Especially when it comes to Céline... they seems to be entitled to judge or say this is good or bad wheareas Céline herself is humble enough to say "I don't have any advice to give to anybody" so many times.

Well when TC came out YouTube wasnt that huge so can't compare.

 

The real problem here is the lack of radio support. If it weren't for that we could be looking at a big hit in the US

I don't mind her pronunciation. She's singing how she speaks - good for her! Why should everything be sung in an English/American accent, and pronounce everything spot on? She's singing as a French Canadian and it makes her stand out, instantly recognisable

Ugh. I know this isn't the popular opinion right now and I should be excited about this, but I'm just not. The exchange after the song is over is absolutely iconic and hilarious, but everything else is below average. The song is boring, her vocals are unpleasant (very throaty and her enunciation is poor). It feels like she already phoned it in. The dress looks like something she already wears in her show, the set appears to be the coliseum stage, her face is digitized or over made something. It just seems like she's still not putting effort into new material. It reminds me of that beauty and the beast song. They gave her a song, she sang it after a show one night, and she mailed it back, and that was it. Yikes, I'm sorry to rain on the parade but I didn't get the feels at all.

Oh it's soo essential.

 

First for me the song was okay.

But after watching an hilarious, and also moving video it got me.

 

As I speak for myself, She has the power to deliver that song through images.

Her eyes, her moves, the dramatic move "and when I pray to God"

 

Gurrrlll I FEEL you!! It makes me want to hit my chest and do your moves.

 

But most, as much as some of you love Recovering or HDAMLF they are okay songs.

This one is perfect for radio, it's a bit haunting, the orchestra is perfect, her voice is BEAUTIFUL, the bass is deep. And she doesn't do stuff with her voice. It's steady.

 

 

A music videoclip can make you like a song that you didn't even bother about when only listening to. It can make you feel (not only see) things that really gets you into the song and it hooks you.

 

Sadly Céline's team didn't quite understand this since 2007...

Watching the 1st Deadpool at the moment. I generally couldn't care one iota about action flicks; they bore me stiff. But the fourth-wall breaking aspect of this makes it more entertaining than most. So good on ya, Celine, for taking a bit of a risk here and going "off-brand". It works.

 

And, given that this is a Canadian superhero + a Canadian actor, I can totally see there being - if not a cameo - then at least some sort of witty Celine reference in the next one.

 

Also, I guess is makes sense that Ryan would have more of a connection to Celine than most action-hero movie stars. I might be confused about my chronology here, but wasn't he engaged to Alanis at the time she and Celine basically ruled the charts? I wouldn't be surprised if they actually met before, at some award show or something, not just last year's Met Gala.
