the life she wanted, and she thinks it what she was meant to do ("I know I'm right where I belong) -- but there are times when it's hard and being "Celine, the artist" takes over Celine, the person.

 

Linda Perry said this to Chuck Taylor about the song: "This woman doesn’t take any breaks, she’s a machine, constantly moving. She's on a schedule. 'My Love' is about her relationships with fans, herself, her record label, and how she will do anything it takes to win you over: If I give you everything, will you do the same for me? I do think it's odd that Rene wasn't at that recording session, as he's in almost all of them -- but I still don't think she's blaming Rene -- because so many times both Linda and Celine say that this life was a choice that *Celine* made, that she wanted, that she went after (e.g. Celine at 4:19; Linda at 5:35 and 8:10). Rene is such a huge part of her life and her career that it's all sort of mixed together . . . but I just can't see the "my love" in her song being Rene -- it's the career, the record company, the fans, the general public -- it's this very natural ambivalence she has to a career that she both loves and wants to give everything to, and that has a darker side as well in its ability to take her over completely.

I think when she says "my love" she is referring to herself. Not her partner.

As they've had that heading for years, what's really going on is that the official site is the last to post any news about Celine. They should have the subheading: if you really, really want to know what's really going on, head over to Celine Dion Forum. :laugh:

Yeah, today it was the "did you know Céline can dance?", and they posted a video of the ACDS You Should Be Dancing segment with the latest Daft Punk hit "Get Lucky", which really made me think AGAIN "when the hell is she going to record a dance album instead of posting videos of more than 10 years ago pretending she's cool with today's popular hits?????" :wtf: Wouldn't be 1,000 times better if she had recorded that song herself and dancing really to that song?

 

Don't worry, tomorrow it will be the "did you know Céline can cook?" :w00t: and next day they'll be ready to bombard us with the press release of her new perfume and 5 different promotions to purchase it at the Boutique, that's how it works there... but what concerns new MUSIC... no such luck! :giggle:
