This song made me realise how much I love her and how much I miss her. Nothing close to what I felt with Recovering or HDAMLF, which, despite enjoying them so much, they didn't have the hook I'm feeling with Ashes. Period

 

Is it because we're all seeing her at the same time as listening to the song for the first time? Maybe. Just consider it. But let's not forget the importance of having had a videoclip released just at the same time as the song.

 

Yeah I think the video really helps. I firstly downloaded from iTunes few minutes before the MV released and at first listen I feel like OK it is a pretty good song but too slow, too short, without any bridge or powerful ending, a little bit let down from my expectation. But after watching the video it keeps growing on me and now I LOVE the song already lol. The more I listen, the more I like it. It's slow, but as you said, not like the beautiful HDAMLF. Ashes has some modern, powerful, catchy vibe.

A music videoclip can make you like a song that you didn't even bother about when only listening to. It can make you feel (not only see) things that really gets you into the song and it hooks you.

 

Sadly Céline's team didn't quite understand this since 2007...

Ever since Mariah started Vegas comparisons have just got more frequent and i compare them as equals because both are legends. Mariah hasnt had a hit since like 2005 but Celine hasnt had one since like 2002 at least.

That's true, and Mariah needs to be acknowledged for that. Céline's last hit in English was in 2002. She needs to take back her throne in the charts worldwide and the time is now. Or at least have a song that can be considered a "hit" again, because it's possible and Ashes is coming close to showing that.

 

Not that I care much about charts and radio positions really, but we all appreciate the general public awareness and recognition for Céline's new music out there

I am in contact with the biggest radio station in Austria. The morning show will be heard by almost 3 Million people.

 

That´s pretty much for my small country.

 

I hope that they will show the Austrians, that Céline is much more than the lady from Titanic.

It's not only since 2005 or 2002... if you go that way let's count Mariah's hits in the 90s and Celine's... we will laugh, especially Mariah's fan.

 

I won't even talk about sales of their 2 last english albums to see who and how many... but Mariah's downfall has been wayyyyyy bigger than Céline's.

 

Poor Mariah, at the end, she sure has 124 hits but she had to follow a tendancy started by a singer who hasn't had a no1 since 20 years (because Celine's last hit didn't even reach top 10).
